The interesting thing here, is, that in the "soup" example, process B was resolved by increasing equipment, as 1 person would still occupy process B, but in the toy example it would depend greatly on what is involved in that process , if it's a hand-on assembly process , then having three people doing that could lower the time to 2 min for that process, but if it's machinery that requires a dedicated operator, then we would need 3 machines and 3 operators. (a lot of cost) which may require some other creative solution.

Very helpful! One question: A company has different types of products (let's say different toys, for instance), the takt time is refered to the complete demand of any kind of toys or you can apply that for each type? What is the common way to use it? Thank you a lot!
Hi. If is still relevant. TT in this case depends if all products pass the same line or there are different lines for each. If different lines TT is calculated separatelly. If one line TT is common for all products. It is key to have right scheduling method to induct every part every day. Does this helped?
When calculating capacity of an inspection line, I account for reruns and Equipment downtime on top of the scheduled amount needed to be inspected which amounts to 11% more units and then on the inspection line there is a calculated capacity using the ideal cycle time however its a manned station and its not 100% efficient therefore my Actual throughput is 10% less. Can i show these numbers to show we need more overspeed or am i double dipping the downtime numbers?
Hi. If is still relevant. Yes return part must be calculated into the TT. If is rework, try to improve, because its a waste. Dowtimes must be subtracted from available time, so yes it is affecting final TT.
I would suggest to focus on improving down times and rework to minimum. Focus on nonvalue added activities improvement. After I would recalculate and show to management. Does this helped?
at 14.7 can you explain why if cycle time is less than take time then it meet customer requirement? the total lead time of the total process still be 10+2+2+2+2 = 18 min if takt time is 2 it mean that suppose available time is 10 min, demand per day is 5 then take time is 2 min. but if you have cycle time 2 min. that mean you will complete the total process = 18 min. that is more than available time 10 min.? how can that be acceptable?
Thanks for great video. In the Takt time section example is 40 hours, is it assuming there is only on person in the production line or during calcuation there is no need to consider the man power?
