Looks like a handy tool. I’d flip it and use the vice to hold the short and long ends while twisting the loop.

I did that, but my little desk vice was having an issue holding tight enough. I read somewhere that the loose ends are required to be in the pliers or the wire can break as well.

@@WhatsUpWithSix I actually use a dowel in the loop and twist, but like they say there is more than one way to skin a cat...

I met a man back in the 80’s that used those extendedly. He almost died from infection from being stuck with tie wires many times.
He was a B29 mechanic on the Marianna’s island chain and was so sick they thought he might die. The pilot of his airplane begs the doctors to use penicillin but the drug was reserved for air crews and not flight line personnel. The pilot and copilot signed a letter saying the would forfeit their rights to use penicillin if they would save their mechanic.
They saved the mans life. In return the mans first two sons were named after the pilot and copilot. I think of that story every time I see a pair of those pliers.

I know you've used these before as David and I did while working for the army. These were a staple in our toolbox as we were required to safety tie all types of assemblies. I've never considered having a pair for the shack though. Great idea and great video!

Yup we used them to secure nuts that had to be torqued to a specific setting.

I sure like it. There are lots of ways to do it, but thing that I have found that is so uniform in it's output and i like that

Wow, that is pretty handy the last time I twisted wire like that I had to use a pair of pliers on one end and chuck the other end into a drill and slowly twisted it and keep it straight while I did so. That looks a lot easier. Also good to see you're back in good health again.

Good to hear from you ol friend. My health is improving. Just had knee surgery and getting ready for another on the same leg. Broke my tibia and torn meniscus from a fall in late June 2022. Seems like it's always something LOL

I suppose they would be OK for bifilar/trifilar windings for BalUns etc? My first visit to your channel and thank you for the review mate.
