Lovell is discussing the very real need to address the enemies of this country from the perspective of a soldier. This country needs hard men who can do difficult tasks under adverse conditions. As a veteran of the Vietnam conflict we started to see the reality on the ground,that we were not there to defend the United States or to help the Vietnamese people.Reality and "woke" aren't anything alike but the right and wrong of the situation when it becomes so obvious is absolutely something that affects moral...

We were not told at the time why we were there. But after 50 years the scope of that conflict becomes illustrated. However, I am proud of my service. In my little world the most important thing was the welfare of my brothers and sisters. It still is. As the son of a WW2 veteran I am proud of him. We don't blame the individual soldiers but instead the politicians who led us there.
This is why John's words are anemic, he says "why would a shoulder fight for a country that is evil?" Like some hypothetical question. As though it wasn't true in his day and before. The old America died long ago, the thing that replaced it deserves no loyalty.

20 years US Navy and one of the reasons I retired was constantly being told I needed "sensitivity training" because I disciplined everyone equally within my command. This was 13 years ago and it's only gotten worse since then. Yes, treating everyone the same makes you an "ist/phobe" because you have to give all of the "protected classes" special treatment and leeway when it comes to enforcing the rules ... but go ahead and treat the straight, white men as bad as you want because "reasons".
In my opinion one of the watershed moments for this was changing the PRT standards for women ... because they couldn't meet the same standards set for the men. So women could get higher marks with less effort which gave them an advantage when it came to advancement. I participated in a qualification drill for the base Fire Department and one young lady (5'1" and about 110lbs) passed even though she didn't actually complete the drill which was carrying an unconscious victim (me 5'9" 190lbs) to safety (add in approx 45 lbs each for FFE) ... she dropped me down a flight of stairs resulting in a six inch gash on my shin, oopsy. Now of course I have to add the obligatory "Not All" since there were two other women who passed with flying colors (one of whom set a new speed record) but that still begs the question ... who's going to take responsibility when she fails to meet the standards in an actual fire and kills someone?

@@yucol5661 When you're in an emergency situation everyone has to pull their own weight. On a typical "hose team" you'll have a nozzle-man who controls the nozzle, two hose men (one with a thermal imaging camera) and a "plug man" who controls the valve.
But more important is that every qualified person has to be able to switch out for any job. If the nozzle-man get's overheated or runs low on air then you rotate out. Additionally, saving people trapped in the fire is priority number one so if any member of the team can't pull their own weight (no pun intended) then you're basically one person short. This isn't like an office job where being short-handed is annoying, it's people's lives in the balance. When I was dropped I was conscious and wearing protective gear ... but an actual unconscious victim could easily have died from smoke inhalation during her struggle to get me to the stairs or broken their neck falling down them.
This is NOT the time and place for "diversity" it's a meritocracy pure and simple. As the old military saying goes ... Lead, Follow or get the hell out of the way!
@@yucol5661 I don't think anyone benefits from one more person when that person fails the job and then becomes another victim that needs to be rescued. Any emergency crew knows that the unqualified or unfit member of the team is a liability. Lowering standards invites ineptitude.
Even outside emergency crews... professional sports teams don't lower standards to get more candidates - they keep the bar high so the team is successful and isn't hindered by an unqualified player.

100%!! As a Veteran I enlisted in 1981...and again in 1993. In the time I was out, as a civilian....the military changed RADICALLY. When I got out in 1999, I saw the damage...Its a LOT worse now!!! I would NOT sign up today, knowing the direction our military has and is, going!!

Some children were forced to go to segregated schools simply for being of a different race or having a physical disability. One can support one's state and federal constitution while demanding that institutional discrimination, which is evil, be abolished.

This is absolutely true. I am active duty Air Force (21 years). The Air Force is full throated woke and it is incredibly divisive and demoralizing for those that believe in the moral standards that have held America and the military together forever. The military relies on a moral code of ethics to enforce good order and discipline so that it remains effective and cohesive to accomplish the mission. When you break that structure, it comes apart from within. It’s happening day by day.

Trouble is, the current administration seems to be hell bound on destroying the country, given what has transpired since January. This "wokeism" as everybody puts it is nothing new. It was going on back in the '80's when I served. I sat through a briefing at Warren AFB where some staff from the Social Actions team went around the room and asked what each of us thought when we saw the Confederate flag. That was June of 1980. I'm relatively sure I wouldn't last 10 minutes in the current military. Now that that's all out of the way, if you're a history buff, check out F.E. Warren AFB. All I'll say is, it wasn't always an Air Force base.

I have worked for the local government in the criminal justice for the last 11 years and that's about to end. I've had enough of the mess state legislators have made of our profession with policies that do not allow us to do our jobs incarcerating repeat offenders simply because their offenses are low-level felonies.
In my state, we have all but lost the ability to incarcerate people who continue to amass new criminal charges that are in the low-level felony category. And by that, I mean that we have people getting indicted on four and five new felony cases a year and we can't imprison them.
They don't want treatment, and we can't make them, so they just continue doing what they're doing.
And don't even get me started on the topic of bail reform.
It's nonsense like this that is why I'd never serve. It has nothing to do with Trump vs. Biden.
Grateful to him for speaking up. Hope more to follow.
Currently our state's thinking is indeed done by cowards, and I hope our brave recognize and resist it so that we don't have fools in its midst.
