Groups like AP made the call because there aren't enough remaining ballots left for Trump to possibly take a lead on at that point, even if all remaining ballots were voting for him. They cut him off before he could explain it. "Most likely to win" might not be the best term to use, though.

I'm sorry, but I don't remember any rioting for days after the election in 2016. Trump wasn't my choice for President in 2016 or even 2020. I lived with the results of that election in 2016, just like I will live with results of this election. I would blame the counting of ballots days later on the slowing of the mail and covid. Either we count the ballots or not count the ballots.
