Honestly, I love the ISR with a turbo. However, when I first got it, my car was N/A, and I used my parents' garage. On startup, I got an angry text that my mom felt the floor shaking from the opposite side of the house. Luckily, I went boosted within a few weeks.
I have been looking for quality videos of the ISR on a turbo. Surprisingly hard to find. Love the ISR sound, hoping the turbo takes the edge off for something that sometimes does DD/touring duty.
Honestly one of if not the best customer support at bofi I was having some issues with my car dropped them a msg and they gave me some advice and help to what it may be aswell as having the parts available
I actually like the sound silenced, and with the noise reduction its perfect for the street. Can't wait for the dyno footage to see if it takes away a lot of power.
I know its cliche but I love glasspacks on 4 cylinder cars. Comfortable volume AND deeper exhaust? Yes please. I bought a used catback that had the rear muffler cut in half (idk why but it was like $30) and welded in the longest glasspack I could (and a new tip of course). Couldn't be happier.
Oh, yes, MiataDad has given his asthmatic youngest son a little help breathing better! Now, if you give him his inhaler too, maybe he can at least go for a light jog with his (often injured) pro athlete big brother?😆
I had the M2 motorsport decat back system just like this one and it done me very well until about 1 year/ 5,000 ish miles of usage I had to get 2 flanges welded back on due to them breaking on the welds. Other than that it is one exhaust system id recommend if you’re on a budget.
I've just had this exhaust fitted as part of my turbo conversion to my 1.8na. I had a custom 2.25" exhaust fitted previously and the M2 was the only exhaust available in 2.5" to help the turbo be more efficient. Ive had it paired with an M2 decat pipe and shit, it bangs and burbles like nothing else. (A bit too much at times). I haven't tried it with the baffle as I didn't want it to take some horses away from me. But I think I'll give it ago, and paint it black first, naturally.
Surprised at the difference in tone between the silencer vs without. The silencer makes it sound more "muted" and cuts out some of the lower overtones. Without the silencer, I hear more of the lower overtones included in the sound spectrum while still keepng some of the upper overtones included for some added extra zing.
@@R03333 felt that I have 99-2000 version of speedy efi and there's literally no videos about it I've been doing everything in the dark. No forums either. It's a new ecu from Arduino speedy efi
Got this exhaust 2 years back not a bad exhaust for the price. Big shout out to bofi racing too the one stop shop in the UK for mx5 stuff and thingys lol.
I've got the ISR in my car, and I agree it's so loud it's uncomfortable. I got an aftermarket silencer tip for it and it cut down the noise exponentially. No more heavy droning and it still sounds good. That M2 sounds really good and makes me want to sell the ISR for it lol
So I recently went with the Cobalt midpipe (carb legal one) with the Roadster sport 4 muffler. It’s honestly sounding really good and I don’t have to worry about smog cause of the carb number. Muffler also comes with a DB reducer as well for longer drives.
I like the point you made with having a silenter that can be installed for long trips. I have a borla and can't wait to rip it off!!! It drones like crazy!!! I wanted to get a center exit exhaust from MX-5 Parts in the UK, but they stopped making them. I think IL Motorsports still may sell one, but their site sucks and I can't get the complete list of parts at times, it's real strange. Best Always,
Yes Greg! So happy you went and bought what I recommended 😀 now if people ask me if I have a video of how my exhaust sounds I can point them to you 😉 I'm still running stock headers though... Kind of on the fence between Racing Beat and those gorgeous ISR high risers
hey, so you have an m2 exhaust with stock headers??? how it sound? is there a big difference between stock headers and racing beat? I was planning to buy one for my nb but I have stock headers
I reallyu appreciate you taking the time to do all of this. I can't imagine how long all of those sound tests took; however, that thing sounds not great.
So I take it you ordered the header back/midpipe and the back box, right? The complete cat back system looks very different from their pictures. This video did come at the right time as I'm exhaust shopping.
Sounds pretty tight with and without the baffle. You could totally hear all the rust and broken metal parts flying around in the old stock muffler. I'm about to choose which exhaust to get. I always check this channel first since I know he's literally obsessed with Miatas. So M2 Motorsports from the UK eh? That may be what I choose. Imma check tho. I have to order a header set too.
It doesn't look like it in the vid but that's one big ass tail pipe for a pocket sized mazda! Like 3.5 inches! I'll be chopping off mine soon and banging on a 2.5" tail end 😲
I have one of these on a supercharged car with a 4-1 header and I will say it's really really loud, like tinnitus/headache inducing, even with the slightest crack of the throttle. Need to get a cat put back in to see if it helps but otherwise likely going to have to change :( Imagine it'd be ok on a turbo.
I would really like to know how much of this melody is made by headers and how much by the M2 exhaust. Do you have any videos with this exhaust and stock headers? anyway thank you very much for this amazing review!!😍
Damn that sounds good. My torsen 3.9 rear end came for my 1999 Miata (doing the FM turbo kit and more). I was watching another video from awhile back (Gingum), and he did it to his NA awhile back....he said he needed a shorter driveshaft? He also got beefier axles....I did a little research but not finding it.............do I also need a different driveshaft for the NB? This summer is just the FM turbo kit then next summer more boost (fuel pump, injectors, stand alone ECU, etc). Thanks.....and that exhaust sounds great
Hey mate. Really nice exhaust. Unfortunatly it is not allowed in Germany (no approval like for example the magnaflow exhaust) or at least not like this without a cat.... Im still trying to make it happen, because I freakin love the sound. One question though. Will the middle section also fit on a NB/FL Mx-5? Because thats what Ive got (2002 Mx-5).
Now I'm curious if you can mod the silencer to find a happy medium between the two. Saw a video of someone using a vw golf pancake mufler on a miata and now I'm hooked on the idea of the can not being visible even after a bumper cut

