Sinking and Sourcing

Sometimes electrical and electronic components need to be connected in different ways. Sinking and sourcing are two ways of connecting components and influences the amount of current that can be used along with the programming logic used to control them.

In sinking configuration by increasing the value of resistor , can we use the load which draws much higher current? As PIC is just used as a switch to close the circuit and we are protecting it with higher value resistor.

Shouldn't the current limiting resistor in the sinking configuration be between the LED and the VCC connection? Or will it matter?

Sir, when is current negative? Say if the 7400 IC says that IOH = -0.4mA, IOL = 16mA

Sir tell me please, What is the difference between -ve and ground.If I connect a load to ground to -ve is it work?
