Julian was my first town zero.. Spoiled myself and stayed at the Julian Hotel 👍 My free Mom's Pie was Rubarb/Cherry with Vanilla Ice cream and coffee 😀
My sister in law's co-worker's daughter is currently doing the PCT and she shared a video of your journey last week and I've gone back to start from Day 1 and I'm loving it- I feel like I'm actually hiking! This is so amazing. I started hiking about 5 years ago - so late in life and the most I ever hiked is 10miles in one day - I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT and wish I could do what you are doing. I'll enjoy this journey thru your journey. THANK YOU and keep on trailing! Be Safe
Ever think of hiking with and umbrella? You can use it while you walk and something to get under to get some shade when you stop for breaks where there are no plants/trees for shade. Starting your hikes early in the mornings a little before the sun comes up might give you a little head start on the sun too. Wishing you the best as you hike on Starburst!!
I vote for an umbrella! I don't think I would have survived the Southern California part of the PCT without mine. Love your videos. Great trail name too.
Just don't become a sour Starburst....I'm enjoying the theme in your videos of free beer....every time there is beer in your video I will have one too and vicariously imagine it being free.
Last video was great. Feel like part of your journey and look forward to hearing about your day. You are really enjoying life and enjoy every second of this adventure. Take care of yourself.
Glad it got overcast to allow you to walk in slightly cooler weather. Great footage of all the plants and cacti. Keep up the good work and happy walking
Starburst! Great name. Let me suggest changing out the darker color cloths (save them for the Sierra's) to a white (or bright) top and an airy white hat, they'll go with your trail name. Best! Cheers!
I bet the shower and bed for the night were the best things and sensible to take a day off to rest up. Julian looked a great place and real hiker friendly as well. Starburst, nice name, there seems to be a real sense of camaraderie on the hike, real good to see. The Trail Angels are amazing, what a real cool bunch of people, real good to see people like that about, cheers Alan
You definitely have a Starburst personality!!! Absolutely enjoy your videos. I live in Phoenix so I understand your love for the desert (even the brown) and it never gets old for me either. I am not sure if the bird you filmed was a condor but it reminded me of my hike into the Grand Canyon 2 days ago where I saw one :) Thanks for taking us along !!!
I'm basically marathoning these videos. Your journey is so cool and inspirational. The snake you saw is a rosy boa; they're the slowest species of snake in the world. :) Not sick, just not in any sort of hurry.
Hey Starburst! There's lots of trail left so work yourself INTO it, instead of OUT of it. You are my PCT wannabe..... I wannabe on the trail too, but can't so I will live it thru you! Love your attitude and beautiful smile. You're a sweetheart!
I Love your videos! Perfect blend of scenery, view of the human side of trail life, and excellent descriptions of what's happening to you personally, that is your inner journey. All this really makes a person feel as though they are there hiking along. Thanks so much for taking the time to do all this. Way to go, Starburst! Great trail name. (Btw, Sorry about your original hat.)
You name is very fitting. I been following quite a few people up the trail. They are getting up early and hiking. Then in the hottest part of the day taking 2-3 breaks in the shade. Most of them are just a head of you by about a week. Stay safe Sunburst😂
is that a rosy boa??? not sure im right but they are slow and friendly. havent seen one since early teens. anyway keep trekking. just left big bear today and saw a few hikers i town. pretty hot up there....edit....awesome on the trail name...its official
Most people kidneys can only process a quart per hour, so if you drink lots (a gallon) of water at one time not all of it can be processed as well as it could be if your were drinking over a few hours.