what happened to the O2 sensor on the cat? no check engine codes?
Yes Greg! Thats got to be the best and only box for a mk2! However I don't wonna step out of line but have you tried it with the stock mid section? Much deeper tones going up the rev range.
I may actually run it this way for street use, that way I can leave the cat in place as well. If I end up trying it out I will throw a clip in a video too.
I bought this exact set last year because my cat went dead and I chopped up the fake cat piece to weld a 200cell race cat in place. Sounds about the same (uncorked) currently still running stock headers.
Exhaust question for a stock internal 1.8 with turbo max 12 psi. Is full 3in exhaust worth the potential fitment issues worth it over a full 2.5 in system. Both straight piped to a big magnaflow muffler? Appreciate input
There will technically be measurable gains with a 3" on a turbo car, but for most people probably not worth switching from a 2.5". 2.5 is super easy to fit.
I really want to get this exhaust with my nb paired with the racing beat header, this set up online says around 764$ and that seems a bit steep without adding the racing beat header
I’m thinking of one of these M2’s (with removable baffle) for my NA 1.6 Greg, how have you found this system, does it drone at all? Love your work by the way, always professional and so so detailed. Great work 😄👍🏻
Yes it does have some drone, you may want to consider trying the muffler alone with the stock midpipe which will be quieter. I'm thinking about trying that myself just to see how it sounds, but from what other people are saying it's like a toned down version
I have not been pulled over for exhaust noise in the last 15 years 🙂 usually they won't pull you over for just exhaust, they pull you over for stupid driving or general sketchiness
hello! I have a doubt! I removed the cam gear to install timing belt! they carry an exact position? I mean cam gear. I see that it has several positions where a small bolt goes. 2000 nb Miata thank.
The locating pin on the cam needs to face the correct letter on the gear. So if it's the exhaust cam the pin needs to face the "E". On the intake cam it needs to face the "I"

wanna post a sound clip bro? I've wanted to hear the IRS with a tubro
Same i love the isr, its perfect, but i do like the sound of a screamer pipe
Post a sound clip broooooooother
I have been looking for quality videos of the ISR on a turbo. Surprisingly hard to find. Love the ISR sound, hoping the turbo takes the edge off for something that sometimes does DD/touring duty.
Yeah dude for sure, turbo basically takes all loud exhausts and makes them sound so good 😃
Honestly one of if not the best customer support at bofi I was having some issues with my car dropped them a msg and they gave me some advice and help to what it may be aswell as having the parts available
No silencer is definitely best. Nice option for a road trip though, like you said.
I actually like the sound silenced, and with the noise reduction its perfect for the street. Can't wait for the dyno footage to see if it takes away a lot of power.
This is one of the best exhaust reviews I have ever seen. Pulls and revs under different loads... interior and exterior mic locations. Thank you.
I buy everything from bofi for my mx5 and they have never let me down. Extremely friendly and they have some mad builds. Customer service is amazing
I’ve had one sat in my spare room for over a year . Waiting on me to finish putting my car together . This video has me re-stoked about it

