Hi there Vivi!🙋🏻♀️ I just came back from the shop. On my way to the shop I prayed and asked God to help me to be nice to everyone I came into contact with. I was nice to everyone and engaged in several pleasant conversations. I was delighted to see you posted! What a perfect addition to a pleasurable day! Take care my friend, Cindy 🌱
I’m a volunteer in our local community village shop and I’m always aware that when I serve someone I might be the only person they speak to that day so I always try to be cheery and if there isn’t a queue I’ll chat to them. If I go through a till in a supermarket and the cashier is kind to the person in front of me I always thank them for being kind to the person ahead of me and say to them they might have been the only person that spoke to them that day.
I swim at the local pool and there is a basic spa facility that I use afterwards. I have had such lovely conversations with folk in there, it really helps to keep my spirits and mental health up. The Scandinavian’s do this as part of their culture and coping with the long dark winters. I know it costs a little bit but the Council run facilities have lots of discount and concessions. I agree with getting outside and having a walk, many benefits x
I was a very outgoing sociable person prior to the pandemic and worked in a job thst took me to various locations in retail. I was always polite and a great believer of the customer journey. My world is smaller and different now but still retain politeness when speaking to others. Very important points you have raised Vivi. We must make the effort to interact with others.
I’ve had so many experiences of people not turning up etc, so this time I contacted a local charity that collects bigger items and gave things away. Yes, I could have made a bit of money selling them, but instead I gave gratitude for the time that I’d had them and gladly passed them on to benefit others. Less stress and a better feeling for me
I totally agree, we must get outdoors and exercise as often as possible all year round. Attended my very first stitching day yesterday with the Stitchery Guild group, which was very social. For an introvert I sometimes have to force myself into these situations but I also recognise the benefits of doing so. Had a wonderful time and look forward to the next one. Thanks for the chat Vivi. 🌟❤️😘
Good morning dear Vivi! You are so spot on when you say a smile costs nothing. I always make a point of saying 'good morning' too. Sometimes you get ignored but other times you not only get a good morning back but also a smile. 😃Since moving to the countryside and living in a small hamlet I made a point of introducing myself to my neighbours whilst out doggie walking and know the names of some forty plus people. When in the city I only knew the names of ten! Well worth making the extra effort. I totally agree with going out and about every day. Sat inside you have nobody to speak to if you are alone (me, I always talk to my three dogs) and at least when you do venture out you usually see someone. Living on the Norfolk Broads if I venture down to the river in the Summer there is always a holiday maker or two to chat to as well. You certainly can meet some very interesting people but have to take the first steps yourself. Enjoy the rest of your day and thank you for keeping me company this morning, Sophie X
When my youngest went to pre-school I was SO depressed for the first little while. One morning I dropped her off and on the way home I stopped at a little convenience store to break my frugal rule and BUY a syrupy coffee drink (yeah, I know....why did I want that?!?! lol). While I was making my drink at their coffee station, a person my family and I have known for years...who worked at the store...approached me and began asking about my family and chatting with me. It. Changed. My. Day! I managed to make it to my car before I burst into happy, relief tears. I had a little cry on the way home and purged my feelings. It really made a difference to have a person chat with me for a few minutes. Another time I was leaving a Dollar General Store and a man who was going in said he'd take my cart for me and he'd use it to shop. I thanked him. He paused and said, "I hope you don't mind me saying this, but you are a nice looking woman." Now that sounds a bit odd...but I was approaching 50 at that time and, odd as it was, I tucked that little compliment away and I'm still living off it. lol The guy probably needed new glasses, but I don't care....I needed a win. I'm going to take your advice and try to get out a bit more. I am a stay at home mom/wife and, like you mentioned, I could stay on our homestead for days at a go....and sometimes I do. I need to at least go to the post office or somewhere now and then and have more human interaction outside of my family. Thanks for the tip! God bless!