Love seeing ya’ll are enjoying our desert! Those stumpy cacti with the flowers are ‘Barrel cactus’ The tall branchy ones with the orangey red flowers are ‘Octatillo’. The shorter branchy ones with the long white thorns are ‘Cholla’ and they’ll jump at ya! Hope you have some electrolytes for the salt loss in the heat. Carry on...
Love how you are enjoying even the hard parts. I agree with the umbrella idea, also with using a lighter weight light colored hat and lighter color clothes. You might find it worthwhile to wet your buff/bandanna and wear it around your neck or even under your hat. When feeling overheated the first thing is to take off the hat and let the heat out for a few minutes, remember the first thing to put on when your cold is a hat, the reverse is true! LOL
Nice trail name Starburst! You are doing great! The pie looked delicious, maybe because I’m on a diet and don’t eat that stuff right now. I need to hike more and diet less.
The tree you referred to is an Ocotillo. It only has small leaves and the orange flowers in the spring. The rest of the year it looks like dead sticks and tries to save water during the hot dry months.
Oh my gosh how scary!! I literally felt your pain! Dehydration is no joke and glad you're ok & safe! Strong girl! And I love STARBURST! Definitely suits you! Hope you enjoy warner springs ☺️
Starburst..... heat problems?! You may need some SALT or electrolytes. You need to replace ther salts you sweat out while you hike. Love your trail name and your videos. Terrific job. Best wishes.... Ax
5:55 that plant is called Ocotillo - the little red blossoms make a delicious tea if you steep them in hot water then let it cool. extra nice for hikers because it can act as an anti-inflammatory
I guess you will figure it out as you go, but start early, even do the first hour in the dark & then find somewhere shady to rest during the day, use your tent for some shade if you need to & do another stint in the afternoon
Neutrogena face and body SPF70 sticks are the best! They last forever and do not feel greasy. Might work better for you than the travel lotion and sprays
Lordbless you 💘...welcome miss Starburst...im Cityboy... 💘...you are greatful that is Godly..i am so greatful to God everyday forever...always be happy in your ❤ heatt..God is love
I know it’s been years, & someone may have already mentioned it; but those broom-like “trees” with orangish-red flowers (and small little green leaves hugging the branches) are ocotillo (pronounced “ah-co-tea-yo”).
I know others have said it but "Electrolytes" Get some Gatorade or other electrolyte powder and have at least one liter every 3 to 4 liters of water. North TX Kayaker said it also... Get an umbrella. Keep the good attitude!! 👍👍
Dan is from BC? Likely the lower mainland as we call it or Vancouver area...Im from Victoria, on the island. I know you are from Seattle so you have good knowledge of what coastal BC is like pretty much the same. Coming from Nevada to Seattle is going from one extreme to the other...brown to green.
Starburst is awesome! I’m watching like 6 AT hikers and a handful of PCT hikers and it’s so interesting to see how different each video is. Really enjoying your approach to the trail and just doing what works for you. How’s your Waymark pack working out for you?
Those weren't trees, they are Ocotillo cactus ( That's octopus in spanish ) Did you ever see Dixie from Homemade Wanderlust UA-cam channel? She hiked the PCT in 2017..
Starburst is totes fitting. You have some sort of electrolyte powder with you I hope. Water alone won't relieve dehydration once you get to a certain point.
I'm glad you got some rest. you deserve it. take care of those shin splints. keep stretching. also stretch out your feet and calves more often this will probably help. heck stretch your whole lower body, hips , hamstrings etc. keep up the great work. love Starburst happy name.
Shin splint remedy for me was... place your foot flat on the floor, place a pencil under your toes, pick up the pencil w your toes and raise your toes in the air still holding the pencil w your toes and your heel on the floor. Drop the pencil in the air and repeat. Hope this helps for future splints.
I LOVE your little stops to appreciate and zoom in plants, and bugs, and views, and cacti and little animals
Julian was my first town zero.. Spoiled myself and stayed at the Julian Hotel 👍

