Thank you ! Now, I need to find Both a Cats eye And Wentletraps !!!!!
Go get 'em, Nancy! 🐚
I had never heard of them before so that will give my grand daughter and I something else to look for when we go to the beach this spring
Thanks so much for watching, Lesa!
Awesome! I've heard of a cat's eye but never seen one or knew that it was an operculum. So cool! Thanks!
So glad you learned something new!
I was yelling at you to pick up the kitten or lion paws. LOL
Oh yes, there's a lot of kitten paws on these beaches! I try to stay focused on certain shells so I don't get too distracted! There are always amazing shells to be found! Thanks for watching!
Not only cat eyes, but so many kitten paws? Are you sure this is not Cat Island? 😂😂
Never knew about these but now I will certainly look for them, thanks!
So glad you learned something new! I hope you find some next time you go shelling! Thank you for watching, Debra!
I just found some cat's eyes I picked up in St. Croix in 1978 (!). The instructions that came with them say to put them in vinegar and watch them move. I did, and they do!
awesome...!!!
Hi, I have just one. I picked it up and kept it, but I didn't know what it was until your video. Thank you!
So glad you learned something new! Thanks so much for watching, Beth! I appreciate your support!
I purchased a shell bag from someone in Alabama on the Gulf Coast and found several Shiva shells. They are not shiny though and look more dull and almost fossilized.
Sometimes if they're up on the beach for long periods of time, the sun can bleach off the shine.
I was at that beach a week ago. I found 1! Dang...should have looked closer.
Hi Kathy! Now you know what to look for! Thanks for watching!
Wow! Thanks. I have heard of cats eyes but never saw one. I don’t have much luck with finding turbo shells. But now I am more determined to find each!
I hope you find some on your trip, Laurie! Countdown!!
Nice,I have never heard of them.I will be looking for some now. Thanks for sharing,Happy Thanksgiving
So glad you learned something new, Debra! Thanks for watching and shelling with me!
I have never found a turbo and quite frankly, I didn’t even know they existed until I started watching your episodes. I love how flat and smooth the cat’s eyes are. You amaze me at how you train your eyes to spot things! Thanks again for another informational episode. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all the subscribers 🦃
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well! Thanks so much for watching and shelling with me!
Thank you for this great video! I saw a payout of beautiful earrings made with the cat’s eyes. I ran across your video when I looked the shiva stone up on google. It was especially helpful to see how you spot them. I will certainly search for them the next time I’m at the beach! Thanks again for a great video!
I found over 200 in one day at that very same beach snorkeling. They are everywhere on that beach.
WOW that's a lot of cats eyes! yes, this is definitely the beach to find them!
Honeymoon Island is where I found more shiva shells than I could pick up. Chestnut turbans were everywhere in between the rocks.
Yes that's a very popular place to find them! It's amazing how some beaches are known for certain shells. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! There are tons of turbans where I shell at Honeymoon Island state park. Lots of variations in colors as well. The little cat's eyes are there too but sometimes harder to find.
Yes honeymoon island does have a lot of Turbos! Thanks for watching and for your support!
My daughter brought me back a large cat's eye from South Africa. For a long time I didn't know what it was. But kept it anyway. I love shells and asked her to bring me some back. But this really puzzled me what it was.
That's such a neat gift for her to bring back to you! Thanks for shelling with me, Val!
I was just at Honeymoon Island two weeks ago and found 110 Turbos. I passed up many many others, I wish I had known about these earlier LOL. But then again, I'm pretty good about picking up things I don't "know" and keeping, so I'm not sure I saw any, sigh now another shell to add to the "to find list" and the itching to get back to Florida starts now! Happy Thanksgiving BTW!
Are puka shells and shieva shells the same thing????
I WANT THAT TINY CATS EYES!!!!!!!!!! AND BABY TURBANS
In 1:45 its my son turban☺️
I honestly thought you'll show how to find alive ones... Why are you collecting them? If you have family visiting Bahrain, I could send you about a kilo of these covers. I normally just throw them after eating the animal🤭
We rarely see live Turbos in our area. The cats eyes are just another sea treasure we like to find and collect, like any other seashell, and a lot of shellers use them for craft projects! It's actually illegal to collect live seashells here in our country and state, only certain species can be collected alive and you must have a permit to harvest them. Thanks so much for watching!
