      WARNING : newer units come with a flow gauge so you can see how many Ltrs/hr your producing and the owners manual now has added info to advise that in warmer water you should not exceed the 140 ltr/hr as it will shorten the life of your membranes. Therefore, decrease pressure to bottom of green or a bit below that until you're at 140 Ltr/hr. Great video BTX and I watched it before ordering our unit. Feel free to check with Rainman in Sydney, you know how helpful they are,

      Hey thanks very much for that info. Rainman have seen our video and even shared it. They are certainly incredibly helpful so I will certainly ask them about the pressure issue. Cheers Rob.

    Agree, Used petrol Rainman for 6 years, Loved it! 1 fault about 6mths in (leaky connector), which they fixed pronto. We made a connection to a keel water intake, which allowed water to be picked up while on passage, MUST be deeper than any potential bubbles. Next time prob permanently instal as a 12v or 240v system, but 100+ litres/hour changed life onboard for the better, more than you imagine (think no decision on rinse after swim). and saved money from marina visits ... to refill water. Food and diesel is easy to plan for a few weeks, water is either stingy use or refill every few days!

      Thanks for taking the time to comment. We really appreciate it. Having now enjoyed a high capacity watermaker and the difference it makes to cruising life, we could not imagine being without it. It looks like we're in agreement about permanently installing the unit to make life even easier. Cheers R & K

    Love the review Rob, thanks
    I’ve always found the whole making water thing daunting, but the Rainman looks simple.

      Thanks for commenting Dave. We really appreciate it. The Rainman's simplicity is its biggest strength I think. Glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers - Rob.

    I mostly installed my portable. The only thing i do is break out the product water line and operate the pressure valve from a convenient location in the cockpit locker. Brine is plumbed overboard. I pumped your way the affairlasted for about 3 months then plumbed 80 percent of it in. It has a dedicated 120v outlet as well.

      Sounds great. It's exactly what we'd like to do but we have to work out where. Unfortunately our cockpit locker is just too short to fit the cylinders. Cheers R & K

    That was a pretty thorough review though I would like to have had a ballpark purchase figure. That said, I think this review was an excellent advertisement for Rainmaker and it's products and services. Good luck for tomorrow.

    Thank-you for such a good review. Your video had solidified my choice for a necked Rainman watermaker on my boat.

    Very interesting thank you. I'm now wondering how it would work on the move if the pick_up was in a live bait tank that had more flow than the watermaker. A good live bait tank has its own filter and plenty of flow. And no plastic bags or seaweed etc.

    • @Dreamtimesail
      @Dreamtimesail  7 місяців тому +1

      I think it would be fine in that situation. In theory I could weight the pickup line so it won't come to the surface and operate the unit underway but it's not something I've found the need to do - yet. Cheers!

    One question please. When you flush, do you need to turn up the pressure also? Thanks in advance.

    • @Dreamtimesail
      @Dreamtimesail  12 днів тому +1

      No! You flush with the pressure down and so flushes all the salt water out of the salt side of the membrane. Cheers!

    I want one for my 4wd expedition vehicle, and also for my boat. So I guess the petrol version is best..... but also as my RV will be 100% electric, solar.....am I better off having a 240v that uses an inverter, and get the high output, so doesn't take that much power to fill a 200 liter tank.....

    • @Dreamtimesail
      @Dreamtimesail  5 місяців тому

      We know people who Rainmans off their invertors but you do need a big battery bank.
