Philippine folk dance: Waray Waray

- Waray is the fifth-most-spoken native regional language of the Philippines, native to Eastern Visayas. It is the native language of the Waray people and second language of the Abaknon people of Capul, Northern Samar and some Cebuano-speaking peoples of eastern and southern parts of Leyte island. It is the third most spoken language among the Visayan languages, only behind Hiligaynon and Cebuano. The language name comes from the word often heard by non-speakers, "waray" (meaning "none" or "nothing" in Waray); similarly, Cebuanos are known in Leyte as "mga Kana" and their language as "Kana" (after the oft-heard word "kana", meaning "that" in the Cebuano language).
We danced this folk dance 2019, and I'm so proud na nasayaw ko to grade 8 ako. Wow grabe 😭
Iba talaga bumanat Ang mga waray...kaupay hit mga galaw diin dawla ini dapit...mabuhay kita mga waray.
We chose this in our folk dance and we got first place!!
We're doing this for a contest too!
Hope we win aswell 😩
This is the OG song and is actually celebratory of the Waray people, unlike the derogatory Tagalog version. Sadly, the Tagalog version is the one that mostly comes up when Waray-Waray is being searched anywhere.
i cant believe were dancing this for our exam
We’re dancing this today wish me luck coz yesterday it so embarrassed in the stage for our rehearsal
Edited: HAHAHAHA it’s been 2years and I forgot I commented this lol. Anyway we did it :))😍
Yeah, I understand. It looks so humiliating. We're in 2021 and look at these people. They dance bare foot on concrete floor. I looks so primitive and unsophisticated. I wish Filipinos will upgrade their culture and adapt it to the 21st century.
Your step are very good and I love it. We are dancing in school. I think it is a kind of hard
Omg sinayaw namin to nong 2008 elementary days😊😊😊

Sino po ba kumanta nit
Waray waray is not a folk dance. :) though it's fun to dance to the music. Some of the real folk dances from the provinces of Samar and Leyte are Tinikling, Kuracha, Pisi-pisi, Gaway-gaway, Itik-itik and many more. This is an example of a somewhat modernized dance. I was confused before as well since dances, together with music and language evolve, but with an open mind it's also healthy for our culture and identity to be reminded of a few things. And btw, this choreography is fun ❤❤💓
There is what we called unpublished folk dances, meaning any dance from a community that do exist but were not pubkished in the book of F.R.A. Juan Miel and many more. If researchers will give time to study this dance and gather enough evidences then eventually it can be considered one. The PFDS is the sole organization whom we can connect when it comes to unpublished folk dances of course supported by documents.

Folk Song ❤
If this dance is popularly danced in that certain place, and the community used to perform this so this can be called folk dance but is not yet published. May i know where this dance originated?
