  • On the fourth day of our Japan trip, we ventured out to the historic city of Nara, known for its unique and enchanting wildlife. The highlight of the day was meeting the famous bowing deer at Nara Park. These friendly deer, considered sacred messengers in the Shinto religion, roam freely throughout the park, and they’ve learned to bow to visitors in exchange for food! Their gentle and curious nature made for an unforgettable experience, as we fed them special deer crackers and watched them politely bow in return, showcasing their surprisingly refined behavior.
Next, we explored the awe-inspiring Todaiji Temple, home to one of the world’s largest bronze statues of Buddha, nestled in a massive wooden hall. Walking through the temple grounds, we marveled at the ancient architecture and learned about the deep cultural and spiritual significance of the site.
We also visited Kofukuji Temple, another iconic landmark in Nara with its striking five-story pagoda. The history and beauty of these temples gave us a glimpse into Japan's rich cultural heritage, leaving us in awe.
It was a day filled with discovery, learning, and moments of serene connection with both nature and history.
