If you’re someone who has spent some time chatting with Open AI’s Chat GPT or Microsoft’s co-pilot, then you know how frustrating the experience can sometimes be… waiting for an image to be rendered and then downloading it… saving it… and send it over to someone on WhatsApp.
Well - WhatsApp’s parent Meta has now rolled out Meta AI as a simple chat service within the WhatsApp user interface. If you tap open WhatsApp and look on the top right - a new blue, violet, pink shaded circle has emerged. Just tap on it and viola - you get right into the heart of this AI chatbot powered by Llama 3.
The bot pretty much challenges you - “Ask Meta AI Anything” it says. There are some conversation-starter prompts too… as well as a regular WhatsApp chat box that lets you go tapping away.
The AI tool can dish out a super-quick response to a text query like: What happened in Parliament Today?
It gives you clear bullet pointers and some excerpts from websites of national dailies. From adjournment of the house to the rancor over NEET - it has it all. Now I never gave the chatbot an indication of which parliament I was referring to. It perhaps applied logic that I was using an India number on WhatsApp and my location was in India too, so the response was based on action in the Indian parliament.
The beauty is - now you can easily forward it to any WhatsApp contact or group immediately.
I then tried something generic - “How to get more views on UA-cam” - and it dished out as 12-point agenda for me - from optimization to keywords to use of subtitles and more.
Ditto with image generation.
Ask the chatbot to crate an image of a man recording an explainer video against a green screen - and there you have it.
Get creative and write: create an image of a grey cat wearing sunglasses and playing a guitar - and you have a rockstar of a cat popping up.
Rightly so, the images have a watermark on the bottom left that reads - Imagined with AI - to ensure these are not mistaken to be original artist creations.
A significant difference between Open Ai’s ChatGPT integrating DALL-E as well as Microsoft’s Co-Pilot in image generation is the speed with which Meta’s Lama 3 produced visual content.
It is literally a flash of a second before what you imagined comes to life on your smartphone.
