I learned about Robert as a child, while reading the Guiness Book of World Records. That was pretty much all there was to read about him, for the local libraries had nothing else. When I first got the internet, one of the first things I did was look for information about him. As time went by I enjoyed reading whatever I could find. Not only about him but others of great height, like Andre the Giant. In 2007 I was diagnosed with Acromegaly. When the doctor told me, I knew exactly what she was describing. I had read it all before about Robert. As my health gradually got worse I would read about Robert. Read about how well mannered he was, always with a smile. I would imagine just how rough it was for him, with his joints in pain just moving from place to place. Yet he never complained. What an inspiration he remains to this day, at least for me. We were blessed by God with this Man. A great blessing indeed.

I'm 76 year old man, and have known of Robert since I was a kid, but this video is really great, I knew he was at least 8 feet tall and passed away at age 22.
I cant believe his massive size was due to the gland in the brain the size of a bean. I'm so sorry to hear that he was in constant pain as well. Rest eternally.
Almost everybody who's famous and extremely tall is that way due to a pituitary or thyroid problem or both, the wrestler Andre the Giant had these problems
I’m very honored to say that Mr.Wadlow and my mother share the same birthday I’m also very honored to say I was born and raised as well as lived only 30 minutes away from Alton Illinois in a town call West Madison Illinois but even more ecstatic to have had an uncle that resided in Alton Illinois I’ve visited Mr.Wadlow’s grave site as well as well as the museum for him Alton Illinois is a beautiful place to me from what I remember I moved away in 1998 not really sure how much has changed but I do believe it’s even more beautiful now than back then🥰🥰🥰🥰
I visited Alton in 2016 and it's such a nice little town! The statue was incredible to stand next to, the museum was so much fun and Village Inn Pancake House was delicious! :)
What great care was taken in making this documentary. Of course, Robert is known across the world for his height - so nice, though, to know his kindness, his family, and friends. Maybe he would have met a girl, and got Married. I know he would never find a woman close to his height but it wouldn't matter. Robert wasn't a bad looking guy, he was well polite, well mannered, and had a wonderful personality. He would have found a a girl
It's so sad he passed away at such a young age...but he is in a better place where no one can say unkind things to him.. He wanted to normal... He is normal now in heaven
Please don’t say things like that. It is presumptuous to assume everyone believes your heaven fairy tale and cruel to say that a person is better off dead than having a full life.
Robert Wadlow came through my hometown of Chillicothe, Ohio, in July, 1939, with his father, sister, and brother. They stopped for a bite to eat at a pharmacy lunch counter, and of course drew a crowd. A picture appeared in the local paper the next day.

He had à disease since his infancy. Unfortunately he died because of his orthopaedic appliance and because in a long term he would have had bone trouble and from his skeleton . His body had to suffer a lot
I remember our family got a Guinness world record book in 1970. There he was. Almost felt sorry for him. 50 years later, we see this, his story, so well done. It makes him more famous to me than anyone. You can see he had a warm heart, kind person. I could not help but weep out of thanks to watch and listen. Now we can say, we sort of know him a little more. I hope all truly good people, even bad ones when young, have some sort of movies made for us by our creator. I'll never forge this incredible video piece of history and person.
Our family had that same Guinness book of records which I read every night as an 11 year old. I was fascinated by Robert, wondering what it would be like to be him. Lovely to find out more about how he lived and what his personality was like.
I had the ‘74 Guinness book that I bought from the school book drive. It had the twin towers WTC as the new tallest building. I loved reading through it. I remember the Robert Wadlow picture both because he was so gigantic but also very friendly looking which was the case in all the pics footage of seen since. What a delightful a d special young man, born to the right family in the right town I would say.
We had a giant guy in my little massachusetts town of westfield back in the 40s and 50s, his name was conrad, everybody knew and liked him, he had a car with the front seats removed and drove from the back seat because of his height....
Stella dear, while his height was truly remarkable, I wonder about the enormous size of something else. His pee pee. At 8’-11” tall, I’m guessing he had quite a stemmer. I’m sure he made many of the young ladies, and farm animals, in the Alton area very happy. Good day.
What a beautiful movie. I’ve known about Robert all of my life, but wonderful to see home movies and hear from those who knew him personally. What better way to be remembered than as a nice young man who was kind to all w a pleasant smile.
One of the sad things is that penicillin became widely available and mass produced just 3 years after Robert's death, which would have have cured his blood infection.
For all the problems and difficulties he had, he still had so much time for kids. That puts him way up there in my book. A truly great person. R.I.P. big fella.
@@dannyackland3983 i dont know, id say being 8ft 11, not being able to just walk in somewhere and sit down, not being able to just jump in any car apart from your Dads, not being able to get on a bus or train comfortably and getting stared at everywhere you go cos theres no one else even close to your size would be a problem. it's always sad when a good person dies so young but I think it was kind of a blessing, this man would have been in horrible pain every day of his life, especially in his joints, also, its a good thing that Robert was born in that era because if he was born today, texting would be incredibly frustrating.
