  • My sons and I were planning a ridgeline hike in Franklin Mountains State Park, but the weather turned out worse than expected. High winds with cold temperatures did not sound like a lot of fun, so we sought lower ground hoping to get some good pictures instead. While the picture taking was not that great, we did get some cool timelapses of the clouds interacting with the mountains.
    Thank you for watching!

West Texas and Wind just go together. Glad to see a new ChucoHiker video.

They certainly do. March-April is our windy period out here, nothing like the occasional mouthful of sand heh-heh.
I hope to put some more videos soon. I have 3 more that are 90% done, and a couple of others planned.

Thanks for sharing, where does the trail start? EP is my home town. Living in Florida now.

This was a short jaunt in Tom Mays on a bit of trail that connects Schaeffer Shuffle to Lower Sunset at the northern end of the park.
If you remember the layout of Tom Mays, this one starts near the group site restrooms.

You’re welcome! It’s definitely worth visiting, although it’s quite a drive for you. You have access to some pretty cool parks where you’re at.

Thank you 🙏🙏. It’s good knowing when a video is well received 🙂. I wasn’t sure on this one, and I have some future ones that are a little different for my channel. But it’s all part of the fun :)

No snow, just bitter cold heh-heh. I’ve been planning that ridgeline hike for a while too, we were going to scout out a route to a new summit for me. Alas, the winds had different ideas.

Thank you! I’m glad I was able to get this footage at least. It salvaged the trip somewhat, I was originally hoping for some exciting ridgeline shots. Oh well, another day.
