  • This vid shows my progress toward having an Off Grid Workshop. I have my panels mounted on the roof, joule ringers running LEDs for light, a small inverter to power a radio, and the Rocket Stove set up for heat. I will be tieing in the Savonius V.A.W.T. To the battery bank soon.

Does the joule thief actually use less power per lumen than a 12v dc L.E.D. ?

I wish I new the answer to that. I have asked myself the same question. If I had a lumens meter I could figure it all out. The V2 seems way more efficient than the one wrapped on the PVC. The way the transistor changes frequency per bulb added is pretty cool. When each bull is added they do get a little dimmer. Again without the lumens meter I don't no by how much. Guess I'll be looking for a lumens meter in there near future. It only makes sense to find out. By the way I really enjoyed seeing the decomposition heater, very cool.
