Sleeper at pass rusher that I would love the Falcons to land: Antwaun Powell-Ryland from VT. Finished with 15 sacks on the year, and was a player you constantly saw gravitating to the ball. I don't get why he isn't higher on boards. His stats improved every year, too.
Hopefully he gets an invite to the NFL combine and has good testing results. I think scouts want to match that up with his production the last 2 years.
Anything but a pass rusher in round 1 will be a bad pick even if the player is good/great. We desperately need a true pass rusher. It’s time to address the issue that’s plagued us for such a long time.
If Williams stays healthy he’s a top 2 pass rusher in the class. I don’t think he needs a lot of development. What he needs is conditioning to stay healthy.

Pitts,Mooney,McCloud had worser stats when Penix Jr. was directing the offense.Had a lot of turnover worthy plays that the defense dropped.Older player that hasn't learned to throw with touch.
@@dark8prince201Penix also had a lot of offensive plays that were barely missed due to his lack of time practicing with them and lack of chemistry. It will come, and those mistakes will be corrected with more development and reps. But it was clearly on display his big play ability. This offense just runs a lot better when you have a guy who can put some real zip on the ball and moves a lot better in the pocket. Those rookie mistakes were bound to happen, dont think too much on it because he’s gonna get better and most of those picks weren’t even his fault.
@1:44 "you don't draft a RT just to have him play LT. No but we did draft a RT to play RG. So it's well within the realm of possibility with this team. Hell, we drafted a QB/RB/LE to play Edge/,OLB
Yeah that was a poor choice of words by me. What i really should have said/meant was if tackle is not one of your biggest needs you should not take one in round 1 and immediately change their position
reminder that the falcons have no hit on a pass rusher since Pat Kerney in 1999. Yes, Beasley had 15.5 sacks in 2016, but about 11 of those sacks came vs Denver, LA, and SD that season and he pretty much did nothing all other years he was here. Some will say Grady Jarrett, but let's be honest. Grady is not a "Pass Rusher." He's a solid, well rounded player who can do a bit of run stopping and sometimes get to the QB, but we are thinking a double digit sack guy on the edge like an outside backer or DE. Don't forget we took Jamal Anderson in 2007 who went on to accumulate all of 2-3 total sacks as a falcon when we also needed LB help and Pat Willis was sitting there. We took Peria Jerry over Clay Matthews, and Jerry went on to have zero impact as a falcon in his short few years on the team. We took Takk McKinley over TJ Watt, and we all know how that turned out. If Atlanta finally decides to address defensive areas of need, instead of the best offensive player available method they've used every year of TF's tenure as GM, can we really trust this incompetent team to select the correct guy at the pass rush position? And for all the fake falcons fans: John Abraham was not drafted by atlanta. It's amazing how everytime i list these concerns, people respond with "Mike Smith drafted john abraham." Abraham came down in free agency in 2006 two coaches and one GM before Mike Smith was ever a head coach.
I would definitely go with an edge rusher before the corner. Petey, your hometown guy is Pierce. My hometown guy is Simeon Barrow out of Grovetown, Georgia. He played DT for Miami last year. He was at Michigan State prior to that. He was a DE in high school who was converted to a DT. I would love to snatch him up with our 4th round pick.
I feel like people are sleeping of jack sawyer like he’s a great pass rusher overall a essential piece in osu defense but nobody ever talks about him especially falling to us I really do feel that jack if we drafted him would really help our pass rush
Raheem has already proven he isn’t it, hasn’t even learned his lesson about hiring his buddies. Just replaced one friend (Lake) with another (Ulbrich). Can’t take this team seriously.
Nick Emmanwori 225lbs+ South Carolina playmaking safety who jumps in front of WRs and takes it the distance. David Bailey 240lb OLB Stanford 5 forced fumbles 4th rd. Kyle Kennard 254lb DE South Carolina 11.5 sacks late 2nd- early 3rd rd. Donovan Ezeiruaku 247lb DE Boston College 16.5 sacks 3rd rd. Princely Umanmielen 255lb DE Ole Miss 10.5 sacks early 2nd rd.
I would love for us to get Walker, Revel, Sawyer, Starks, or Pierce Jr. I wouldn’t mind either of these players. Hopefully someone slides so we can grab 2 of them 😂
why would we get another receiver when we already have basically two 1,000 yard receivers in drake and mooney? plus McCloud balled out at 3. It would waste a pick when we need so much help on defense.
I think we should take James Pearce Jr if he is still availble for us. If not, Trade down for more picks and take a chance on Jack Sawyer. I do like the Tyler Warren pick up though.
Are you serious when you would pass on Jihaad Campbell because we have Landman and Anderson? If you believe that we don't need to replace both of those guys I'm unsubscribing from your channel because with that thought process you have lost all credibility with me.
I really like Jihaad and have the Falcons trading back and still drafting him at 20-25. He would be a huge upgrade to a lacking linebacker room. I’m hoping they then double dip at edge or go edge, CB.
First of all the draft alone is never enough to put together a consistent winner. You have to fill important gaps through free agency. How will they be able to go after top quality free agents when team management has burdened the team with $67 million in dead cap money. When they signed a 36 year old QB coming off a serious injury they didn’t just make a bad decision for last year but this year will be impacted too. Because of the teams financial situation will they have to sign second tier players and try to sell the fans on how awesome they are. As of January 9th they have just over $6 million dollars in cap space so they’ll be trying to restructure contracts. Be ready to see them cut players not because they want to but because they have to for financial reasons. You see because of the management of this team they are ranked 28th in available cap space. The fans just have to hope that the coach recycling program hire for DC is good at making the most out of limited resources and that the historically below 500 head coach exceeds expectations.
I BELIEVE you take the best defensive player on the board. We need all levels to be improved and that includes DLine, LBs, CBs and a Safety. Somewhere in this draft that nobody is talking about is do we need a kicker. We probably could've won 3 more games if we would've made our FGs. I love koo but I like winning games better
I understand but let’s be real, Kirk cost us like 4-5 games, If he had played better we would’ve never been in the position to have to rely on Koo. I saw we strictly focus on defense this draft, and definitely address pass rush 1st pick. Too many years of being bottom of the league in sacks, pressures, tkl, etc. That has to change
I’m sure most of us are Bulldogs fans but if you’re not go watch the tape on Mykel Williams. I think he’s our guy. Great take on the safety position. I agree that’s dessert at this point.
No we aren’t mostly. I don’t want to see Falcons pick another developmental guy. Get the guy who has shown the most production and has polished technique. I’d take Mike Green before Mykel Williams.
