    Recently here in the UK, from Black Friday to the end of January, several main retailers were selling Both Instinct version for under £200. I got my Graphite Instinct Solar at £199.99 from Argos and until recently John Lewis was doing similar deals. The non-solar version was as cheap as £128.99. The deals have ended, but there are the odd online deals. I learnt a few things about my Instinct Solar, like it can Solar charge when powered off slightly quick than on! I also got a charge base, extra USB/charge cable and pair of rubber charge port covers online. The port covers help keep the charge port clean, since it close to your skin. They also eliminates connection errors. Best watch for my needs.

      Hi Konradc12, thank you so much for taking time to leave a detailed comment. I am really glad to hear that the solar and regular version have come down in price. The more the solar comes down, the better a deal and value I believe you get! That definitely is good to know about turning the solar off to charge faster. I would be honored with your subscription if you haven't already. Have a great day!

    back in april i went on a long distant hike and was able to keep the watch in power saving mode. it turns off all the sensors and is a basic watch. but after a few days of being under a green tunnel i started noticing the time on my battery kept going up every day and eventually it just had a infinity sign while on power saving mode. when i turned back onto normal mode it said it had 56 days of charge. after two months of hiking i only had to charge the watch once but i did not use the gps much.

    I like the idea of Solar but for the large price jump, the standard is good ...the thing is, once I am lured into the Solar price point... then that puts me in Fenix territory, and I'd be tempted to switch to say a Fenix 6 watch instead, (and I would not probably use all the features of that) so the standard instinct is a great value buy IMHO

    Some users say that the battery drains more quickly than what Garmin says. Use it on the smart watch mode only, not pusle ox, no GPS, just ocassional activities at the weekend, they have to get it recharged after 10 days.

    Hi. I've read that due to the cut corners, the digits/letters that are in the bottom part of the watch are being cut a bit from each side. This is not meant to be in the non Solar model. Have you noticed that? Thnx.

      Hi Thomas, thank you for your comment and support of the channel. Yes, in fact I have seen this. That issue was reported to Garmin and is being fixed as part of the upgrade to the Instinct 2. You can charge your Instinct in 20-40 min? I just got a new Instinct solar and it was dead out of the box. It took me almost 3 hours to get to a full charge, and I was also solar charging at the same time. (I don't know if that works or not). So now you have me wondering...? What charger are you using with the supplied usb cable? I used my old Samsung Note 3 charger. (the white one - 5v 2amp) Has anyone used any of the newer fast chargers to charge their Instinct? I couldn't find a straight answer on Garmin's website about the amperage limits on charging.

    • @CoastieOutdoors
      @CoastieOutdoors  2 роки тому

      Hi Grant, I apologize for the delay getting back to you and hope you have had better luck with your charging in the meantime. You have a great question, and I appreciate that you brought it up. I actually switch between my nook and iPhone charger (using garmin's proprietary cord). My apple seems to charge it a little faster, and honestly it charges within 30-45 minutes from dead. Have you been able to get more details on your charging situation? I hope you have a great day!

      @@CoastieOutdoors I did find a response on Garmin's website in reply to someone with a similar question as mine. Garmin replied to them that slower was better for the longevity of the battery. (Well obviously Garmin...lol) I have since been using (ironically) a slower HTC phone charger from days past. It is a 5v 1 amp, and it chargers my instinct faster than the Samsung 2 amp does. I now charge from 1-2% to full in just under two hours. So I can see how a newer charger may boost that to your posted times. I haven't experienced a 3 hour charge again since the first out of the box experience. I'm happy with the 2 hour time, I usually charge this watch once every 2-3 weeks. So a middle of the night 2 hour charge while I'm sleeping doesn't bug me at all. Thanks for replying! Love the watch by the way!
