When this film came out, the public thought the footage was real. The actors were complete unknowns, they used their real names and they did no promotion for the film. It was the first film promoted through the Internet. They created a website with missing posters and all kinds of other fake info that completely fooled the public. It wasn't until about 3 weeks into its release that they revealed the truth.
It is also the most profitable film ever made. It was made for around $30,000 (including promotion) and made over 100 million.
The ONLY people who thought this was real were dumbass teenagers with no critical thinking skills! Give me a break...
Not the last time that people were fooled by internet postings.
No the most profitable film ever made was Paranormal Activity. Made for $15,000 and made over $200 million.
@@MaskMcGee You're right, but I meant at the time.
Remember the SciFi channel did a documentary of the documentary complete with a fleshed out story of The Blair Witch & interviews with the families & friends of the missing students leading up to the movie. I remember that the girlfriend didn’t like the girl & thought she was bossy. It was done really well to build up the buzz for the movie.
I saw this in theaters when it came out. You could hear a pin drop in the end from the tension. I didn’t think it affected me, but I stood up and immediately almost fell over because my legs buckled probably from fear. That’s never happened to me before. The promotional campaign for this movie was insane. Most of us thought it was real found footage- this was when the internet was still a baby in many ways. It’s iconic, started an entire horror genre, and the marketing will never ever be as effective ever again.
It created the worst kind of movie.
It scared me for weeks!
I saw BW3 at SDCC 2018 when they were still pretending it was The Woods. Watching everyone who had never seen BW1 watching it..... it was like being back in my old town watching BW1 for the first time.
Watched it in the theater also and after the last scene i don't think anyone got up for 10 minutes. We all just sat there lol
I love seeing reactors who actually appreciate the lack of jump scares. This is such a good movie and I think it still holds up really well.
I remember when this movie came out. I was a senior in high school. Everyone thought it was real. I even bought the book. Also, one night, we were partying at my friend's house after senior prom. We watched the movie. Everyone went outside to smoke and drink. I stayed inside and stood in a corner. When they came back inside, they all freaked out 😂
Intelligent people didn't think it was true...
LOL
Wonderful gag!
@@jasontapp8312I did but in my defense I was only 11 I didn’t know the difference. As I got older I realized it wasn’t real.
I was somewhere around being a teenager when it came out. That corner thing freaked me out. Always would check the corners of dark rooms. I still hate going into basements/crawl spaces because of this movie and a couple others.
This is the best reaction to The Blair Witch Project. You two understood the horror better than any other channel I've seen.
'Young Frankenstein" for Halloween!! THE perfect antidote to this movie!! HILARIOUS
Yes!!!!
Yes Young Frankenstein, a Mel Brooks film featuring Gene Wilder!
PERFECT!!
One of the funniest spoofs of all time. A true classic, filled with iconic, hilarious performances.
It was a great film…all the great one liners….”Those are huge knockers”, “Thanks”…lol
That last scene of him in the corner and her screaming as the camera falls gave me chills in the theater and still does when I see it
Fun fact: Heather now owns a pot company. After all of that, I probably would, too.
@@bryymiller2475 "do we have any weed?"
As a proud Maryland resident, I knew the location of the house they find at the end. Me and a friend went to visit the house one late afternoon back in 1999. It was very creepy and we didn’t stay too long. Unfortunately, the house was torn down a few years later as it was falling apart and was a safety hazard. We wanted to see the hand prints on the walls but they had already been removed by either the filmmakers or other random people who went there before us.
yeesh imagine going down to the basement and seeing someone standing in the corner. i bet a lot of people who went there redid that scene
@@Killbayne we did go down to the basement. Luckily for us nobody was there 🤣
This was the scariest movie experience I've had watching in a theater. I've done a lot of camping and hiking, so this felt so realistic and my heart was pounding out of my chest. It took me a few years before I went camping in a tent again.
This movie really was the first time that the internet was effectively used to market a film. There were websites in advance of its release that helped bolster the idea that this was actually real. It would basically lead to intense online marketing for so many future movies.
