Finishing The Road Base with Caterpillar 308 Excavator and Caterpillar 941 Traxcavator

The last phase of this clearing job was cutting a road base through the woods for the client. To do so, I used the Cat 308 and Cat 941 to remove a few stumps and rough grade the base. The lot was once a landfill. So, every time I excavated a hole, I dug up a lot of trash, water heaters, axles, tires, wire, a grill, and stuff. People had also dumped a lot of trash, tires, and junk in the woods. So, you'll see there is a lot of surface debris. My task was not to clean that up, so I just pushed it to the side as best I could. All the debris that I left behind will be covered by fill dirt and asphalt millings so the customer can expand the parking area.

Looking good. I can't believe the amount of trash you are having to deal with on that land. You go to grade and another piece of something just pops up out the ground. I never understand people sometimes, why let people trash your own place up like that? Someone has to be paid to remove it.

Yeah, I hear ya. Folks have been dumping back there for decades!
