Wow! This is amazing. Well, I guess in this line of work you better keep GOOD intra professional relationships. You literally have each other’s lives on hands. God bless and protect those people who do this work. My sincerest prayers and respect for what you do. We take so much for granted.
The pole of the hook will probably be made of fibreglass. Step ladders used by electricians are so constructed rather than the usual aluminium which could act as a conductor leading to possible electrocution. Such ladders are usually yellow as well.
I worked in the oilfield as a snubber and as a Blowout Preventor Technician. And it's funny looking back at all the sophisticated hydraulic systems and valves and such we worked with, most of the time we were working with hammers and pipewrenches. Just like the hook, if it ain't broke don't fix it!
What about just having a longer wrench? Attach it to a dielectric pole and do stuff from remote. Also seeing the current jumping through the air on some footages it sounds not super safe anyway. Can’t it then reach the other guy?
Only in 1 video the safety person wears protecting clothes. If you make a mistake the safety person isnt safe. The safety person must wear exactly the same safety clothes as the working person.
The muscles will only contract if its DC voltage if it's AC you'll be thrown across the room, but I'm talking about 240v....at this voltage you'll be barbecued instantly, the hook is jusy for pulling the corpse off the equipment... So I've heard.. Actual electrical engineers feel free to correct me.
Buy components that can withstand shortcirquits.... like in the Netherlands. I work on highvoltage switchgear and we dont have anybody with stiick to pull a person away. Buy equipment with arc-protection. 😂😂😂😂
Learned something new today👋🏻

GREAT CHANNEL! So glad I stumbled upon it I’m hooked already and it’s been 4 minutes!
Glad you enjoy it!
Those arcing electric currents are insane. Raw power.

So 21st century top technology safety props is a stone age designed hook... I am proud to be human!
😂
well you dont want any robots or electronics or metal near an electrical arc....
Yep used for pulling sheep away from danger 5000 years ago. Older than the wheel. Still works
@@alantaylor3910 Old stuff never dies!
Except if you used a Stone Age hook you’d both die since wood is way more conductive than the fiberglass one he’s using
Yep! You gatta respect high voltage!
This is some dangerous work!
😮 WHOA , WHAT A JOB ?
PHEW ! INTERESTING

Aren't there newer pneumatic switching systems that eliminate these risks?
Yeah. That hook is made to pull your dead body. Unless your reflexes are quicker than electric flow.
even the robots say NO THANK YOU To this job

Just knowing someone is there if something goes wrong is the point I guess, you can't predict accidents. Better than nothing.
😂 that’s why we do HV switching only by remote
So this is why they say sparkies hook up more than any other profession?

I hope the wrench is not made of material that can carry electricity
In 1 millisecond ... the guy is dead. No hook man is faster than that.
I wonder could they make the hook flat?
Did that several times. NEVER again.
Electricity is something learned by studying and not trial and error. Electrical jobs are dangerous work.
I do dat after sauna all day long when not enough heat.
Electricity is super scary
Who agrees robots will be useful for this job ?

Dumbest idea will he survive a 11kv shock
Hell no...!!...the hook is to make the switch man feel safe.😂😂
No job is worth that amount of risk
@@Enpsychclopedia it’s not risk if it’s managed correctly and these guys seem to be taking the correct precautions