It was a crap movie
lol movie websites and marketing had been around since 1994. Just because it was the first movie YOU came across that had a website doesn't mean it was a trailblazer.
@@sarcasticstartrek7719The way it was done with Blair Witch wasn't done before. The story of three missing teens and the Blair Witch spread through the internet as a real story. The fake news stories on the website, the fake articles, the story of the Blair Witch, because the way it was done, it basically sold the movie with basically just that website as the marketing and had people going into this believing it was real. Now days, it's done through social media. That's why every now and again, there's a viral sleeper hit movie because it's pushed through word of mouth, then it spreads, and the advertisement was through the internet instead of tv advertisements...
@@rileyandmikejuvenile response. Try and contribute something of value.
@@SurvivorBriit was pretty terrible as far as movies go.
The history behind this movie is really cool! During and after the production of this movie all of the actors went completely silent for a while, and people truly thought this movie was real. It got to the point where one of the main characters relatives sent their family a condolences card. Everyone (my parents included) saw this movie and were terrified of it. Glad to see you guys watching it as well :)
Being around at that time was truly something else. It was a phenomenon like no other and could never be repeated.
I live about 45 minutes away from Burketsville, over in WV on the other side of the Potomac River.
The first "viral" movie before social media :)
The theatre experience will never be able to be repeated :D
yup remember all the kids in school talking about this movie and I live in nz
i grew up in MD and was there when this came out. Like they said it was a once in a lifetime and cant be repeated. people really thought it was real
The actors were always somewhat close to the road and civilization at all times. They essentially walked in circles and were given a GPS device by the Directors. Each day, the Directors would leave each actor personal notes of instructions to keep a basic storyline going but the dialogue was mostly improv. In fact, I think they ended up with over 40 hours of footage that needed to be cut down to just 90 minutes. At night the Directors would stalk them and they were ones making noises in the woods. So the actors’ reactions are mostly genuine. In fact, at the movie’s climax and ending, they said Heather was so worked up and frightened that it took awhile to really calm her down.
When this movie came out this was an awesome time for film. The "found footage" genre had not been done like this before so there were so many people that were seriously arguing that this was actually real!
It made it harder when you were in actually places that had actual Witch Trials like we did in Virginia. It made the whole thing so surreal.
There was no found footage movies until this over rated movie came out.
@@chasejackson7248 If you don't like it then why waste your time here?
I watched this movie in a theater by myself. That night my 3 year old daughter came in my room to wake me up...I opened my eyes right as she leaned over my face. I SCREAMED in that poor babies face lol she screamed too and ran in place she was so scared. Husband came up out of bed in like panic fight mode. I had to jump up and scoop her up. I dont think any of us slept that whole night after that
hahahahaha omg we were crying in the theatre snd too scared to walk back to the car at night. We all watched cartoons when we got home.
I showed up JUST to see Jay freaked out.
Mike was standing in the corner! The theories as to why are never ending .I remember when this movie came out and people said the video camera aspect of it was making them nauseous and sick. And there was also a promotional documentary made about the people who “found the footage” that they used to really make it seem like it could be real. At the time it was considered one of the best guerrilla marketing campaigns ever done because the return on how much was spent versus how much it made with so lopsided. The movie still freaks me out to this day and I can’t watch it alone. I think it captures the 90s in rural areas really well too. Like will we ever know the stress of what it’s like to not be able to call into work again? Great watch y’all.
I believe he was standing in the corner because it was following the story of the Blair Witch. In the beginning of the movie when the cast interviewed the village near the woods, the story was told about how the cursed witch used to kill the children where one child would stand with their face towards the corner of the room, so they wouldn't see the other child being murdered. When Heather was being killed, Mike had his face towards the corner so he couldn't watch Heather being murdered.
There’s a theory that there never was a witch, and that Mike & Josh plotted and tricked Heather the entire time, then killed her. 😳
@@Indiana_Jones-Z Never heard *that* one! LOL
I remember watching the movie in the theater, being super scared, but when I saw Mike standing in the corner I legitimately thought "is he taking a leak?" and it totally broke the immersion.
