Thanks for all the great recommendations. I have only read Shokoufeh Azar’s book from your list so far and I absolutely loved it. The subject matter was heart breaking but the writing and the translation were brilliant.
I still haven’t read Celestial Bodies. You gave me the ARC over 2 years ago. Going to pick that up next. I’m hoping the final book in The Mirror Visitor quartet will be out soon. Great to see a video from you.
I just started Celestial Bodies on audio - hoping to finish it by the end of this month! Also, random note re Jennifer Croft, I have a weird sense of familiarity with her too because I know her dad! I was his teaching assistant for three semesters while I was in college (and he is absolutely lovely).
I love a fist or a heart seems so deep I will definitely read it also the celestial bodies its dealt with the pressure Arabic women face in their society
Great video! I'm on my 3rd novel for Women in Translation month. First was the Garden of Monsters by Lorenza Piero (Italian) which I loved, then the dystopian novella The Emissary, by Yoko Tawada (Japanese), and now I'm reading Wildlives by Monique Proulx (French, Canada). It has the most gorgeous writing. I also read the non-fiction In Other Words by Jhumpa Lhari, which she wrote in Italian
I have only read Tawada - and I think she is amazing. I could have mentioned Lhari’s new book too. Goodness sounds like you have had a good reading month!
Sorry I was a bit distracted your video because I had to look up city of ash. Sounds very interesting. I was surprised seeing it in low 3s on goodreads but im still interested... I want to put one of these, at least, in my tbr and work it in. Among the lost is there one you might suggest that is the type of book that grips you and sticks with you long after you finished reading it. Great video. Lots for me to look up...now I have to rewatch ha
Funny, i dont think I every look at Goodreads ratings. After all the stuff that I read about what people do to the authors on there, I just never trust them. I hope that you give it a go and that you like it. You keep reminding me to read Cixin Liu.
@@InkandPaperBlog yeah I don't put stock into those ratings but I do happen to notice them. Oddly too when I see something rated 3 stars, which to me is a decent rating, its usually a slam on the book...oh well..
Great recommendation! I also love Korean and Japanese novels 💕
Fantastic recommendations as always.
Loved these recs as always!! Always wanting more translated fic reads xx
I really love your recommendations, it’s refreshing to see you talking about totally different books than most of the people here on UA-cam 🤍
Oh thank you .. I have always marched to my own drummer. I hope you find a book or two to love.

Brillant… I cannot wait to shee what Azar does next. And I do love a good Europa novel.