Beautiful talk today , Vivi . I think you reached quite a few of us , about our feelings of winter doldrums and other issues. I absolutely agree with the importance of interacting daily in whatever form we can . You’re a wonderful , caring , person, Vivi. ❤xxq
What a lovely video, Vivi! I'm so glad you are feeling better. You look so pretty and bright today, your energy is so lovely to see. Your chat is inspiring, and a great reminder to connect with others and spread kindness as often as possible. Sending love and blessings from Michigan in the USA❤ Anne
Massive 1 week freeze and snow coming for the states. Today making a massive massive cauldron of chili for the soup kitchen tomorrow. You stay warm and keep your spirits up as winter bears down.
So true Vivi… kindness and a smile really does cost nothing and it could make all the difference to someone’s day 😊 And yay The Running Hare is available from my library Vivi!!! Thanks for the recommendation 😆
There is a woman in Ireland "Collette O'Neill" who has a channel called "Bealtaine Cottage". She left everything in London over 20 years ago and bought 3 scrub acres with a run down cottage. She has transformed her plot into an "Eden". One of her most poignant videos was about an old fox that found her sanctuary so he could die in peace. I cried when I watched it. I don't know if you've ever heard of her, but if not, you would love her content.
It's just short of three... Her book us A Cottage and three acres (unless she bought more.. Its been a while since I watched her channel) amazing achievement though. @@cherrypie8796
Hi vivi, great chat. I've always thought it's so important to show interest and kindness to others, life is not just obout ourselves !! Good to hear you're feeling much better. Communication is so important, it's good to talk. XX
Dearest Vivi, I c had to tell you today of all days (American Thanksgiving) how much I appreciate you. Your chats are a smile in themselves. God bless you and please tell your delivery driver I will say a prayer for him and his mum. Happy Thanksgiving and I will be looking for the book also. It sounds wonderful.
Totally agree.. a little human contact makes a difference. I am stuck at home at the moment due to two crunch hips waiting replacement.... some days I can barely get out of bed let alone get out... Yesterday my friend was visiting from Blackpool and we got together a few friends ( 8 of us) and she wanted to see the Xmas market in town.... and a pub crawl.... I know the pubs in Liverpool and where to get a seat, so thought yeah, why not ?.. had a ball, they did the hills and cobbles and we all had regular pub stops for a sit down ( they said it was for me.. I think not) ... today, ah well, today.... I can barely stand up, but I have a smile on my face ..... I always think of you and your knees when I'm hobbling about ..Grit teeth and smile!!. one of my besties is 6'5" tall so he's good to leans on !! 😂
I try to be pleasant to people, especially people like shop staff, cleaners, and delivery people etc. as they are often treated rudely or ignored, and often badly-paid. It usually (occasionally not) results in getting very good service in return. I am quite a reserved person and am not naturally smile-y - in fact I often get told to "cheer up love, it may never happen". Inside though, I am perfectly happy and often just lost in my own little world. The funny thing is that I often seem to get strangers (on the bus, in waiting rooms etc,) telling me all sorts of life stories. My friend thinks it is because I just say the odd "oh really", or "how interesting" , and nod a bit, rather than taking over the conversation. Not sure that is the reason but although I wouldn't dream of doing that myself, I do feel better that maybe I have given them an opportunity to chat.
Just adding a comment about the "sexual abstinence" bit - my 2 siblings and I are all August babies so I wonder what my parents were up to in November/December?
Perfect message and wise counsel, Vivi, on this our Thanksgiving Day in the US. The Running Hare cover art and your book review brought Klaus Haapanemi animal/nature designs and prints to mind. So magical.
EBay has a little camera icon on its search bar that’s quite a good way to judge what other people think an item is worth and often you can find out what the item is and how old/where it’s from etc in the process … not saying you should sell obviously as charity shops rely on decent donations but it’s something you might find useful in the future ….
People don't say "hello" anymore, or "good morning/afternoon" anymore. If someone says hello it makes my day.... it's usually someone of age as well. I always say have a good day to anyone giving a service.... and a smile. It makes me feel better as well! And it's all free 😊

One of my mottos is “kindness is one of the few things I can afford”.
It does take reminding myself, but perhaps we notice what we cultivate.
