The difference is MVC as a series has fundamentally been busted since the get go and has fundamentally been a part of the franchise's identity and charm. People love it BECAUSE it's a bunch of busted spaghetti that has loads of cool shit as a result. However, the difference between MVC and Fighterz is people didn't like/play Fighterz because it was a busted game. It had some nonsense but it wasn't just DBZ reskinning of a Marvel style game. Marvel also has high levels of skill required to pull off a LOT of the insane combos you see clipped online. Fighterz doesn't appear to have that same skill threshold to perform a touch of death which makes the game feel far more cheap. It also makes FighterZ lose what identity it had by now, basically, being a DBZ skin to a Marvel style 3v3.
Have you lived under a rock? Most of the fgc is literally going ape for MvC port collection and none of those games were known for its balance. It’s chaotic and “hype”. Yet when DBFZ goes closer to that direction everyone loses their minds lol.

But fundamentally changing FighterZ to have more chaotic gameplay changes what people actually liked about the game. Not to mention the chaos and hype of MvC comes with knowing the chaos requires considerable skill while these changes to FighterZ require far less skill. It feels less impressive to see people do and feels worse to be on the receiving end because your opponent doesn't even have to try very hard to kill off one of your characters unlike in MvC.
The reason the DBFZ patch made so many people mad is because the combination of insane fullscreen options that lead into full combos, and now damage output so insane you can TOD with a combo that only has a single normal in it, has led to a game that is so braindead and goofy that any competitive spirit is completely crushed.
Dragon ball games will know peace when you competitive bums who cry about changes that aren't even tha big of a deal leave the game. Please go cry somewhere else....

FighterZ ain’t in the same boat as Marvel vs Capcom. It had its own identity and went through ridiculous bipolar changes that nobody asked for. MVC is a completely different beast entirely. It being broken is honestly expected, and part of its charm.

People complaining that people are complaining about DBFZ. My take is that, if these were there on day 1, nobody will complain. There are as much crazy shit in MvC but they were the intent. DBFZ wasn't, however crazy it was even on day 1. Now it has become so unhinged it has lost its identity. That's what the pros are complaining.

Patch is fun , understand why competitive players wouldn’t like it but it’s def fun. If marvel 3 came out nowadays nobody would play it because it was “broken” . It’s weird they would even patch in the changes to DBFZ. It’s a six year old game that wrapped up its final season of DLC three years ago. It’s been time for Jump FighterZ for like two years now. They shouldn’t be messing around with Dragon Ball FighterZ still, they should have had a new game by this point.
6 years isn't that long for a AAA fighting game and the player base is still solid. Plus it's still fun with this patch doing it a tremendous favor to renew interest and hype back into it. The gap between SFV and SF6 was like 7ish years and I'm sure that Bamco and Arc Sys have issues when it comes to developing a real sequel game to FighterZ, if the rumors are to be believed, and I imagine the laundry list of licenses needed to do a Jump game is costly and unwieldy.

There wasnt even a TWO year gap between the last DLC release date in SF5 and SF6 releasing. DBFZ has ZERO signs of DLC releasing, ZERO signs of a sequel up ahead, so patching an almost 7 year old game at this point just doesn't seem logical whatsoever. I mean how much profit would they even make off of the hype from a new patch? The game is always like 90% off anyways.

If they were still doing new seasons of DLC every year that’d be one thing, like six years wouldn’t be insane if they were still releasing new characters the whole time, but Super Baby 2 came out January 15, 2021. The game was especially done three years ago. You also kind of want to release the new thing while the player base is still solid. You want to have lost your audience ahead of the sequel coming out, you want the audience hungry for the new thing. Street Fighter 5 also released unfinished and wasn’t up to where a fighting game would normally be on release until like two years after it came out. Street Fighter 5 is not a template that should be followed, and the way studios just hung around in one fighting game during the PS4 era sucked. Also, Street Fighter 6 was originally meant to come out a year before it did; it seems like COVID pushed the release back a year. Nothing about how Street Fighter 5 released, or how long it was before the next one is something Capcom wanted. Bandai Namco already has the license to do Jump games, and they released Jump Force without a problem. I’d imagine releasing anything Jump released in recent years in America is far easier rights wise than it once was with all the Jump properties seemingly now being with Viz...which is owned by Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions.

As someone who has only ever had a casual passing enjoyment of dbfz, this might be a hot take but i respect the devs for at least trying to revive a dying game even if it was hilariously misguided but lets be real for a sec, there were already pre-existing videos of people doing goofy ass ez Deathtouch combos on literally every character SOLO. So it now looks like theres some mvc/melee level jank that we can view as either a bug or a feature. Way I see it, worst they could do is accidentally mercy kill an already dying game but I personally enjoy a sprinkle of goofy jankiness in my games. Like skyrims ragdoll physics, missing textures and T-poses become a meme. In the same way Im sure some of these changes might have been unintended consequences of other changes like previous updates causing wacky visual bugs for spectator mode. It’s not hilariously misguided. Watching people block for 3 hours straight made the game boring as hell. Now people will get opened and DIE. Which is what a crazy game should be… with some balance. This game looks to have don’t men the right things. Who cares if the best oldschool players don’t wanna play? Newer better players will play. This is what happened when mvc2 came out. No one on the west coast took it seriously (well very few did) but the east coast took it seriously and it became one of the greatest games of its time. If people pick up dbfz again, I think this might happen. It’s actually good enough to be legacy now.