Lordbless you all 💘 love the videos.
. now your our great teacher...we re listening to ya every word.
You hit the jackpot for trail names: “Starburst” is too cool
Starburst you need an umbrella to help give you some shade. I like your trail name it suits you. 😉
I know a lot of people have suggested an umbrella but for me its a game changer. Nice video and enjoy your adventure, take care
Might wanna get an umbrella! I heard they are a must this year on the pct!
Starburst is perfect. You are a bright shinning star. I love all the color. I am a retired RN but also studied color therapy at CU and it all fits!
Just don't become a sour Starburst....I'm enjoying the theme in your videos of free beer....every time there is beer in your video I will have one too and vicariously imagine it being free.

love your daily vlogging style. +1 sub! can't wait to follow your 2021 adventures live
You are doing great. Umbrella and on hot days I take a break from 12:30-2:00, cause that seems to be the hotter part of the day. Be well!
Hello Starburst, very appropriate name for you dear. I am really enjoying your journey on the PCT. Be safe and please take good care of yourself.
That's the way you get a trail name , and it's perfect one. Amazing job ! Thanks for sharing!
Love your trail name! You are a champ. I am so grateful that you're sharing your awesome journey with us. Thank you! Happy hiking!
I love the trail name! Sending Love and Light from VA Starburst!

Wow! I'm so jealous you saw a rosy boa. Have a great hike!
Subscribed and following your hike. You are a pretty strong girl. Best of luck.
Hey Starburst! There's lots of trail left so work yourself INTO it, instead of OUT of it. You are my PCT wannabe..... I wannabe on the trail too, but can't so I will live it thru you! Love your attitude and beautiful smile. You're a sweetheart!
I love how real your videos are! Keep going strong girl! You are amazing! I’ve been following your journey and look forward to all videos!
Great content. I love your POV camera work.
Your a very strong person and I like hearing the rhythm of your foot steps on the trail, just keeps going.
what the fuck are you talking about
Nicholas Underwood What is your problem? Ass
I Love your videos! Perfect blend of scenery, view of the human side of trail life, and excellent descriptions of what's happening to you personally, that is your inner journey. Way to go, Starburst! Great trail name. (Btw, Sorry about your original hat.)
I strongly agree with these observations. She does an excellent job editing these videos.
Ocotillo, are the "trees" you see. You are in the Sonoran moving toward the Colorado Desierto !! YAY !
You name is very fitting.
I been following quite a few people up the trail. They are getting up early and hiking. Then in the hottest part of the day taking 2-3 breaks in the shade. Most of them are just a head of you by about a week. Stay safe Sunburst😂

I believe your right. That was a Rosy Boa. What a bute too!
Smart move to stop moving in that kind of heat.
Great trail name, Starburst!!!
Most people kidneys can only process a quart per hour, so if you drink lots (a gallon) of water at one time not all of it can be processed as well as it could be if your were drinking over a few hours.
Great name "Starburst". Sounds like an Aloe party is needed. I hope you had some.
Love seeing ya’ll are enjoying our desert!

The shorter branchy ones with the long white thorns are ‘Cholla’ and they’ll jump at ya!

Carry on...
Kelli Rustin it's Ocotillo. I have two in my front yard.
Love how you are enjoying even the hard parts. I agree with the umbrella idea, also with using a lighter weight light colored hat and lighter color clothes. Star 🌟 Burst fits you very well Congratulations on a official Trail Name Happy 😃 Hiking
Awwwww stay strong Starburst you’re doing great!
The cartoonish cactus are Ocotillo. They're my favorite cactus. When they're in full bloom they're SO PRETTY!
Those cloth hats may be good in colder weather. A mesh trucker cap would be better at disapating heat.
Oh my gosh how scary!! I literally felt your pain! Dehydration is no joke and glad you're ok & safe! Strong girl! And I love STARBURST! Definitely suits you! Hope you enjoy warner springs ☺️
Are you filming with your phone or a camera?
Your vids are some of my faves from this PCT class. K
Hang in there and hike strong, Sunburst!!!
Starburst..... heat problems?! You may need some SALT or electrolytes. You need to replace ther salts you sweat out while you hike. Love your trail name and your videos. Terrific job. Best wishes.... Ax
Night hiking is always an option if that's something you'd want to do. 🌞🌙😊..
5:55 that plant is called Ocotillo - the little red blossoms make a delicious tea if you steep them in hot water then let it cool. extra nice for hikers because it can act as an anti-inflammatory

