I watched this in California using my 12 ft. satellite dish at the time that would pick up feeds from around the globe. It was the most incredible hockey moment I have ever seen.
I was in a bar in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, the only Sabres fan in a group of Bostonians from my ship. It was one of the best, most memorable moments of my life.
I was at this game, in the oranges right above Andy Moog when May scored. In the concourse afterward, Sabretooth was high-fiving fans and I think I scared him a bit with my "enthusiastic" greeting. My favorite sports memory, without a doubt. I didn't hear the "May Day" call until I was in the car on the way home and they played it on the radio over and over again. So special.
Patty LaLa passing from his keister then May schooling a Hall of Famer and stretching Moog out to win it in overtime to complete the sweep and move on to the second round for the 1st time in forever with the dawning of the dominator at the other end is the most legendary goal in Sabres history and RJ embodied the emotions of every Sabres fan. Beautiful
My favorite Rick Jeanneret call. And I didn't hear it until I saw it replayed on the news that night. Because I was at the game. Sitting just a few rows up at the blue line, just above where Brad May entered the Bruins zone. I can still see the goal from that view in my mind. I Laughed Out Loud that first time I heard the call, and it still brings a smile every time. Though today it's a smile tinged with sadness. RIP RJ.
That is pretty awesome that you were there. I've been to a couple big games in Sabres history (Game 6 in '99 and Malarchuk's accident) but yours tops those easily.
This was my first series win. And listening to Rick that day...made sure my blood was forever blue gold and white for the rest of my life. Let's go Buffalo!
Was at the game as a kid with my dad who eventually passed away from cancer.jumping up and down in the orange section.people were allowed to bring in brooms.the team doesn't care about winning anymore but no one can take away that memory
This was on my dad’s 30th birthday. He’s a huge bruins fan. So last night I asked him if he remembered. His response? “Sprint 1993 was a sleepless blur for me & your mother” I may have left out the part where they had just had me less than a month beforehand 😂
I love the video. But at no point do u actually have the call other than briefly at the start. Maybe find 5-10 seconds to hear “the call” that we are discussing straight.
So sad to hear the news of Rick’s passing.
I loved listening to him call a game.
Condolences to his family and Sabres fans everywhere.
The night I became a Sabres fan at 5 years old, I will never forget this moment for the rest of my life
RIP to the greatest play by play man in the history of televised sports.
Nobody ever talks about the awesome pass that Pat LaFontaine dished to May that started it all. Without that sweet pass, that goal doesn't happen.
May always says it tho at least. He knows.
They talked about it in the video.
Gives you chills that Brad May kissed his stick for luck. And he was pretty easy on the eyes.
Rest in peace Legend. Gone, but never forgotten.

More like that you've been ordained.

I have chills watching this and I'm not even a Sabres fan!
MAY DAY!!! The best call who make the fame of Rick Jeanneret!
Tonight is RJ night. You will be forever beloved in Buffalo, Rick. Go Sabres!
RIP RJ. 😢
The sheer happiness in May's face when telling the details...
As a Kings fan i offer Sabers fans my condolences.. Rest in peace Rick..
I'm reallt gonna miss Rick Jhe was a big part of my youth growing up.
God Bless You RJ, Best Announcer Ever!

It was (almost) too bad I was at that game.
I didn’t hear RJ’s call when May scored.
Thank You all for this clip.
The ghost of the Aud still vibrates from the May Day goal.
Donald Audette, or? ;)
Rip Rick Jeanneret 😢 💔 🙏
LETS GO BUFFALO
goosebumps every time i watch this....best call of all time coming from a rangers fan
Was at the game as a kid with my dad who eventually passed away from cancer.jumping up and down in the orange section.people were allowed to bring in brooms.the team doesn't care about winning anymore but no one can take away that memory
Goosebumps
RIP Rick Jeanneret 🙏🏽
gives me shivers..I will die with this! AMAZING
Who's here after Rick Jeanneret passed away 😔
everyone after today…. it’s horrible
MAY DAY !!!!!!
thats was amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We all wish our announcers could have as much passion for a playoff overtime win
RJ had passion with every single Sabres’ goal
1:00 the breakout pass was actually NOT Doug Bodger to Pat LaFontaine, the breakout pass was Keith Carney to Pat LaFontaine. Sorry, Brad lol
rip rick you will be missed by all

This was my all time favourite goal for decades... until Paul Byron's shorty against the Leafs in May 2021 (Go Habs)
Rip 🙏
May Day is good, but Brett Hull’s “no goal” is the best that RJ ever did, ‘cause it’s a once in a lifetime event doing a Stanley Cup Finals call.
people remember the goal but the pass from lafontaine was amazing.
Rest in peace to the goat
RJ deserved a Cup!
A lot of teams have championships, only one had Rick Jeanneret.
👏💙💛
‘Mayday’ to most people means a potential disaster.
‘May Day’ to Sabres fans means overtime glory!
Did you plan on bringing back royal blue or what?
Next season I believe
The bigger question is....did his face turn red?
Just found out Rick has died. Very sad.
Too bad Gurtler called the game on TV and no one I've ever spoken to heard that call because RJ was on radio
Is Gurtler the one before RJ?
@@dannythomas417 Yes sir
@@moshpool RJ is all I know. Dunleavy makes me sadder.
It is the biggest and most memorable only because the Sabres have yet to win a cup.....😑 Getting kind of tired of failure.