I lived near Alton as a young girl, and visiting Robert's grave I THINK I even sat in the chair In any case I enjoyed your documentary, especially when he had his little brother on his lap. Very sweet.

If I could get to his grave I would put flowers on it. Robert was a real hero and should never be forgotten but he is for the most part but I will never forget him. This video really got to me. Thanks for posting it! 🌝🌈🌼🇺🇸
I'm so thankful for this documentary, I remember as a child I was so fascinated by him and wish I could have met him... We sort of can in this beautiful documentary. What a wonderful person he was!
He is inspiration for all that are different from normal physically, he just lived his life with love and gratitude. He will is a testimony of humanity at our best, he will always motivate the best in us.
What's up from Wisconsin w it's all junk and filthe all remember the TV show from the 1970s gentlemen of Clint Howard
God bless you! Jesus saves sinners!
@@gregsimmons694that's why I'm as evil as possible. 😉
For as someone with so much fame, Robert just wanted to be like everyone else - and wished that kindness to those around him. Thank you for sharing Robert Wadlow's story. Tucson, AZ
he seemed like such a sweet heart but I can only imagine how uncomfortable he felt living in a world that wasn't made for him.
Thanks for uploading! I will remember that face because he really looks like someone you want to call your friend. He radiated kindness all over his face what a beautiful soul! Rest in peace kind man 🕊🤍🕯️
What a nice person Robert was. I'm glad i learned about him.
He was a mason...
I didn't expect to get so emotional but this was a truly beautiful tribute to a beautiful human.
It certainly was! :')

He was 8'11 and was still growing. Imagine how tall he would be if he hadn't died.
Maybe he would have met a girl, and got Married. I know he would never find a woman close to his height
but it wouldn't matter. Robert wasn't a bad looking guy, he was well polite, well mannered, and had a wonderful
personality. He would have found a a girl
Lets say he lives a full life, he would probably be close to 12 or 13 feet! Thats insane!
*lived
8’11.9
Idk you don't really grow much taller after 22 mostly just body mass not height
It's so sad he passed away at such a young age...but he is in a better place where no one can say unkind things to him.. He wanted to normal... He is normal now in heaven
Ugh
Heaven haha get real.
Please don’t say things like that. It is presumptuous to assume everyone believes your heaven fairy tale and cruel to say that a person is better off dead than having a full life.
Size 37 1\2 shoe u can't even imagine what that looks like 😅
@@michaelharrison3602 his walking stick was 5ft2 same height as many women and his hands from wrist to tip of big finger was 13ins,thats crazy.
Robert Wadlow came through my hometown of Chillicothe, Ohio, in July, 1939, with his father, sister, and brother. They stopped for a bite to eat at a pharmacy lunch counter, and of course drew a crowd. A picture appeared in the local paper the next day.
That's so neat! :D
Was there anything left to eat for the other customers afterwards?
@@darrylschultz9395 Must you make of him even in death?
@bluewolf2708 Not my best joke, but do you think he'll mind?
God bless you! Jesus saves sinners!
This was a lovely tribute to a person who was kind, gentle and mannerly, boy that only barely grew into a man. Thank you for the video. Cheers!
1918 to this date 15/08/2021 and beyond He'll never be forgotten. 😥
He was born on same month with me February, I've always watched his videos, I know I'll never get to meet him but I'll never Forget him, he's a record breaker, Robert Wadlow ❤❤
Indeed! ♥♥
july 2024
He seemed like a great person. It’s sad that he passed away way at a young age. Way too soon.
He had à disease since his infancy. Unfortunately he died because of his orthopaedic appliance and because in a long term he would have had bone trouble and from his skeleton . His body had to suffer a lot
God bless you! Jesus saves sinners!
We will always remember Robert Wadlow the tallest man in the World, may he Rest in Peace.
♥
More importantly, Jesus saves sinners! God bless you!
What a wonderful movie.
I’m thankful for what we have today but I also miss when life was simple.
Always nice to hear a story of righteous people.
A film made with love for a change. Sad that he left so early,he could have become a great man in 2 ways.😢😢❤❤
I was born in Alton Illinois in 1978, I remember going on a field trip to see Robert wadlow shoes & other things @ a museum
That's so neat! I went to the Alton Museum in 2016 and it was such a memorable experience! :D
I remember seeing a picture of that.
How old are you?
Bless his sweet heart! Who would bully a larger victim? Only 22, he was short lived but long and fondly remembered.
I first became aware of him from reading the Guinness book of world records. His enormous size is still fascinating. Thanks for uploading.
What a beautiful and remarkable person. Kind, generous, and loving. God Blessed Robert.
What an incredible young champion, RIP Robert.
♥
He seemed to be such a sweet and kind person, he was always smiling.
