    To begin let me tell you that a scale of chords may be used to set or read an angle in the absence of a protractor. To draw an angle, compasses describe an arc from origin with a radius taken from the 60 mark. The required angle is copied from the scale by the compasses, and an arc of this radius drawn from the sixty mark so it intersects the first arc. The line drawn from this point to the origin will be at the target angle.

    Thank you so much for this helpful video, Sir !
    What I had thought of doing was this :
    Divide the base line AD (D is the point where the 90° arc cuts AB when extended) into 9 parts and then taking each part (0-1, 0-2, ..., 0-9) as radius, draw an arc starting at AD(the line) and ending at AC(the arc) .
    My logic was that when you look at the line below AD having perpendiculars dropped from all the arcs, all the rectangular parts seem to be equal, so it should work out in the opposite direction (starting with the rectangles and then moving onto the arcs) also.
    I was thinking that this would also divide my quadrant ABCA into 9 equal parts, but it doesn't seem to work .
    Why is this so ?

      Rishika... You gave written a long message.....
      Anyway I am sure that the method I explained is clear.......
      I have got to watch the video again to understand what I had I explained.
      And frankly speaking, even I have forgot the method.

    • @RishikavsAnnie
      @RishikavsAnnie 6 років тому

      @@ManasPatnaikofficial No Sir, you don't need to watch the video again, because my idea is different from what you taught .
      In short, my idea was to divide AB into equal parts and then produce angles by taking those parts as radii, which didn't work .
      But thank you so much !

    • @rohanzade7434
      @rohanzade7434 5 років тому

      I think what u say is also correct Rishika...only thing u need to careful about is finding point B which will be 6th point from point A ( which we come to know after seeing sirs final diagram). So in my opinion it can be done the way u said.

    Sir,do we need to draw the raw diagram in the main diagram while trisecting the arc as you have shown in the right side in large.And the 2nd qs is if there is given to measure a particular angle,then all the times do we need to draw the scale of chords?

    another method is to simply divide the AB line into 9 parts (the same way it is done in plain scale). And then cutting arcs equal to the length of the subdivisions (that we get on the line AB) onto the AC arc . And boom we fet the least count as 10 degrees. Way simpler.
