Yay found you today because I got the verstappen anaylsis recommended to me becaus eim intrested in f1. Been binge watchign your videos since then. Can't wait for you to upload more f1 related videos:):).
I feel you should try to find less scripted interviews like you originally did with Max’s. Lewis’s and this one were definitely in a completely different environment than Max’s. Still love the analysis. I feel you’re still hitting out of the park. I just think it would be cool to analyze a post race interview after winning and losing from all of them to see how they communicate in a more “heat of the moment” style interview.
Carlos' personality is one of the most underrated in my opinion. He acts kinda neutral and it fools people, but I think he's genuinely the smartest and funniest guy in the room usually (next to Vettel), kind of like Norm Macdonald was. He's one of those people that the more you see of, the more you know is under the surface.
Nope. I think it's funny that people have started parroting that as if they can read his mind when in fact he's been very outspoken about his determination to come back stronger than ever with the team next year. There's no need to make up a narrative.
@@mondaytosaturday1013 I think its your problem if you didnt see it. In the mid season he was crushed and you could see it. And words dont mean much, actions are the indicator.
You should absolutely check out Carlos and Lando their relationship. They are probably one of the closest friends on the grid! Really funny together too!
Charles is seen as an underdog in my opinion. He is funny and acts clueless and vulnerable which adds a charm and likability to him. Even if he disagrees with something, his charm makes it less aggressive. It’s very interesting to see that he doesn’t need to intimidate the opponent to stand his ground.
you should react to Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo together, they used to be teammates and they have still one of the best bromances in the paddock!
I think the context is crucial here: First, this video is basically an advertisement for their partner, Shell. So, it can't really be compared to an interview. Second, in either case, each team has two drivers, meaning they are at the same time both each other's greatest competitors on the grid, and are supposed to work together for the best of the team. Carlos has proven to be an expert at navigating this kind of tense relationship with his teammates in every team he's been in. Third, Leclerc has been in Ferrari since 2019, but also been in their stables (Ferrari Driver Academy) since 2016 and had a working relationship with the team since then. Sainz has only been related to Ferrari in any capacity since 2021. So yeah, Leclerc is very much the preferred driver, and Sainz also has an uphill battle to assert himself in it.
You’ve really picked up on a couple things quite well: 1. Carlos, more than anyone else on the grid I think, has an incredibly consistent track record of becoming friends with teammates. Most of these guys seem pretty nice but I think Carlos takes the cake in terms of getting along consistently 2. If you see Charles’ Twitch streams from the 2020 season when all the guys are racing virtually, it’s clear he’s comfortable grabbing hold of the spotlight. Kind of dominates the commentary.
4:30 That is ironic. This year Charles has suffered from not questioning and following dubious strategy calls from the clowns at Ferrari strategy, whilst Carlos got his first win thanks to contradicting them.
Carlos may seem to be less assertive than Charles in this video but lately he's been the one to push back much harder against team orders or strategy that he believed were bad and it's usually turned out to be the right call. His much shorter relationship with the team compared to Charles may have something to do with this. Based on this video though I can see why you'd see him that way and he does seem happy to let Charles take the lead when its the two of them. Great video though, I'm loving that you've started looking at drivers interactions with one another and would love to see more. Someone else suggested Max Verstappen with either Daniel Ricciardo or Sergio Perez, to which I can only agree ;)
Charles talks to his team a lot too, it's not really a case where one of them does it noticeably more than the others. People just think so because Carlos' radio gets broadcast more. You can go check out the full driver onboards and you'll realise this.
Don’t be fooled by Carlos’s accent hahah I find his English is pretty good! You can sometimes find Carlos correcting Charles’s English during C^2 challenges. he also uses phrases and speaks as if he’s had an upbringing in an English speaking environment if that makes sense?? But yeah he’s definitely a chill guy.
Would love to see you watch a post race interview with Carlos. I feel like he is far more intense and meticulous when it comes to racing. The difference is really interesting
I think both of them are very interesting. Carlos at first seem tense and serious sometimes goofy but he’s very smart, he quickly learns about his teammates’s character and try to build a respectful relationship w/ them, he know his position in the team and work w/ what he got while being competitive, not sneaky smart but sensible smart. Charles is interesting because he’s very complex. He is likable, considering and good with words but at the same times you can sense his seriousness, a bit unhealthy competitiveness ( I guess that comes from the nature of the sport), vulnerability (even tho he might talk positive you actually sense his disappointment from his body language) and sensitivity too. Charles believe in himself and actually very confident ( I notice lots of the time during grill the grid he’s not good with losing and usually said that the others win by luck this is due to his seriousness and competitiveness, he’s take himself very serious , but also you know he’s not means any disrespect). Charles’s characteristics complexity probably comes from the many things happened in his childhood and teen years but there’s something abt him that I’m very confuse, seems like a straightforward, honest and sometimes a bit childish guy yet he’s very mature and smart with his ways. Humans are complex i guess 😅