He was! :)
What a gentle person!! May his soul rest in peace!!
Jesus saves sinners! God bless you!
The tallest human to have ever walked the Earth. Seemed like a very sweet and nice fella, rest in peace Robert 🕊️
Literally no way to be sure of who the tallest person to ever walk the earth was.
It's good to see a history of this kind person
One of the sad things is that penicillin became widely available and mass produced just 3 years after Robert's death, which would have have cured his blood infection.
Penicillin saved me in 1954, given to fight my near fatal pneumonia. My temp dropped from 105-plus to normal in one day.
God bless you! Jesus saves sinners
@@gregsimmons694 And that is relevant why?
@@myredpencil Its the most relevant thing you could ever imagine
The pain he must have suffered physically. What a nice man, and im glad i watched this. Thank you.
For all the problems and difficulties he had, he still had so much time for kids. That puts him way up there in my book. A truly great person. R.I.P. big fella.
He didn't have problems he was just unsually tall he caught an infection due to falty leg braces
Would be to me anyhow.
👍
Jesus saves sinners! God bless you!
I had a huge smile on my face while watching this video. Wish I had known Robert Wadlow because he seems like a great fellow.
excellent documentary of a kind, lovable giant of a person
What a sad but beautiful story. Robert God made you different so your time on earth although short would be a memorable time. RIP Robert your smile lives on. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I will never forget u robert wadlow i. Miss u RIP ROBER WADLOW :(( ❤️🥺
Absolutely an exceptional man and documentary. Thanks for sharing, much appreciated.
He seems to be a gift from God . A loving and thoughtful person with an even bigger heart ♥️ then his size .
No, he was a mason...
Amazing video he was very kind to others people in hes hometown also respected him this video show’s everyone is human it doesn’t matter how tall they are or any disabilities he also has a place in this world and in the hearts of others may Robert be layed to rest
Thank you for uploading this wonderful documentary.
You're welcome! :)
God bless you! Jesus saves sinners!
this is such a lovely lovely programme. People were so quietly spoken back then. and he was a lovely person. ❤
That was so wonderful to see I have always found him interesting and I have enjoyed reading all the comments.
A beautiful soul…sad he died so young ….
God bless you! Jesus saves sinners!
Being tall is great but that tall would be terrible. Everything would have to be fitted to your size and the fact that he was always happy is very impressive.
He kept up a positive spirit! :)
That was so beautiful! I have heard of Robert but was so lovely to see the people closest to him had the appreciation of seeing past his height, there was so much more to him than that, so kind intelligent with a lovely smile ❤
What a wonderful, dear person he was!!
Indeed he was! :')
I've always been aware of who Robert was, but this is the first documentary about him that I've watched. I cried a lot, but I'm so glad I watched it. What a lovely, gentle soul. Rest in peace Robert.
Never knew of him before today. Randomly came across a video of him and had to know more. Makes me wonder how tall he would've grown if the infection didn't kill him at such a young age. That aside, he seems to be a sweet down to earth guy. RIP Robert Wadlow.
it's always sad when a good person dies so young but I think it was kind of a blessing, this man would have been in horrible pain every day of his life, especially in his joints, also, its a good thing that Robert was born in that era because if he was born today, texting would be incredibly frustrating.
God bless you! Jesus saves sinners!
He seemed so sweet. He will never be a footnote....he will always be remembered.
I lived near Alton as a young girl, and visiting Robert's grave
I THINK I even sat in the chair
In any case I enjoyed your documentary, especially when he had his little brother on his lap. Very sweet.
It's nice that Robert lived in a small enough town where people treated him, mostly, normally.
It's a testament to a life well lived that people have nothing negative to say about you.
Only that you were kind, didn’t lose your temper, that you lived a clean life and were respected.
He's one of the people that I really wish I could have met.
I have met Robert Before 1918-1940 8'11⅑ Is Mentality! I am 98 Years Old my name is Ruby Harris and I sat by him in class! All the time. It is mental, When I was 11, 87 Years Ago, I Sat By Him Once And Said You Look 6'0, Robert Said, I Am 6'0 I Don't Know Why I Grow This Fast, The Vast Majority Of My Class Was 4'5 - 4'8 I Was 4'5 I Was On The Shorter Side, at the time, Robert Was 1'7in taller than me. I use my brothers account James Harris, Because I Don't Use UA-cam Much. But I wanted to find Wadlow and I did. He died of elliptical seizures and attacks in his body. 439lbs is light for someone 9'0ft. ❤❤❤ R.I.P Robert Pershing Wadlow!
What an amazing and kind young man. This video presentation brought a tear to my eye imagining everything he had endured yet kept a smile on his face. Thank you for sharing this story about Robert Wadlow, a truly outstanding man!
Robert Wadlow is a true legend.
He sure is! :D
Just looking at his photos he has such an old soul... I know he died young but there's just something about his aura in the photos that says he fulfilled when he was here for. 💯🙏