Your doing great Starburst!!!! Hope to watch you to the Canadian Border!!!
Congratulations Starburst! Happy Trails✌️
That hat was only JUST getting some character!
That poor snake looked injured. While it is so hot, are you going to try and rest during the day and do a night hike?
I guess you will figure it out as you go, but start early, even do the first hour in the dark & then find somewhere shady to rest during the day, use your tent for some shade if you need to & do another stint in the afternoon
Well done! Beautiful rosey boa! Keep on keepin on Starburst!
Neutrogena face and body SPF70 sticks are the best! They last forever and do not feel greasy. Might work better for you than the travel lotion and sprays
Free pie free beer, I think I want to come over and do this hike as well. Lol Starburst is good I like that name.

YO Starburst!! Love the videos...love the positive vibes...keep'em coming! still no rattlesnakes eh? :)
Hello Starburst. Thanks for sharing your trip.
That pie looks delicious!!
I know it’s been years, & someone may have already mentioned it; but those broom-like “trees” with orangish-red flowers (and small little green leaves hugging the branches) are ocotillo (pronounced “ah-co-tea-yo”).
Thank youuu!!!
starburst is a great trail name. I need to do a thru hike just so I can be given a trail name.
Such a fitting trail name!
Don't mess with the heat out there alone. Just recently went for a hike in Yuma, AZ in the early afternoon, heat stroke. BAD NEWS.
Starburst! So very fitting.
I know others have said it but "Electrolytes" Get some Gatorade or other electrolyte powder and have at least one liter every 3 to 4 liters of water. North TX Kayaker said it also... Get an umbrella. Keep the good attitude!! 👍👍

You haven't mentioned blisters. No blisters in your first week?!
Starburst is a bloody great name. =D
Starburst is awesome! I’m watching like 6 AT hikers and a handful of PCT hikers and it’s so interesting to see how different each video is. Really enjoying your approach to the trail and just doing what works for you.
How’s your Waymark pack working out for you?
Backcountry Exposure It’s amazing so far!!
No one ever talks about what all humans do when they eat, not just drink, but eat. How is that handled on such an apparently well traveled trail?
Those weren't trees, they are Ocotillo cactus ( That's octopus in spanish ) Did you ever see Dixie from Homemade Wanderlust UA-cam channel? She hiked the PCT in 2017..
Sorry, Just noticed you did it this year. Dixie did the CDT this year..
Hi Jennifer....miss you !!!
How do you edit your videos on the trail?
Congratulations, Starburst!!
Get yourself a umbrella! It will help a lot . I like your new name 😁
Dirt spots the shape of stars, amazing!
Love your trail name!!!!!!! (Picnic’s Mom) ❤️
You need some Gatorade powder or something like that to put in your water...to replace what you are sweating out
Starburst is totes fitting. You have some sort of electrolyte powder with you I hope. Water alone won't relieve dehydration once you get to a certain point.
Hey there again, thus far have watched all of your posts. Good job girl, keep it up, surprising me!!
23 awesome.... your rip chick!
I'm glad you got some rest. you deserve it. take care of those shin splints. keep stretching. also stretch out your feet and calves more often this will probably help. heck stretch your whole lower body, hips , hamstrings etc. keep up the great work. love Starburst happy name.
Hike early and then get out of the sun and rest throughout the heat of the day and then resume hiking again until you are ready to camp.
Starburst it is. Great trail name.
You ate at place called "Mom's"? Have you ever played cards with man named "Doc"?
I have actually 🤣
@@JenniferMabus Ok,, not going to ask the third question because sometimes its best not to know.
Get you a umbrella Starburst!
Good job starburst!!!
It must be a irish thing with the flushed skin. My face turns bright red when I hike. I have people constantly ask me if I am ok lol.
Yes, sammeeeee!! Haha
Shin splint remedy for me was... place your foot flat on the floor, place a pencil under your toes, pick up the pencil w your toes and raise your toes in the air still holding the pencil w your toes and your heel on the floor. Drop the pencil in the air and repeat. Hope this helps for future splints.