@@JackSmith1136 😂Did you *really* think that? While watching a scary movie? 😜
I swear when she is running out of her tent when the tents is rattling you can breifly see a face 21:41
Jay talking about him just being creeped out 😂- that was me watching this originally in the theatre. It was such a vibe and was long before the “found footage” type had been overdone
In the last scene, we see a black and white camera perspective heading down the stairs. This is Heather’s POV, the reason she sounds far away is because her voice is being picked up on Mike’s camera who was down in the basement. I think the camera that Heather was using at that moment only recorded video and not audio. At least, that’s the way I interpreted it.
Our family always goes to the North woods for summer vacation. My sister and I watched this in the theater, came home, and told our parents "Yeah, we're not going walking in the woods this year."
😂
I think the woods in the Pacific Northwest are the scariest. These are scary but at least you can see a little bit
Guys, let me tell you! Saw this at the cinema on Halloween night - then had to drive home through the woods!! I did not sleep for days!!! Great reaction, thanks so much 🙏🙏🙏 xx
I'm in Denmark, this movie came out here early December 1999, went to the premiere with two friends, and that same evening Denmark was hit by the biggest storm in decades, so when we got out almost everything was on lockdown, roofs were blowing off houses, etc. It was crazy. And on top of that, this movie made me afraid of the dark for days.
@@DannX68 wow!! 😮 I remember that storm on the news!
Love that you're going scarier. Have you tried or thought about The Grudge?
It’s a fear of the unknown is what made it scary
I watched this in the theatre, but now I've got shivers and goose bumps all over again watching it with you guys ... Thanks 😂🎉
My parents and I saw this on VHS and it scared the hell out of us! My mom couldn't even sleep for a week and didn't want to watch the movie Ever again.
All at the same time so glad and so sorry that you watched this. I’m a horror film lover and I don’t mind saying that of ALL of the films I’ve seen, this is the only one that STILL freaks me out to this day, and I saw it way back when it first came out. Like others in the comments, I am an east coaster so I can really relate to stumbling around as a teenager/young adult in woods like the ones in the film. Just keep telling yourself that it was only a film….it helps.
The scene with the closeup of half her face in the dark crying and terrified has been spoofed a lot in other movies since (I think in Scary Movie)
I watched this in the theater. Those scenes when the screen was black was crazy dark in the theater. Huge round of applause at the end by all the horror fans.
This movie makes me so nostalgic for the late 90s.
The theaters were so packed when this was released. No social media etc. Everyone thought it was a real documentary. Everyone was scared af.
This is one of those movies that people either love it or hate it I for one absolutely loved it
That’s probably true because I thought it was silly. Lol
I wouldn't say I hate it, but it didn't do a thing for me. I guess I'd say I was bored more than anything. After seeing it, I remember I told my friends that it was like a "mildly unpleasant camping trip".
I don't like it.
I was very disappointed when I first saw it as I felt like it was filled with bad acting. I still think that. 🫤
I was bored. 🥱
I tried to get into it as a psychological thriller and put myself in their place, but unlike other psychological thrillers that I enjoy, this one didn't cause me to feel anything for the trio. They got on my nerves.
@@DJHolte
"A mildly unpleasant camping trip"? 🤔
I never thought of it that way. 😄
I'm not that creative.... I just tell people that I think it's boring, has bad acting and that the trio annoys me.
I’ll never forget a friend of mine was so convinced this was real until a few months later when he was watching the MTV Movie Awards I believe and the three of them came out to present an award. It was so funny seeing the look on his face and hearing him say “they’re alive?”
😂😂 That's classic!
Yep! That was me at the time. 🤣🤣🤣
I remember this! It was hilarious!
The Halloween after this movie was released, my third oldest son made stick figures like in the movie and hung them in the trees in the yard. It made quite an impression on Trick or Treaters!