Carlos deferring to Charles is plainly because it’s his first two years at Ferrari while Charles has been part of the Ferrari family for a long long time.
I love Carlando, even vintage Daniel and Max. I think Daniel helped Max not to take the sport TOO seriously. You can have fun, but it’s all business on the track
I do believe your first assessment is correct. Of course, Charles has matured throughout the years, but he’s also more established into F1 and his racing team now. In 2019, he had just joined Ferrari and sat next to a 4-time world champion. Now, he’s the number 1 driver in his team and he has established some great results lately which will naturally bring calmness.
I highly recommend you to watch some interviews of Sebastian Vettel & Mick Schumacher. Seb is kinda like a father figure to Mick so i think you'd find their dynamic very interesting.
Great video max! Can you do one for Christian Horner, he seems to be a marmite character within f1 and it would be interesting to see your first impression.
something to keep in mind is these guys have been in the spot light for so long and have years and years of media experience and training. i mean drivers are used as pr machines
It would be interesting to do something look at the drivers relationship with their race engineer. Because Charles is deferential (most of the time) to his where as Carlos is more assertive with his.
i wna say again that i'm SO GRATEFUL that you're looking at f1! hahaha i know i pestered you quite a bit in past videos asking for some and the fact that you've actually looked at max and other drivers too has been incredible and i've enjoyed it! your analysis of charles is spot on - he's not as nice or as easygoing as he seems. of course he's a sweetheart, but he's vicious on track and furiously competitive to match, and quite a lot of people in his fandom call him (and max) little demons 😂 a lot of his toughness and his harsher side probably comes from his many losses of people important to him throughout the years... his godfather, his father, one of his closest friends, from 2014-2019... those have definitely shaped who he is today and made him more tough! thank you again for your analysis and i look forward to more!
I feel like this isnt a very accurate video for them because it's more of an ad for shell. Please do another for them, their relationship is amazing and so fun to watch :)
I suggest Max and Daniel. My favorite F1 pairing, one of the best surprisingly. They literally match their energies in all of their videos. What a duo.
i see you're venturing into the bromances HAHAHA do check out carlos and lando (carlando) or max and daniel (maxiel) they're two of the most popular driver pairings, tho both aren't paired together anymore :c max is a lot more different in marketing videos compared to regular interviews, in the red bull marketing videos he acts very much his age
I am obsessed with F1 and absolutely enjoying your F1 videos so far. It would be interesting to do one of Max, Lewis, and Charles on their reaction after Max just won his 2nd world Champion in Japan (Oct 2022)
Great content! I love your insights on them. I think indeed all F1 drivers are at least partially trained in media responses, and they're all pretty straight forward, they have to be as professional athletes at this level! I would love to see your responses to the David Coulthard interview with Max.
I followed both guys the last 6 years and they are both cool guys. Carlos is a little older than Charles and he had a very close friendship with his former teammate Lando Norris.(Check that bromance out!) Lando is one of Charles' best friends. And now Charles and Carlos are in the same team and get along great as well. Yes, Charels has become more confident, although he's still struggling at Ferrari. LJ
I think it will be interesting if you check out the interactions between carlos sainz and his ex-teammates as well. he's been having numerous teammates in the past as he's been changing teams as well. He's usually the older one between the two teammates and had only been the younger one once with Nico Hulkenberg, and same age teammates with Daniil Kvyat (they had known each other since teenage years though), and it's just from my POV but I felt like the dynamic was really different, but still idk if its age related. From what I've seen he got along really well with every teammates, and also probably one of the friendliest drivers out there. One thing about Carlos that left me questioning stuffs about him is the fact that sometimes he is just... too calm? Idk how to explain it... Anyway thank you for your reaction and analysis :D
I'm gonna echo what some others have said and suggest an analysis of Lando Norris, he's probably the most outgoing person on the grid. He can be serious when he needs to, but he's definitely known for being a bit goofy, self deprecating and not taking himself too seriously.
Don't underestimate Carlos, he is ruthless, which can be seen during the last couple of races. Watch him racing and in press interviews. Charles is an awesome, direct, likeable and passionate but Ferrari are destroying him and his F1 career especially during the last couple of races.
You should definitely check out Max Verstappen and Sergio “Checo” Pérez (his teammate) in their Agree to Disagree video!! They have a really good friendship and they are the winners on this year Constructors Championship (team championship)!! and you can see Max being a little more open and expressive when he’s comfortable and around people he trust.

