What do you think of the new dining offering?

I like. In my view, it's modeled very much like Celebrity whom I took for the first time earlier this year. While not the perceived stature of Cunard, it was superior in its on board amenities, food quality and options. The cabins on Celebrity were not as nice when compared to price points at Britannia level. But everything else was by far superior: food quality, service, fitness center, casino, spa, outdoor venues, outdoor dining. Queen Anne narrows and perhaps eliminates the gap....with Celebrity.

The Princess and the Queen's Grills look a little ordinary. Those chairs look like they may have been recycled from the QE2.

Curious how table cloths seem to be deemed inappropriate in specialty dining venues.

I noticed this too. I accept that in some restaurants, such as the Japanese restaurant, it suits the style. But to eliminate them in all speciality restaurants… not a fan. Looks cheap. And the chairs… I sometimes wonder where they get these interior designers from.

Themed restaurants have no tablecloths. Pity

The seats, the tables, the decor, all of it in all those dining facilities looks tacky and cheap because that is what it is. I'm a Northern Californian. When we want inexpensive entertainment and want to be amused by tacky settings we go to the CHEAP ( figurative and literally ) casinos in Reno Nevada. That is exactly what all that looks like. I was about to book two Princess Grille Suites for the Southhampton to Southampton itinerary. One for me, one for mother but as I do not want to endure her complaining that I took her to a bordello, I've made other arrangements. It has gotten beyond annoying that the people who fried their brains on Molly and Ayahuasca think they know better than every generation before them. Cunard has an obligation to preserve what is good about the last gasps of The Edwardian Age. But they took the path of yet another Sell-Out.

I agree!! What is so wrong with decorating with oil paintings, and antiques along side dark wood much like the early Ritz-Carlton hotels?

Totally agree. It's a tasteless uninspired copy paste contemporary nightmare in grey.

I wasn’t impressed at all with the images that Cunard released of the Britannia restaurant, but it looks absolutely stunning in the flesh.
Thanks for sharing this one, Chris!

No Tablecloths for the Extra Cost Specialty Restaurants?? Really Cunard??? And compared to the elegance and beauty of the Veranda on QV and QE , the Sir Samuel’s looks like a cafeteria in a high school. Tacky and cheap looking tables and chairs!!! When I sail on Queen Anne for her Transatlantic Maiden Voyage in January 2025 I will be sticking to the Britannia restaurant for every meal!! I’m not paying extra money for that disappointed look!!!

Cunard has a higher dress code for dinner than most other cruise lines, table cloths match and look great,
      all dressed up.

I am quite underwhelmed by the decor in the grills restaurants. In fact I find the Queen's Grill quite ugly. They could and should have done much better here. It is quite a turn off from splurging on queen's grill.

Good to see that upper part of Brittania given over to flexible dining. Last year on QM2 we tried flexible for the first time and it was a very hit and miss affair esp as i dietary issues.
Looking forward to our Baltic cruise on Queen Anne.

I really dislike the interior design of both much of the ship and the restaurants. So much so in fact that I am going to cancel my booked cruise from Auckland to Sydney. If I ate in the Mediterranean restaurant I would be positively ill from all the yellow.
None of the class we would expect from Cunard what a shame!

Your audio is very muffled and hard to hear what you’re saying.
Several seats in the Grills restaurants face away from the window views and that’s a bummer. I saw some other QG seats as banquets where one bank of diners will be facing a wall.
I too wonder why the extra charge restaurants (especially Sir Samuel’s) omit tablecloths. A steakhouse should have a white tablecloth. These speciality restaurants look like something out of Virgin Voyages.
With QA, Cunard is looking towards the next generation of cruisers and that’s good…I think?

I watched a different video on UA-cam about the QA Maiden Voyage Gala Dinner in the Brittania Restaurant. They showed the menu and it had no appetizers, just soup, salad, main and dessert choices. Have they dropped appetizers in the Brittania Restaurant? If so, what a shame.

Thanks for the video, Chris. I can see why Cunard traditionalists may recoil at the new look, but personally I like the fresh and innovative designs. (Table cloths in Sir Samuels would've been nice, though.) The impression of quality is still there, just very different. I am personally more interested in the quality of food and service, so let's see how other new reviews on this aspect go. What's interesting is that the Queen's grill table configurations seems to have changed from a few days ago as seen in earlier videos, which shows they are still tinkering with layouts, I think. Looking forward to my time on QA, though its a while away..

Oh dear oh dear, Cunard tried too hard here, and missed the boat, or should I say ship!! The obvious energy skill and ingenuity that has been lavished on designing these interiors is evident, and cannot be denied, but they have lost sight of the fact that this a holiday destination, and as such, should be welcoming and upbeat, and it doesn’t look like that to me! A good deal of the interiors would do very well as Chapels of Rest, or Funeral Parlours! Dreary, melancholy, sombre, and uninviting springs to mind, and the main dinning room is quite something else, glacial would be appropriate! Is that where I would like to take my meals? No!!!👎👎👎👎

I agree. Regent Splendour is modern but in a classy, luxurious way. Yes, that ship is in a totally different price bracket but I’m referring to the style. In my opinion, this is just tacky.

    • @randall8379
      @randall8379 4 місяці тому

@@RichardLewis1066 I believe Regent's style is elegant and simple. But I don't like their open dining policy. For me having the same dinner companions at the same time every day is a big plus, especially for the single traveller. I never much liked Cunard's faux Deco style but the line is the most traditional around and offers the only regular trans-Atlantic service.

The speciality restaurants on Queen Anne are so much better designed and inviting than their equivalent pop-ups on QM2/QV/QE which have invariably proved disappointing for us in both atmosphere and service. I think that this is where Queen Anne will excel with its permanent restaurant options as against the other Cunard ships. The Grills restaurants look fine to me - I'd be happy to dine there. I like traditional but I also like modern.