You haven't seen Deliverance??? Oh, man! You gotta see Deliverance! One of the classics of all classics!
Y'all must check out The Others with Nicole Kidman! It's a ghost story with an amazing twist.
I grew up running around the forests of Pennsylvania. One night after watching this movie in the theaters we were all partying at night in the woods that we weren’t usually in. While walking home our flashlights died. It made for a very scary unpleasant walk in the woods in the pitch black dark of night (no moon that night) with this fresh on my mind. I now live 30 mins from where this was filmed in Maryland. LOL
Oh my goodness. That would have scared the daylights out of me! Or the brunette out of me! LOL I would have woken up the next day with a visible amount of grey in my hair!😂 I was born and raised in PA! Still live here!😁
@@frauleinmona yeah, I was definitely scared. I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face. Couldn’t find the path and had to fight through mountain laurels. I woke up covered in scratches and all black and blue.
@@RyanJakubco Wooo! I don't doubt that you *were* scared! Oh man! I can't believe you had scratches and bruises all over you. Yikes! Hope you didn't have to go to work or school for several days! Or both!😂

Yeah but i guess the witch can f with your mind or maybe even alter the environment.. 😟
Yeah ain't no way in hell you're walking anywhere for 4 days on the east coast and not finding *something*
There's one thing I learned in the Army, you have to stay absolutely cool when you're in the bush. You can't turn on each other or anything like that. The people who can handle themselves are the people who thrive out there.
I saw this at the Theater with my Mom and Sister. We thought it was incredibly real, and then we read the disclaimer in the end credits lol! It got us so good!
I’m so happy you guys liked it! It’s a divisive movie, and I’m always sad when reactors don’t like it lol. This movie has a lot of nostalgia for me as it came out when I was in 8th grade, and at the time it was marketed as real (found footage movies were not yet a thing, so that was believable back then). Like Amber mentioned, I grew up in woods as well (I actually grew up in a place called the Black Hills like in the movie) and every day I walked a mile to school along a quiet, winding road through the woods. There were also a lot of deer and the sounds their hooves made on the road were just like the sounds from the movie. Creeped me out for years!
If you want to be more creeped out, watch the companion “documentary” they made called Curse of the Blair Witch, which goes more into the legend.
I also recommend watching some UA-cam videos about the making of the movie. The reason it feels so real and genuine is because there was no script and the only guidance the actors had is they’d find notes each morning with some general guidelines. So so much of the emotion in the film is real.
So happy you guys found it scary ♥️♥️♥️
I think it's an excellent movie because being lost in the woods is scary - and is also something that can happen to anyone - plus it's even scarier if you come across other people / noises at night
Exactly! I grew up surrounded by woods, it was my playground. When I saw that movie as a teenager... holy F!!!! The sounds are too real. They did an excellent job. The whole vibe is exactly what it feels like to be lost in the woods.
This was such a great concept for a horror film! The creepy monster is always just out of view and idea of “found” film from the “documentary crew”. Such a great horror story. The actors did such a GREAT job!
but but but they were not "actors" eeeeek
My best friend made me watch this movie,he turned off all the lights, pushed the sound to the max , and had a blast watching me freak out!😂😂😂
This movie is definitely going to freak you out ! Happy Monday 🙋🏻♀️
One year, I went hiking with a group of friends. One of them had to leave after a couple of hours because he had work. But he made some of those stick figures and hung them up across the trail for us to find later on our way back. It was equal parts creepy and hilarious.
It is not a true story in reality, but set up to make people believe it was. They had one of the first movie like, "internet websites" with the "story" behind it. It was brillant marketing, actually. I think it may hold the record for the movie that made the most money times what it actually cost to make. Since it was all hand held by the "actors" there wasnt much production budget. I believe it was something like 4000 times what it cost to make. I saw it twice at the movies. The first time by myself because of all the hoopla around it, then i told my husband you HAVE to see this movie and we then went together. That final scene, though!😮😮
An entire genre of movie making was created from this classic film!
in the movie as far as I can remember one of the yokels said that a boy that was kidnapped was made to stand in the corner of the basement.......... and thats why that college kid was filmed in the corner at the end of the movie............... this is the best of 'the found footage' type movies
As a 90's kid. U had to be there. For this to be scary. An it is. Still one of the scariest movies, ever!
