Hi Kate. I quickly tried this myself and found that you can actually close off the open columns you made to enable this, after you have finished with it all, to create a more seamless wall and skip the fencing part for the exterior trim. To do so, you need to place a pre-shaped room [one of the 4 options between the basement tool and the flat floor pieces] next to the open gap, so that one of the new room's walls is covering it; this should close off the column without deleting the roofing. Then you can just delete 1 by 1 the other walls of this room, and then finally the floor to get rid of it all [and it needs to be done in that order with deleting the floor last or it will delete the glass roof]. Hopefully I explained this well and it works for you and everyone else; and thank you for always producing quality tutorials for these building tricks!
Sadly this didn't work for me. As soon as I deleted the floor (last thing I did) the roof piece disappeared. :( I did however, find that if you are building this without money cheats it is cheaper to place the roof piece in the center columns and just expand the eaves all the way on one side and half-way (3 squares) on the inside so that the two rooves make up the entire span. Instead of using 3 rooves per floor for a total of 6 roof pieces, it's only 2 per floor or 4 roof pieces. Awesome idea. Thank you for sharing.
The option to expand eaves longer than 2 tiles was added in a patch to PC a while ago. This patch comes to console on Tuesday and it will work just the same on console on Tuesday! :)
I've noticed people making the same question after trying this all this 5 years. Before you try it, know that USING ROOF AS WALL DOESN'T MAKE A INDOOR ROOM. Only using both walls and roofs will set a "enclosed" region. Do it for the aesthetics, but be aware that for all gameplay purposes it's gonna be just like you're outside.
This is not only an incredibly innovative technique, you explain it really well. You are a natural teacher. Thank you. Edit to say, this is going to change my A-Frames so much!
I've been leaving comments on most of your videos lately which is so rare of me but I'm just amazed every time???? You literally make the most of every single thing in the game. Instead of complaining about what we don't have, you create it yourself and that's SO amazing!! EA should totally hire you to help them come up with some ideas cause you just make building in the sims so much fun!!
Just looking at the thumbnail I thought it is CC, but then I read the title and I'm so happy it's not CC 😊 Their is nothing wrong with CC and mods, its just when you have a weak computer/laptop you can't have them 😔
@@sol_pregnantguy yes, but it lags and crashes like crazy. My computer died because of how old it is and loads of mods/CCs I had. But of course this isn't the games fault. It was a really old computer.
@@sol_pregnantguy It's Something Called "Specs" and it matters ... this could be a very old pc and the impact of a lot of files ... "Memory" ETC causes your game to lag even if the specs meet requirements for sims 4 plus consider the processor would be very slow .. I believe you just needed to be heard ........... LOL
I've literally saved all your tutorials to a playlist so I can reference them from my phone to try and follow while I attempt to build something better than connected rectangles. You're so insanely creative, I can't wait to give this a whirl!!
You are literally the best and smartest Sim UA-camr. Your videos are so helpful. I am speechless. Thank you so so much for this, your videos bring me joy
You are amazing at building in the Sims. How you aren't a part of their team is insane to me. You are so creative and always suprise me with what you come up with next... I can't wait to try this ♥️
I've been playing with this, and have found that doing one angle-out roof on a two story house along one sea-facing (non)wall is jaw-droppingly beautiful. I only use one roof, on the lower level, hidden in one column. I make the roof 1x1, and stretch one eave to one side and up all the way to the top of the second floor. I've also been using the same 1x1 half gable roof for the driveway to my garage on foundation, as per your other video. I have found that you can pull the eave off the lot and into the ground, which makes it look super realistic as a ramp and saves space. Thank you for all of your excellent tutorials!
How is it that I just discovered you TODAY? I've been binge watching your videos today. You are an amazing builder and I have already learned so much. I subscribed about 2 minutes into the first video of yours I watched. You are amazing and so clear with the details. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You do a really great job teaching this technic. It was very helpful especially doing it with the windows going the opposite direction and continuing to narrate not only what you are doing but why. Thanks!
kate you are a 1000 iq sims player.. i tried to do this from just looking at the thumbnail but i had to give up and watch the whole video lol. thank you for making tutorials!
I was so disappointed when trying it by myself, thinking it would be so easy to add this kind of glass wall to my build. I also never build so it took a lot of willingness to try lol. So glad there's a trick to it and thank you so much for sharing!
Omg.. I kept watching this with a smile and kept saying "omg she's so amazing and creative!" Idk how you come up with these wonderful ideas! So great thank you so much for sharing and inspiring us all!!! Thanks
Hey Kate:)) just wanna say that you're amazing! Your tutorials are so helpful! They might not be the most entertaining, but you have great ideas and you explain your steps so well. I'm finally having fun with this game instead of being just frustrated all the time! Love ya xx

The fact that you dont have millions and millions of followers astonishes me. You definitely deserve it! ❤❤❤ So glad you randomly popped up in my recommended- the only good recommendation from UA-cam tbh😂
It seems like you could simply mirror your "roof" sections and get a span of 12 tiles per window instead of 6. And if a section isn't directly on a main corner of the structure you could have each side of it span the full 6 tiles without losing your 1-tile width columns. I'll have to try it and see how it looks. Anyway, this is really creative. Thanks for sharing.

Sims 4 fans: EA needs to add glass walls.
EA: Do you know how hard that is?
Kate Emerald: Hold my half gabled roof.

Aww, I am sure your builds are amazing! :)
For those of you who play on the ps4 to do this you would hold square and x at the same time to only adjust one side of the roof.
