Good review, but please make a note that the RAM is soldered an not „two sticks“ like mentioned at 3:32 . Important information I think! Also RAM speed is 7467MHZ with being soldered, not as written 5600MHZ.
Thanks. HWinfo was reporting the speed at 2793 Mhz which made me think it was 5600 Mhz. CPU-z reports 3392 Mhz which is more likely to be correct. Indeed, it is soldered. My mistake, I was in automatic mode. Thanks for pointing out my error
The reason I was skeptical of buying the ideapad pro 5 was the hinge. I've heard horror stories of the screen falling off the hinge which isn't ideal for a laptop that I was spending 1000+ USD for. I think the hinge of the yoga pro 9i, which is the model up from this, is much better. However, that laptop is much more expensive compared to this one.
I have the yoga pro 9i in house to review. Nice machine and definitely a step up on build quality. Disappointed that it's not a true yoga in the sense you cannot fold the screen back on itself to use as a tablet. I've has two long term Lenovo, one was the yoga 720 I think it was called and the Legion 7. Both had good hinges.
@@OWNORDISOWNhow it is working now, i am looking to buy an IdeaPad, I am also concerned about its hinge, more than him. Should I buy or go for other laptop? Please respond to this @admin and @CPA003 @whoever used the IdeaPad Slim and Pro versions.
@@ShrivathsanCS the built quality is awesome, at par with a macbook air, i am absolutely satisfied with the laptop and trackpad is large and good, but yes the hinges sometimes i feel it wobbles a bit much, but not much of a concern for me cause i mostly use it elevated on a stand on my desk with kb&m. but the screen is ❤. that makes your external monitor look like sh😂t.
Hi, Greate review man! Lenovo offers the Ideapad Pro 5 16inch,16gb ram, RTX 4050 6gb, 512 gb ssd, AMD 8845hs, Glossy non-touch OLED 1200p for 930 USD My only concern is the speakers on this. I could also get the Yoga Pro 9i 16inch, 32 gb ram, RTX 4060 8gb, 1 tb ssd, Intel 185h, Glossy mini-Led touch for 1700 USD Any recomendations?
Nowadays, most laptops come with a soldered ram and that means no ability for repair or upgrade. This should be taken into consideration. You pay a lot of money for something, in case needed, cannot be repaired. Most reviewers fail (?) to mention that.
I will rather go for the ryzen model. The ryzen model is easily on par with the intel, it is cheaper and has more configurations. I don't think in real life use, the intel will be that much faster. I don't care much about thunderbolt 4 so I will rather save the extra $100😁😁😁
I really hate the new AI chips lineup also they manage to make Core Ultra worse then their predecessor Cpu's still prefer 14900Hx over this weak ai cpu thing. I hope Arrow Lake make a better comeback i wish they didn't disabled hyperthreading but i hope it worth the wait. Otherwise if Snapdragon makes a improvement and manage to adapt x86 within 1 or 2 years I might look for a laptop with snapdragon cpu and Nvidia Gpu if it exists eventually.
@@OWNORDISOWN Honestly I am more into mobile performance rather than battery life if I could just have desktop system I am up for it but nowadays I just can't have it that way simply because I have to attend places that requires me to bring my machine honestly I don't mind carrying 18 inch device with me i got used to carry things heavier than that as long as I got the performance I need. @@OWNORDISOWNWell, oem's don't pair a ryzen 7/9 hs cpu with a full power 4080/90 for good perf and battery life, why would they for snapdragon? People have to actually create a backlash to force oem's to make sensible configurations.
Great review stephen. My god, these cpu names. I give up. Finally! Nice to see oled options. That too glossy! Do you think these core ultra chips run cooler than ryzen like its been the case so far? But this laptop isn't worth it at $1500. Max, $1000. Ideally should be $800. And a 6gb gpu is unacceptable for such a device. Should've had a 4060 minimum
Yeah, it's way too expensive as is the case with many laptops these days... The 185H certainly seems to run quite cool - only needing two heatpipies and two heatsinks. Would be interesting to see it paired with a 175w 4080...

What about the oled burn in on this laptop(or any oled laptop)? Is it still a major concern now?

did you notice any color fringing issues as the monitor being oled?
Would you go for the AMD or Intel model? Remember to check out Tenorshare 4DDiG Video Repair Software: bit.ly/4bZdpRJ