Post videos of the bangs and pops!
Awesome video! The NOS clip was the cherry on top 💀

Sounds really nice for the cost, I'd have to hear it in person to get a better impression lol. The roadster sport is still king imo
That is the first time I've seen that exhaust flange sealer thing and holy fuck every exhaust ever should be sold with those.
I'd be much obliged to you if you'd make a video on how to tune that insane 2step! Damn it's the best n/a miata launch i've seen!
Rolling spark cut, and 0 timing brotha

which silencer tip did you end up going with? Im wanting a quieter ride on road trips.
I love the M2 (Silencer) sound from the inside. It sounded exotic.
I love my M2 Motorsports exhaust. Nice and deep.
So I recently went with the Cobalt midpipe (carb legal one) with the Roadster sport 4 muffler. It’s honestly sounding really good and I don’t have to worry about smog cause of the carb number. Muffler also comes with a DB reducer as well for longer drives.
How do you like the RoadsterSport 4? Was thinking of buying an RS4 and Racing Beat intake.
@@michaelsaywhat6980 it’s pretty good. It has a nice deep tone when cruising. Doesn’t drone at freeway speeds.

I reallyu appreciate you taking the time to do all of this. I can't imagine how long all of those sound tests took; however, that thing sounds not great.
This is why there are dozens of exhausts to choose from, so everyone can find one that they think sounds great.
I’m so glad you posted this video because this is the exhaust I’ve been wanting to get but I’ve been unsure up until now so thank you!! 😆
Finally more NB content!
currently using this on my NA and it's my favourite by far
So I take it you ordered the header back/midpipe and the back box, right? The complete cat back system looks very different from their pictures.
This video did come at the right time as I'm exhaust shopping.
Yes I ordered the the back box and mid-pipe separately, in the separate categories on their site
Yay! Miata Monday!!! I needed this today... And it's 2SJ as well!!! woot!!!
Oh yeah time to jam out to a new TCPC vid! 😎
My NA has a Jackson Racing exhaust and I love it. Decently loud with almost no drone. Bad thing is, I don't know if they make it anymore.
Sounds pretty tight with and without the baffle. You could totally hear all the rust and broken metal parts flying around in the old stock muffler. I'm about to choose which exhaust to get. I always check this channel first since I know he's literally obsessed with Miatas.

Defo the best exhaust in the uk without a doubt. They sound even nicer after roughly a month or so
Good to know, I'll keep an ear out!
i remember having the enthuza exhaust and then i got my buddy club spec 2 and i loved it even more
It sounds so good uncorked
Awesome vid! Now if I can just find a reasonably priced NB. THey are so overpriced right now it's a joke.
Wow this is a really slick looking system. Wish I had gone with this instead of the ebay special for about the same amount of money
Fine just bought it for my NA8 since my ISR is not daily drive friendly
I’m just glad your still working Miata’s and didn’t switch over to mustangs or corvettes lol

I can't wait for the NB to keep up with a raptor... YOU NEED NOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
I just want to shout out to Greg's slick haircut!
I have this muffler with my custom exhaust. It’s great, little bit on the loud side for me personally but nonetheless it sounds great
Did you get the fake cat as well? I’m wondering if there’s a muffler or something in there, or if it’s just straight through like a test pipe
Dual resonated mid-pipe. No cat
By my calculations... Insert the Sheldon meme now. 👍👍👍👍
Love the videos. Thinking of getting the Hooker Blackheart axel back for my nb. Has a nice throaty sound in person.

How much power do you make now after fitting the head with the basic mods you tested in your 2 previous video's.
i have a 99 1.8 also, im gonna get an ecu soon... me221 with a wideband vs me442?
I have put off doing a header and exhaust because I don’t want my 1.2 liter supercharger to be stupid loud and kill the experience of the car.
Can you do a video on cat deletes amd exhaust. Maybe help with the codes
I will say for $200 more the build quality on the RS4 looks much better. I like the tone more as well.
Mine is arrived today, im gonna mount on a nb2 turbo🤓

the malian one sound way better it loud yes but thr sound is perfect
