    I live in a century-old abandoned factory, so there are lots of mice here. At first I felt really badly seeing their tiny little furry corpses in my traps. That is, until the day I went to get a slice of pita bread and found a tiny little hole gnawed in the bag, a miniscule dime-sized hole chewed into one slice... and mouse turds covering all the rest. After that it was: *I AM BECOME DEATH, DESTROYER OF WORLDS.*

    When I had a dog, she ate dry dog food, but so did the mice! I'd be sitting here at the computer and Murphy's bowl was just around the corner about 8 feet from here. I kept hearing something move the food in her bowl and thought it was her eating, and I'd look into the next room and she'd be sound asleep! We found lots of her food under the couch cushions. One night I actually saw what was going on. They'd run around the wall at the baseboard from the living room into the kitchen where her food was, travelling at almost light speed, they'd jump into her bowl and spring right back out with a chunk of her food and run right back where they came from! It all took place in about 3 seconds! They would do this 5 or 6 times a night! So, I outsmarted the little bastards!! I left her bowl where it was, but put an unbaited trap in the bowl. I might've left a few kernels of her food in the bowl to act as bait. Lo & behold, the next time they jumped into her bowl for food, they had a surprise waiting for them!! They'd jump in, but would never jump out again!! The trap caught `em!! I nailed at least 3 of the bastards that way!! After that, Spring was here and they left.

      Thank you! I'm pretty good at coming up with great ideas! A few years ago, mom was in her last few months of life after dealing with a stroke and LOTS of cancer. She'd be sitting in her lift chair but felt cold, so she'd ask me to put her sweater on her backwards because she was also too hot to wear it (OR a blanket) the right way. A short while later, she'd pull the sweater back down to her legs saying she was too hot for it, then she'd get cold and want it back on again. Her arms were cold, but not the rest of her so, she didn't want to be covered by it, but she needed it on her arms but, to do so, I had to cover her chest, too. So, I went up to the store and bought a pair of black leg warmers, brought them home and put one on each of her arms! That solved the problem! Now, her arms would be warm, but she wouldn't be too hot from the sweater or blanket! Even her nurse said that was a great idea!

    From the inside and the outside scan the perimeter to find where they are getting in. A dime sized whole is large enough for them to squeeze through. Look for food trails, hairs, and greasy sebum from them squeezing through tight spaces. They use the scent from their body secretions to know how to get in and out of you home or business. Look up, mice and rats can scale shear up the side of a flat surface. So don't just look around the perimeter at ground level. Fill the holes with fine steel wool then seal with a caulking/sealant. Go to the confectionery isle, store, or online and purchase 100% peppermint oil. Not extract, Not essence of, Not essential oil. Cover your eyes and nose when you open the bottle. Add a few drops to a multi purposes spray bottle filled with water. Check the mixture to make sure there is a strong peppermint smell. Don't over do it. The oil is very strong and very expensive. Only use what you need. If you're feeling foggy, make your own pepper spray using the hottest peppers you can find. Jalapenos are hot enough though. Place a few peppers and water in a blender. Blend with the cap on. Wear gloves and cover nose and eyes when opening/handling. Pour the blend through a fine strainer, hosiery, or cheese cloth. Add the liquid to your peppermint oil and water filled spray bottle. Do not use pepper spray if you have small children that play or crawl on the floor, or pets. Spray the mixture anywhere you see mouse activity. Spray along baseboards and in dark tight spaces. Spray along the perimeter of the outside. You will need to reapply every so often outside. You will be free of mice, rates, raccoons, Possom, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, dragons, and dinosaurs.

Hubby and I watched this together and I got very queasy about sharing our home unknowingly with rodents. Do we need an exterminator to investigate how they are getting into our house??? I found a pile of bird food under one roll!!! We have a bird feeder front and back. My daughter left the bird food lay in the kitchen for 2-3 days after her daily fills. Does the mice come into my kitchen and return to the bathroom sink nest? We keep the bathroom door closed so how does it get in and out to access the bird food? I am sick about this new discovery. I hope Hubby can deal with this issue as I know I cannot see the carnage you described. I am an animal lover😳😩☹️ but cannot share my home, especially during quarantine😥😭👊🏼

    I'm moving into a log cabin and I just saw a mouse on the kitchen counter. The mouse and I both made eye contact. The mouse and I were probably both freaked out at our existence. I've only moved a recliner, some tires, and some tools into it so far. Instead of moving more stuff into the place tomorrow, I'm going to set some traps and lay out some poison. I'm thinking about "hiring" a cat now. I've heard that the smell of a cat is enough to scare away mice.

    That's a hell of a lot of mice. You might want to look around and find out where they are coming in at and plug the holes with some steel wool or aluminum foil. Doesn't sound like you're getting rid of them you're just keeping them at a constant number.

    41 mice is not a little bit of a problem. You need to find and seal up the holes the mice are using to enter the house. If you can't control or eliminate the mice yourself, call a professional to handle the mice problem. The video was kinda cute...

    Two BEST tips: 1) locate and plug their entrance, often it can be a gap between wall and concrete foundation or pipe passages. 2) Set the trap @90% to the wall or cabinet base.(as mentioned)

    2 liter bottle. Drill one inch hole in it 2 inches below the cap. Make a tube from paper, about post card thick and size.
    Put the tube in the hole. Put peanut butter on the inside edge of the tube. Five or six inches of water in the bottle.
    Stand the bottle up with the tube in an area the mice can reach. I have been able to catch half a dozen mice reloading the peanut butter a few times.
    Toss the bottle in the trash and make a new one. They feel safe in the tube but it can't support their weight.

  • @warmhandswarmheart
    @warmhandswarmheart 5 років тому +2

    You will NEVER get rid of mice with traps or a cat unless you find and plug where they are getting into your house. I used steel wool mixed with glue to plug the small spaces. If you don't prevent them from coming in, you will catch dozens and new ones will just replace them. The ones you dont catch will breed and before you know it you are overrun. He used humor but it's no joke.
