A lot of good looking Plotts in this video. I just got my first Plott shes 10 years old though. I rescued her. I have a feeling shes going to be one of the best dogs ive ever had

My plott loses interest as soon as the game stops moving. But when the chase is on, he sings out loud and wont stop for anything.
@Revan:We got ours from a shelter. He'd been there over a year! After a couple of months, he knows who his family is.
They're sweet dogs, unless you're a raccoon or a 'possum.

Yes, we got ours from the shelter as well and she had been there for a long time for a shelter dog and her time was almost up. She is so loyal and loving and I have no doubt defend to her death. I have never seen a dog with a smile like hers, she puts her full mouth of pearlies on full display.
The first dog our family ever had, we were never certain what breed she was, but it looks (and sounds) like she was a Plott Hound. She used to scream like a stuck pig when we came home.

My plot mix was the most game driven dog I have ever seen. He would hunt relentlessly. I hope the AKC doesn't destroy the breed.

Do plott hounds handle great when they have moved to another family?

I have one
I understand some people call a black dog a Plott Hound and some Plotts will have a black hair puppy. However, this can't be according North Carolina State Law! In order to be consider the state dog, it has to be Brindled.
You don't know your breeds.. let them have fun damn.. many plotts have different colors based on parents and genes!!

their color is just too mixed and unpredictable for me to consider these sturdy pure breeds. All purebreds should have steady characteristics with minor changes that go back to the original colors, I am afraid that some hounds are just too mixed at times to be genuine. Love all these dogs though.
Wise Warrior's Path I'll sire mine with brindle ONLY. I have videos of my Plott (mix?).
Wrong. Many are brindle and rare black colors! I know my breeds I hunt plotts hounds.. they are pure.. why does it matter? They accept other breeds and crosses
Are you two boys purebred?!? 🤣 Why does it matter? Where do you think pure breed dogs come from? Some hounds are just more established than others. And when you sire, please make sure all them pups are well cared for, sir. Thank you.
This cannot be Plott. Plott Hounds should have Brindled hair according to North Carolina State Law!
Wrong I know my breeds. Many are brindle and black!! It's rare to get black plotts! You have buckskin and spotted ones as well!!
Here in Germany there is still the original Hanoverian hound. These are smaller and more phlegmatic. The Plott hounds remind me more of a Doberman. Maybe there is a family connection...
