Latin. It's a hymn to Our Lady of Montserrat (literally, the jagged mountain - and the name fits)! I translate the chorus as "Star shining like the sunlight upon the mountain high/ Thy jagged hill of wonders, O hear thy people's cry." Not perfectly literal but pretty darn close. The miraculous statue at Montserrat has been a pilgrimage destination for a long long time, and this medieval hymn is from the collection of the pilgrimage songs that's kept there: the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat, or Red Book.
