Nice Dual 1019 and great work on the plinth. Own several Duals, but in the 1200 series. Like 1229, 1215S, 1216, 1225, 1218, and 1226. All in the original plinths except one. I would love make one for that one, just not good with wood. I love the Dual table for there durability, tracking, and sound. I have records I have played many time, for over 40 years. They still sound great. As far as stacking records I do that on occasion. There is a lip at edge of record and the label area that prevent the play surface from rubbing. It is the stylus position that changes that can cause some damage. On some Duals there is an adjustment lever to use with stack record with helps change stylus position when doing that. My 1229 has it. Others have a special head shell , not all though. The cartridge mounts inside piece of shell with two small springs. There is a dial on head shell with S and M (single and Multi play). I drop spindles for 33 and 45 records. I like them when the music of records is short. The M91ED you mentioned a great cartridge and use several, but also like the Grado

The final product on this is so clean, great job! I really appreciated these Dual 1019 videos and the effort you put into them. I myself recently got a Dual 1019 on craigslist for a good deal. It works great but cosmetically it could use a lot of work. I plan on building a cabinet, and if you don't mind, sort of basing on your design philosophy here. Again, it is such a clean look. The contrast between the finished oak and the walnut is so appeasing. Luster, as you said, is the right word. I also enjoyed that vinyl you laid down for us during your test, Stanley Turrentine is such a staple of that era. I'm a big fan of "Flipped Out" which came out around that time I believe.
Thanks again, I'll try to share my finished product when it is done as well. Great work!

Sounds great from here, can you put a stack of singles on these using a long spindle?

    • @AudioNovice

You can stack LP`s and 45's I don't like my records rubbing against each other that way. I do have the other parts to play them that way. Thanks for asking.

@@AudioNovice Aye no what you mean there, it would be handy for old singles not my shiny new LPs though thanks for the reply

Hi there, I'm in the process of restoring a 1019. What a wonderful turntable! I was wondering if you noticed a change or improvement in sound with the new plinth?

I am not sure the weight of the plinth won't hurt it. Mostly likely improve it I never heard it with the original base. I notice that many owners of Idler wheel turn tables had heavy base. I have it away for other places that would transmit vibrations. I would do it, if your original base is in good shape try isolating from any vibrations. thanks for the question.

@@AudioNovice thank you. My original plinth is in ok shape but I will be building a heavier one sometime soon. Not only for the sound but also for the look - and let's face it, the 1019 is such a beautiful turntable!

Looks great, are you gonna put some veneer on the case(to look like the one inside) or you will leave it as is?

I am going to leave it like it is. It is a Oak hardwood with a tung oil finish. I have another project for a 1015 that I may do the base with walnut stain. Thanks for asking
