It's Ray Roper here...the voice on this song. we just re-released "New set of changes" on Escape records and I came across this version of our tune with beautiful images that go along with the lyrics. Great job indeed!
You guys should have had more hits. At least a follow-up or two from this album, there were a lot of great songs on this one. Thanks for the music Ray!
Great song! Was nostalgic about my life, remembered that that song was OUR SONG! Still think of you Karen 💘💗. I was so pleased that I found it here on UA-cam. Thanks for preserving this sentimental little song from a great time for Canadian music and Canadian performers!
love them and leave them give them the air, hurt and deceive them say you dont care, break their hearts and let them fall like rain on your back stairs.. then call me up tomorrow you know i'll still be there.....
It's Christmas Holidays everywhere...but I felt the bosom taste of Valentines Day whenever Ii play and hear this song that has never left me alone through the years - kze kahit nagkaka edad na tyo - I wont forget - " I Will Still Love You " my first and my bestfriend...
My God I forgot how beautiful this song is. So very long since I had last heard it. Thank you so much for posting it here to be heard once more again and again.
@MrEODTEK I certainly agree... great songs like this can certainly take us back in time and bring back those good old memories... Enjoy the reminiscing those moment with your gf Colleen. Cherish the Love!
Somewhere I have this on a 45 along with something I can't seem to find on here: Too Late by Brian and the Liars, which I'd gotten from my cousin who played bass with them for awhile. So if you have that one, maybe you could post that too? Great memories. Thank you for posting this.
@@nathalieconnor5803 - Not only a strange thing to say as a reply to the above comment, but wildly inaccurate. You think all US bands are KISS or something?
@@burningoldsage4012 Listen with the seventies came arena concerts and the need for bands to visually entertain their audiences at the same time. Hence pyrotechnics and the like became a necessary inclusion. Think Alice Cooper for example. Lyrics took a back seat as did quiet venues. Artists of the troubadour genre from the sixties and seventies had their work cut out for them. That's not to say they were not listened to, but pop music was heading in another direction. And being over the top became a staple as the decade wore on. Can you imagine Dylan, Joan Baez, Laura Nyro, The Seekers, Joni Mitchell, Pete Seeger, Janis Joplin, or John Denver acquiescing to the big hair trend of the eighties?! LOL! Did I think all US bands were KISS? Certainly not. But were their followers also into Cat Stephens, Valdy , Jim Croce or Harry Chapin?
@@nathalieconnor5803 - "But were their followers also into Cat Stephens, Valdy , Jim Croce or Harry Chapin?" Frankly, yes. '70s listeners were eclectic. Look at the Charts from those days. Don't forget: At Woodstock, The Who shared the same stage Richie Havens used. We resank into tribalism in the '80s. But my reaction had more to do with your lyrics remark, and it's ironic you brought up Alice: Skip the crap like "Department of Youth" and read the lyrics of "Only Women Bleed", Years Ago" and "Stephen". Check out "Love It To Death" and the sardonic "Hallowed Be My Name", the provocative "Second Coming" and "The Ballad of Dwight Fry". The Eagles played more than a few arena/stadium shows, and the lyrics off "Hotel California" are brilliant, especially "Wasted Time" and "Last Resort". IMO, Broad brushes are great for painting houses, but you might want to use a finer brush for art. And besides, not every Canadien songstress is Joni Mitchell. Don't forget we can always rebut with: Anne Murray. ;)
@@burningoldsage4012 Funny you mention “ Only Women Bleed” because as I wrote Vincent's namesake’s moniker, I thought about this very song wondering if American audiences could get past the snake, bat and chicken to actually hear the words and their sentiment. They have a long track record of misunderstanding lyrics en masse! “ Born in the USA”, “American Woman” “I write the Songs”, « Every Breath You Take » and my personal favourite, “She’s My Girl, Bill” (Truth be told, Paul McCartney had me fooled with « Ticket to Ride. « 😳 Ah yes I was indeed using a wide paintbrush to compare the two music buffs. (Say didn't golf save both Anne and Alice?) When comparing the two I had youth culture in mind. Having grown up in Generation Jones , we were given a front row seat to songwriters no longer writing for others ( Carole King, Laura Nyro, Neil Diamond) but starting to express themselves. When the moon disappears forever And the sun shines electric blue And the mountains and trees tumble into the sea To rest there for eternity No matter what you do I will still love you
Yeah that last image is a bit morbid but okay. This was one of my Top 4 songs in 1978. I liked the whole album, and all four songs on Side 1 were not just good--they were great.
Beautiful song that I hadn't heard in 18 years. This is one of those perfect songs where you can't say a single thing against it there's this perfect vibe perfect melody- it's timeless. No matter how many horrible scumbags like trump there are they will never stop us from living our dreams.
@@johnsullivan4976 No, "Juvenile American Princess" was Stonebolt's fourth album, without this song; "I Will Still Love You" was from the first album "Stonebolt."
Except for the horrid abuse image at 1:21. "if all your lovers strike you too tame" means "if all your lovers give you the impression of being too tame." That means not passionate enough. It's not about striking / hitting a woman. Two of my friends were driven to suicide by domestic violence.
Pure genuine music. No cursing. No bad words. ❤
Sweet soft music of my era. Nothing today compares to these classics of ystrdy. Takes me back to happy days.
This song shows why Canadian Music is every bit the equal of American & British music.
Wow. I have not heard this in 40 years. Profound. Now that I am a Christian, I can hear God singing this to me about His Unconditional Love.
This song should've gone higher than #29 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 1978.
Was number 1 in my charts , With an international record deal - this should have been a worldwide hit .

You are extremely gifted at matching images with the words to this fine song.