The Blair Witch Project
Simply the most successful horror movie of all-time
Cost about $500k. Brought in almost $250,000,000 at the box office
The best example of "Theatre of The Mind"
It only cost $60,000 to make!😁
I was born in Howard County, MD and have lived in the Laurel,MD area most of my life. It's about 45 minutes away from Burkitsville. I was 17 when this movie came out and it was such an experience at the time. It paved the way for found footage movies. Everyone believed this was real even AFTER it was revealed that it wasn't. As always, Great reaction!
I’ve never seen Jay so scared 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I watched this in the theater and one point I went numb from fear !! This was when we all thought it was real !!! Then a couple of weeks later we found out it was fake lol 🤦🏼♀️ awesome marketing from the film makers !!

Sorry everyone but I am completely in the opposite camp. I saw this movie when it came out in theaters and the only reason I didn't walk out was because I had gone with a group of friends and they wanted to continue watching it. I didn't think it was scary at all. About the only scene that even remotely gives me the creeps is the very last scene with the guy in the corner. I did enjoy watching Jay and Amber watch it though mainly because Jay is such a scardy cat.
I agree. I guess we’re in the minority. I didn’t think it was scary at all. I couldn’t believe I sat through the whole thing.
Add me to the list. I didn't think it was scary, I thought it was annoying.
I didn't feel any excitement about it when I saw the previews, but finally gave in because of so many people saying I should watch it. Ugh! Peer pressure! 🙄😄

Mike standing in the corner always gives me chills
I remember when this came out and it was lightening in a bottle! It was wildly successful and made a lot of money. This is probably the most successful found footage movie ever. This movie really was quite a phenomenon. I went to a midnight showing of it and it was a blast!
Love this movie. I love the line at 12.40 when Josh asks the question "Have you ever seen Deliverence?". That's the point where it gets scary because it doesn't matter what's in the woods, whatever it is (eg. people messing with them), it's bad news.
I’d like to suggest Christine and The people under the stairs. Both pretty solid movies, Wes Craven and John Carpenter
Christine!!!! Looooove that movie. The Stephen King book was even better, but this was a rare one that was close to being as good as the book.
Her hysterical screaming at the end, and the dude standing in the corner facing away, are chilling.
The stone rocks built in a circular mound were the first "spell" cast upon the crew, to make them walk in circles. Did you notice the boards boarding up the house and doors on the outside were in the same configurations as the small stick figures?
LMAO, when this movie first came out my mom and her boyfriend and my younger brother saw it in the theatre. My brother reports my moms boyfriend, like a lot of people, thought the footage was real. Till my brother told him it was just a movie, and man was he mad. 😅🤣😂.
Jordan, I saw this when it came out, thought it was real and had horrible PTSD for months afterwards whenever I was out in the woods. Even after finding out it wasn't real footage and all these years later, I still keep my head on a swivel when I'm hiking. If I ever see some crazy stick crap hanging from any trees, I'm out.
So glad you watched this. I hope Rob wasn’t too scared.
This movie was HUGE when it came out. The way they marketed it as real and even had a website were you could listen to the "lost tapes." The movie cost, I think, around 500k to make, and it made 250 million, which is insane. It traumatized me as a kid, though, but it's also what made me fall in love with the idea of "less is more" and leaving the viewers' imagination to wonder. Less is more is something I wish they would do more of in today's movies, shows, games, and books.
Time to take Jay's "man card " and give it to Amber!
This movie pretty much defined the “found footage” trope but even more interesting is how it was shot. The cast were kept from knowing what their fellow cast members had been told to do. For example, if one actor was going to disappear during the night, the others weren’t told to expect it. So they wound up being genuinely upset and bewildered, which makes the performances authentic.
