Brother he was so awake it's not even funny, I feel so sorry for him man he was a few years too early but he did his part here and I hope he's rewarded for that
I been following STEEZ stuff since 2012. This was by far the most detailed, and finally someone painted us a picture of his journey using every piece of evidence we have. Towards the end this got hard to watch, I never knew about the stussy colab and store, wish I would’ve went. I was from Jersey
Been a PE fan since the Survival Tactics video dropped in February 2012. This is a really well done documentary man. I also wish you could’ve showed STEEZ’s posts on Social Media as it really showed some insight into what was on his mind at the time, but I think you covered it very well for people who weren’t around during that era. I hope this gets a million views because it’s about time that one of my favorite rappers who influenced me on my musical journey will finally get his shine.
Dude this was a great video especially as someone who’s never went this deep into the history behind pro era it was an amazing way to learn about a group I used to truly adore keep being great man
Dude thank you so much for this. I’m only 20 minutes in cuz I’m watching it in 10 minute intervals when I take breaks as I fix my car. But man, this got me reminiscing on my highschool years & wanting to go download all my old steez music from my old computer so I can bump it in my car once it’s fixed. It’s sad a lot of it is not on streaming platforms except UA-cam & SoundCloud 😢 although he woulda probably preferred thatz
LONG LIVE CAPITAL STEEZ. My name “Steelokey” is partially a tribute to him. Although it originated from the “1996” song “Steelo” by the group 702. Cause I was born in Vegas in 96 haha & my name is Steven L. But he was one of my biggest influences when I started writing before I started recording.
Thank you for taking the time to do this incredibly intricate documentary piece of cap steez. The passion was felt man, much appreciated. Also rest in peace to your father man.
As a huge fan of STEEZ myself, and as someone who has done probably as much research on his life and career, I’ve gotta say this was very well done. A true deep dive. A bit more for anyone interested, Isaa Gold from The Underachievers made a comment under the music video for their track “Herb Shuttles” debunking any conspiracy theories while also positing the question why fans didn’t hold STEEZ with such reverence while he was still with us. The comment is still up to this day, though you may have to scroll to find it. Another very telling account from someone close to STEEZ came in the form of a track titled “Spirit of STEEZ” by Dyme A Duzin, an early inspiration and collaborator or STEEZ. Dyme speaks on his friend’s mental state by saying “homie told me he was so caught up in the studies, felt like he was Satan/ Really ain’t know how to take it”. Dyme also threw shots at Joey saying “I know that prodie a con, can tell by the way that he dress and his aura”, “Couldn’t beef with a 🥷’s fam and then wear his image on my chain/ Could’ve been a unit but they moving senseless, look how 🥷’s switch up for the change” & “Put you in the ground for thinking you PAC”. Dyme doesn’t name Joey specifically here (though he has in the past) but there is enough context in these lines for anyone who knows to put it together. There was also STEEZ tumblr account which had him replying to lots of questions from fans, though that may be inactive at this point. If anyone can find it, maybe they can link it. Just wanted to add some more. Thanks again for this 👊🏽ㄣ⃒
Isaa Gold is full of 💩. The fact of the matter is that Joey Badass met up with Jay Z, a known Crowley fanatic and Satanist, and after that Steez unalives himself (if he really did it to himself). The dots are not hard to connect, Joey Badass is clearly a wicked individual who very likely would sell out even his best friend for fame.
I had never heard of him till now. I stopped the video 2 mins in to quickly check out some of his stuff. WOOOWWW! I'm hooked! Some of the best raps I've heard in a long time!
It’s so dope that you have released this at this current time. I was just telling a new friend of mine about capital steez impact on rap/ culture. It’s nice to go through this time capsule and even nicer to see someone has put so much heart and passion into making a video essay of one of New Yorks latest and greatest . God bless 💕
Bro great job foreal best in depth video on someone that should be talked about more steez would love to see where he would be at today keep us updated on new content
Amazing video this deserves way more views you had some facts that I had never heard of STEEZ is my all time favorite rapper and the only person in history that I would follow, he has impacted my life so much I wish he was still around I’m 23 I first seen STEEZ when I was 12 my cousin drew a picture of him with the 47 logo I asked him and I said why do you have the Nazi logo on here and he explained who STEEZ was and how he died years later I came across his music and it changed my life and helped me out when I was finding myself 47 is my favorite number and has impacted my life as well my cousin has ties with the number and one day this guy handed a paper to my brother on it with a Rose and the number 47 on it then a little later my dad passed away on April 7th 2017 4/07/17 at the age of 47 it’s crazy man long live Steelo
defo feel that he was under some psychosis, man I just hope all is right with everyone consuming his music and to take his life as a lesson on all levels
Great content bro, I promise you gonna grow & blow up 💯 keep the content the same- but trust the process and invest in yourself king. New mic needed asap.
RIP STEEZ! I’m 28 now as of Aug 2nd, but I was deep onto Pro Era back when I was 17. 1999 was my shit back then listened to it religiously. Great post fam, we all felt this loss back then and still do. Dude was WOKE! I thought I was woke at 17 reading Manly P Hall and shit but dude was really conscious
I just wish the crew could come back together for the love of Steez... My love be with your family and the crew Capital Steez, the Koolie Family Mafia love you and your missed. Rest well bro 💔
You forgot one thing. there’s a podcast that interviewed Joey bout getting Signed and Joey talked about how Fat joe wanted to sign him and steez but Joey denied and went with shipes so steez and him had friction between them.
I have an amerikkkan korruption white tee it has the album name on the back, red pro era logo on the front, and the 47 on the sleeve, my favorite piece I own of all my clothes. Never knew what it’d be worth never seen it anywhere else. Original print merch too man I love that thing.
Rest In Peace Steelo🙏🏿... I was born 10 years after Capital Steez in 2003 on the 7 July we share birth date I understand what he went through it everything that I'm going through #longlivesteelo #47
I appreciate it so much! There’s always been an air of mystic to Steez but in telling his full story it was my goal to humanize this larger than life figure. Very glad I could do that and you caught it, much love
Ion know if anyone ever thought of this but he says in the video that STEEZ once described himself as an indigo child, and funny enough Joey Badass’s daughters name is Indigo. Not sure if that’s where Joeys Inspiration came from to name his daughter 🤔
Fully watched btw I just really got hipped to bro music like 2 days ago (crazy I know) I knew of him and maybe heard a song or 2 but man I heard Amerikka Corruption and said wtf was I doing that I missed this? 🤦🏾♂️ RIP too Steez
Part of me is mad at the Pro Era guys for being getting Steez more help and almost just “accepting” his suicidal ideation but then I remind myself they were just kids especially in late 2000s to early 2010s people weren’t educated on mental health/suicide signs back then and there weren’t as many mental health resources as there are nowadays
I have not finished the video, but I just wanted to say this. From listening to him for 15 years and comparing all my research and watching this video He was angry . The only thing he had was his art. The only thing he had was to create his music. Not only did he feel like pro error was taken from him. Then you stopped his ability to record. He was screaming out for help He told you the tail of a broken black teenager with no guidance in a racist system. He felt like his idea was stolen his expression creativity was gone, the religion that he believed in was wrong and no one to talk to at 19. He was trying to break free from every corner of the system and he couldn’t I could be wrong, but I’m a cut this short and I say that to say long live king capital steez

Still doesn’t mean he would be alive still. 🤷
