Hi to the lady in the hedgehog hollow tutorial todays date is 18th December 2018 I have just discovered your crafting channel so I subscribed to your lovely channel you wear demonstrating on 9th December 2018 how to use the new Gemini hot foiling press...... my son gave me the Gemini hot foiling press as an early Christmas present with a load of goodies as well 🤗 how lucky am I to have a wonderful lovely son like that very lucky 😀 please can u do a tutorial on u tube of how to foil heat resistant acetate and how to foil other makes of Letter dies I will be very grateful if u can find the time out of your busy schedule thank you .....and happy Christmas to you and all Lin in South Wales uk 🎄🎆
Does it have to be a Gemini die cutting machine or can it be a manual? I have a hobbycraft own brand manual machine which has the same dimensions as the big shot.
Great video! I’m late to the party on this but after watching I really think I want one. I have a question though. With all the foiling machines available, the Minc, WRMK Foil Quill and this Gemini Foil Press, if you could only have one, which would you choose? I’m asking because I’ve got the Minc, a laser printer, and just ordered the Foil Quill, but I love the letterpress look and think I need this too...
I just seen they had this. How has it been for you? Since the Gemini has a different plate system I suppose this doesn’t work with other types of systems such as vegabond?
I have researched myself and I do like the Gemini Foilpress better. My question is can you is, can you use the Spellbinder dies made for the glimmer machine on the Gemini foilpress? I'm still debating as I'm more abstract card maker then frames and foils. Thanks for the demo.
I got lucky enough to score a Gemini Foilpress at an estate sale for $25, but I have a Spellbinders platinum die cutter. Is there a way to use them together?
@@lilly3am everything I've read is that the Gemini foil press is ONLY compatible with the Gemini die cutter (and possibly only with the automatic, not the manual, machine).
Thank you for this tutorial. I just bought the Gemini FoilPress machine, but only have the Big Shot die cutter. Can't seem to figure out the sandwich. Any ideas?
Leslie Davis I don’t know that you could use it with the big shot. The Gemini plates are different than the Gemini. There is thickness differences between them so they can’t work together. I don’t own this but that is what I am thinking
I do own both the Gemini JR and vegabond though to know the difference between the plates not working the same. Or the same thickness for each machine.
When we moved I lost the Gemini JR plates. I tried to use my Sizzix plates for it to no avail. I even have American crafts plates system. Would not work. Not my cuttlebug plates either. The thickness of all of them Was not the same and I could not get good cuts. Once I ordered new Gemini plates I could finally get good cuts again
hi, does anybody encounter a problem of this machine? I turned on the machine and waited for several minutes, but the time setting button didn't work. Something wrong with the machine? or any wrong operation?
@@HedgehogHollow so do you mean I put it on the top of the sandwich or just add it when putting it through my gemini die cutting machine, I'm not sure what you mean. I can't find any tutorials using the extender plate.
I wish I could see if regular dies could work to foil some how. That would be the kicker to get me to purchase a foil machine. I just have so many dies already. I hate to have to start buying new things just for foil machine. Has anyone tried to figure out a way to use your regular dies with foiling?
@@HedgehogHollow I was referring to what Sara called it the carbon fiber top plate. She spoke about it on this video when it debuted: ua-cam.com/video/UbtbM5amORA/v-deo.html Somewhere between 3:57 and 4:45 on the video. It is sort of green colored. It is not listed anywhere on any website I have searched.
Hi again, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, it goes through the process perfectly but doesn't give me a clean foil finish, it has foiled the image perfectly but I have a lot of foil residue around the image. I am only using the foil that came with the machine, I don't know what else to try. I'm not having any luck with the gemini foil machine at all, starting to wish I didn't get it. The die cut one works perfect, but the gemini foil press stamp dies are leaving heaps of gold residue everywhere. Would like some help ,anything you can suggest. I use the gemini foil and am only using gemini stamps dies, I am using stampin up cardstock. Would this be a problem. I'm using the extender plate as I have the large gemini die cutting machine. It seems to work fine.
Hi Angela, I had exactly the same problem with a different hot foil system using a laser printer. I searched a lot of online crafting posts to find a solution but, interestingly, the 'experts' don't answer this question! Another crafter suggested wiping the cardstock with a tumble dryer sheet before stamping/printing - I tried it and it certainly reduced the amount of 'speckling', but it didn't stop it altogether. I've given up on hot foiling now, too expensive for average results, but good luck!
@@williamshakespeare01 I feel the same I'm going to sell my Gemini Foil press machine just not worth the hazzle. I am very busy with online classes, my blog and my Utube Channel and don't have time for this . Glad it's just not me. Hi, yes its one of the first ones they made; I didn't know they changed the color but i've had it quite a long time and it's never stepped out of line!

I love this machine! Sara thinks of everything before a launch.
Great tutorial, I am ordering this machine this next week. Can’t wait to play with it and see what I can do
Yay! Tell us how it goes!
Thank you for taking the time to show us how to use the Crafter’s Companion Gemini foil press! 🥰🤗!!!

Can you use any dies or hot foil machine dies only
I just seen they had this. How has it been for you? Since the Gemini has a different plate system I suppose this doesn’t work with other types of systems such as vegabond?
How do you stop from getting the foil to only foil the die and not elsewhere on the paper?
Could you do one on the Gel-Go-Press machine. I have that one and have never been successful with it. I did by this to try but have not
thank you for sharing but why can I not get my foil to stick to my background please Help.
Thank you for sharing you show good.
love your music intro wish it was longer :)

Hi Mary, yes you can I have used both in both; I had o add a cardstock shim for one but no issues at all
So the good thing is that I can use the Gemini Hot Foil with my Gemini Jr. -- Yes?
Yes
I got lucky enough to score a Gemini Foilpress at an estate sale for $25, but I have a Spellbinders platinum die cutter. Is there a way to use them together?
No
thank you great demo of it
Can you use a Big Shot, or does it have to be a Gemini die cutting machine?
Ok, does ANYONE know the answer to this?!

Yes
Thx..good demo
How does the extender plate work with the gemini foil machine as I have the larger gemini die cutting machine.
it fits over the top to activate the switches on the large gemini machine

You can do this
Die cut with your dies, then foil the cut out die cut pieces of card!!
I don't have a gemini. I have a big shot. Why can't I use that
Do you know if the metal or carbon steel plate can be purchased separately?
Hi Reva, yes all the plates can; either through Crafter companion or Scrpabook.com, ellen hutson, or some Joanns stores
