  • Baby it's cold outside! Well, not 'need a parka' cold, but definitely not very comfortable gardening weather! I'm going to persist, however, and get a few more jobs done before I call it for the season. Today, I'm finishing up the hosta bed that I planted up a few months ago - a task that has been on the 'To Do' list all summer (see the links below for drip supplies if you are crazy like me and need to do some last-minute installs before the really cold weather sets in!)
    Happy gardening!

Where do I garden?? In Southern Ontario, zone 5b! And because zones don’t always tell the full story, my last frost date is May 10th & first frost date is Oct. 3rd.

I can appreciate your cold weather stamina. I'm a warm weather gardener. If it didn't get done in October it waits until spring. Bonny zone 5b

I am honestly so glad for the late end of fall this year lol, I'm juuust about finishing up the random chores and things put away now too!
Quick question, do you start eucalyptus, lisianthus and bells of ireland? I have the seeds, and seems those need to be started early, but currently still struggling about how early to start haha.

Bells of Ireland I start in mid-April & eucalyptus gets started in late February. As for lisianthus, I haven't grown them but my understanding is you need to start them WAY early, in January or even December as they take about 6 months to flower.

@@TheGardeningMe thanks! and yes, I'm waffling about whether to start lisianthus in Dec or Jan lol. Will update!