I really like your videos! It's super interesting to watch these interviews with a different perspective. I'm also wondering if you take people's culture into consideration during this kind of analysis?
I think part of the strong "no"s in the video was because those questions were mostly about Shell. All the Ferrari drivers (recent and before) seem to go almost in a scripted mode naturally when asked about Shell. Those facts and advertisements are drilled well into them. Carlos is probably the least scripted sounding of them I have seen, so that heightens the Charles' communication way.
You should definitely check out Yuki Tsunoda and Pierre Gasly they're known to have the best friendship/bromance on the paddock :D I think you will especially like Yuki's blunt personality xd
Hello Max, I have for you good video which you can react on. The formula 1 driver name is Lando Norris and he is calling a few of formula 1 racing drivers, that video is like 14 minutes long, you can checkout, btw as always, great video, I already saw all races this year, really good job from your side
I think that as this was basically a shell marketing video it was possibly not the most typical interaction and was somewhat choreographed. Their Ferrari challenges seem more natural. Interesting that you think Charles is more assertive and Carlos more deferential. It is Carlos that is the most assertive with the engineers on the pit wall during races. He is not afraid to call them out on their awful strategy calls and even refuse to follow their calls to box if he doesn't think they are right, whereas Charles is much more uncertain and hesitates to challenge them.
I'd disagree on the last bit. Charles does and has challenged his team on calls. It just doesn't get broadcast as often. You should check their full driver onboards. I believe there's a compilation floating around on Tumblr as well where someone listed all the communication both drivers have had this season and they were on par.
Love the video! Could you also react to interactions of Max Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez? They had an interview with LadBible recently (agree or disagree): ua-cam.com/video/gukdTwfTDOU/v-deo.html
I watched that video in the past and all the Shell related questions seemed like paid content. The responses seemed loosely scripted, probably truthful in Shell's role but also a clear message they are more than an oil company. I just get some greenwashing vibes without saying they are green.

Charles was getting more confident, but this year Ferrari crushed his confidence and you could see it.

Lando and Carlos seems to get along with everybody, Lando and Danny are so funny together too.
Carlos is the whole package, funny, conficence, calm, has the talk, hot, smart, easygoing.

He should react to Max partying on his private jet with Daniel then coming home drunk. Its a great laugh

He's on the list... May check him out next
Carlos was new to the team while Charles had been there for 3 years. I think that shows why there's a difference a little bit

Please do a sebastian vettel and charles video they're relationship is so interesting!!
you should do a reaction to the rookie of the year 2019 video. Then you can see three drivers at once!
We need your reaction on Kimi Räikkönen!
I really like your videos! It's super interesting to watch these interviews with a different perspective. I'm also wondering if you take people's culture into consideration during this kind of analysis?
Are you missing that this is sponsored content from Shell? The "no" from Charles to the Shell question was part of a script.
hi, do you think you can do an analysis of carlos and lando ????
the first video is definitely a shell ad so I don't think "charles' disagreeable personality" can be assessed here as it is all scripted
you should check charles in challenge
They have better interaction videos than this advertising game 🤣
