To me, Kili’s looks don’t appear natural for a dwarf. I get that he’s young, but the fact that he almost doesn’t have a beard just seems off to me. I’m guessing that, due to the generation of Dwarves that he grew up in that were forced to have more interactions with humans than their kind normally do, Kili and to some extent his brother Fili, both adopted the looks of men in a sort of young rebellious phase. What I mean is, Kili is clearly shaving his beard very regularly. Which is almost blasphemous to a Dwarf.
Peter Jackson and his team chose to keep him without a beard because they wanted him go to be the "hot" dwarf so they completely changed his look from the book. I don't think they added a backstory or anything for the way he looks, but yours would be a good one! Also, it is said that he "can't grow a beard". He doesn't shave, he just can't grow a full beard apparently.
