I thought the shoe ban got lifted last season where now any player can where any color way they want. For example: Jaylen Brown in last season's season opener, he wore mismatched shoes where one shoe was red and the other was blue despite the Celtics doesn't have that any of those colors.
Amare didn’t just get “poked in the eye” it lead to a whole injury. He missed a little bit of time & if not mistaken he got surgery for that. I could be wrong about that part. Either way it wasn’t a simple eye poke.

I seem to remember that Amare had first a detached retina and then a partially torn iris that he had surgery on and then missed something like the final 8 weeks of the season for. After the second injury to the same eye it was stated that if re-injured it could have ended his career. I don't think it was a want to prevent so much as a need to prevent given the severity of his injury and the high risk of re-injury.

After the second injury to the same eye it was stated that if re-injured it could have ended his career. I don't think it was a want to prevent so much as a need to prevent given the severity of his injury and the high risk of re-injury.