I feel like dbfz will forever be an example of why only buffs is an unhealthy mentality for any fighting game. For the past 3 patches people only wanted the top tiers nerfed to collapse the tiers. This final patch buffs pretty much everyone except android 21. If you buff everything, the meta barely changes which has been the problem with this game for years. The patch ignores what the wider community has wanted so the game is going to stay where it is. I won't call it dead but only the ultra fans are going to be around.

As someone who stopped competing like a year and a half ago, I could not care less about competitiveness in this game, so all that this patch do is make the game more crazy and interesting and overall fun. Its just funny how everytime a new patch comes out people scream out that they'll uninstall the game and will never play again yet somehow they're always still there whenever the next one comes out to say it again
With the new DBFZ patch and rollback, they should bring back the raid/coop mode. If their aim is for more casual players, a permanent raid mode would be great for pulling off flashy, unoptimal combos.

The thing about DBZF is that characters now have more options by themselves when in sparking mode. Weirdly that is supposed to be a bad thing when everyone loves MVC3 10Hit kills with X-factor and Morrigan's projectiles. As always, people just want to have an opinion and join the band wagon.

What I think this new patch is for DBFZ is a look into what their next game would be like. We’re already done with dlc characters, and right now they’re just making the game more crazy. I’d be expecting a SDBFZ soon, if not something crazier like a Jump Fighterz.
Changing up fighterz is fine and all, I just wish with it and most modern fighters, there was a way to roll back to an older patch without it being a whole ordeal. USF4's Edition Select really spoiled me and its downright criminal no other fighting game, not even other Street Fighters, have replicated it.

The game was especially done three years ago. You also kind of want to release the new thing while the player base is still solid. You want to have lost your audience ahead of the sequel coming out, you want the audience hungry for the new thing.
Street Fighter 5 also released unfinished and wasn’t up to where a fighting game would normally be on release until like two years after it came out. Street Fighter 5 is not a template that should be followed, and the way studios just hung around in one fighting game during the PS4 era sucked. Also, Street Fighter 6 was originally meant to come out a year before it did; it seems like COVID pushed the release back a year. Nothing about how Street Fighter 5 released, or how long it was before the next one is something Capcom wanted.
Bandai Namco already has the license to do Jump games, and they released Jump Force without a problem. I’d imagine releasing anything Jump released in recent years in America is far easier rights wise than it once was with all the Jump properties seemingly now being with Viz...which is owned by Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions.

As someone who has only ever had a casual passing enjoyment of dbfz, this might be a hot take but i respect the devs for at least trying to revive a dying game even if it was hilariously misguided but lets be real for a sec, there were already pre-existing videos of people doing goofy ass ez Deathtouch combos on literally every character SOLO. So it now looks like theres some mvc/melee level jank that we can view as either a bug or a feature. Way I see it, worst they could do is accidentally mercy kill an already dying game but I personally enjoy a sprinkle of goofy jankiness in my games. Like skyrims ragdoll physics, missing textures and T-poses become a meme. In the same way Im sure some of these changes might have been unintended consequences of other changes like previous updates causing wacky visual bugs for spectator mode. It’s not hilariously misguided. Watching people block for 3 hours straight made the game boring as hell. Now people will get opened and DIE. Which is what a crazy game should be… with some balance. This game looks to have don’t men the right things. Who cares if the best oldschool players don’t wanna play? Newer better players will play. This is what happened when mvc2 came out. No one on the west coast took it seriously (well very few did) but the east coast took it seriously and it became one of the greatest games of its time.
If people pick up dbfz again, I think this might happen. It’s actually good enough to be legacy now.

I feel like dbfz will forever be an example of why only buffs is an unhealthy mentality for any fighting game. For the past 3 patches people only wanted the top tiers nerfed to collapse the tiers. This final patch buffs pretty much everyone except android 21. If you buff everything, the meta barely changes which has been the problem with this game for years. The patch ignores what the wider community has wanted so the game is going to stay where it is. I won't call it dead but only the ultra fans are going to be around.

The moment they made it possible to level 1 into a level 3 for all characters, I stopped playing DBFZ. felt like labbing in this game was for nothing.
I understand the hate around fighterz. The combos being difficult, especially TODs makes the game more challenging and fun. But now it seems you can TOD easily and even with just one character and that kinda spoils the grind of practicing to learn a sick and technical combo.

As someone who stopped competing like a year and a half ago, I could not care less about competitiveness in this game, so all that this patch do is make the game more crazy and interesting and overall fun. Its just funny how everytime a new patch comes out people scream out that they'll uninstall the game and will never play again yet somehow they're always still there whenever the next one comes out to say it again

With the new DBFZ patch and rollback, they should bring back the raid/coop mode. If their aim is for more casual players, a permanent raid mode would be great for pulling off flashy, unoptimal combos.

Some people are tripping like crazy, the new FighterZ patch has done the game a tremendous favor to renew fun, hype, and interest in it after 6 years. It's a fantastic pivot for it.
I love this, they finally made it some real ass Marvel.
Everyone's broken, and that's the best. Now everyone is viable, not just the five its been. Everyone's got a ToD, everyone's has a spammable, everyone can be goofy as fuck.

What I think this new patch is for DBFZ is a look into what their next game would be like. We’re already done with dlc characters, and right now they’re just making the game more crazy. I’d be expecting a SDBFZ soon, if not something crazier like a Jump Fighterz.

Changing up fighterz is fine and all, I just wish with it and most modern fighters, there was a way to roll back to an older patch without it being a whole ordeal. USF4's Edition Select really spoiled me and its downright criminal no other fighting game, not even other Street Fighters, have replicated it.