I watched this inside a packed multiplex theater a week after it opened. The movie is an exercise in tension building.
By the time we got to the final minutes
of the movie, we were all so stressed out.
The standing in the corner scene,
gave me chills. It still does!!

@@sandrareed2553 I know they did "The Birds" and Jay talked a lot about how he hated crows.
For me, what was so terrifying about this movie is that even if there was no witch, nothing supernatural, that means there's crazy people out there messing with them while they're lost in the middle of nowhere. That's extremely scary.
It was scariest when it just came out. They released it as if it was real footage just found in the area. The actors all went into hiding and the world was told they were missing and hadn't been seen since this trip when they never came home. It was pretty genius. After we saw it. we took our son camping with the Boy Scouts. My husband put piles of rocks outside our tent and I made a fool of myself screaming when I stepped out of the tent and saw them lol.
Omg! That's classic! 😂 I'm pretty sure I would have reacted the same way!
Saw this movie in theaters opening weekend when I was 17. It was terrifying. We legit thought it really happened.
You NEED to watch "Tucker and Dale vs Evil"
While the docudrama style was unique, the movie fell flat for me. I was in college when it came out and remember people going nuts for it but just didn’t do it for me. Still giving you props for giving it a try.
The final budget of Blair Witch was just short of $750,000 - it made $250 million worldwide. A huge sleeper hit.
The actors did a great job because I saw it on VHS after I already knew it was fake but it STILL scared the Hell out of me! Same as you, Jay. Even on a rewatch with edits it still freaks me out! Especially the last scene.
This was a phenomenon when it came out. Seemed that literally everybody was talking about it. Huge influence yet so cheap to make.
Hope you found some feel good stuff to watch afterwards!
My mother, aunt and sister rented this movie so we could all watch it together. We all got our pillows, blankets, and popcorn. Settled in the living room to watch this movie. We sat there the whole time waiting for something to actually happen and nothing ever happened! We all hated it! lol
This is one where seeing it in the theatre made a huge difference. Sitting there in the dark it was like you were with them.
Sounds like you four have an imagination problem. This movie is genius.
The promotion of this movie before it came out was award worthy. People thought it was actual footage.
This movie was before found footage genre was a thing . This movie was unscripted. Director just gave them 3 locations and told them to get there and record themselves . There also was a website made specifically for this movie and made everything seem even more true
Well, not quite. The directors were actually the ones shaking the tents, playing the weird noises at night, and briefing the actors daily on what they wanted to happen in a scene. And leaving the props for the actors to find and react to.
Then they left it up to the actors to improvise. They would also tell them something would happen on a specific night, and to react, but they didnt tell them what. So the noises and tent shaking etc had more impact. But the vibe between the actors was sadly kind of real-so they used it!
They all did find Heather a little pompous and annoying, and one of the guys was a bit of a slacker. And yes, Heather did really bite him in anger in that scene. They both just lost it a bit!
@@elcorado83 it was them but they weren't told about it
The Exorcist. You can’t beat it. 50 years old and still terrifying.
I still have my "Blair Witch" ticket-stub from 1999 AND I stapled it to the "barf-bag" they handed out to all the audience members because people were getting motion sickness from all the hand-held camera work. I've only seen this movie once but I have a lot of respect for the actors/writers/directors. It captured the imagination of the nation - people at the film festival thought it was a true story. I had a nightmare the cute little "PEPSI" girl from tv commercials was the Blair Witch - crazy milestone in movies - and no, I didn't need to use my barf-bag !! 😄👍
They handed out barfbags when The Exorcist came out too. What a marketing gimmick.
The acting in this movie is so good, because for the most part, they weren't acting. They were given a map (separate from the one they "lost"), and at each location was a box with separate envelopes for each of them telling them what to do. No one knew what the other was doing. When Josh disappeared for example, no one knew he was leaving.
When this movie came out we all were under the assumption that this was real lost footage. Back before internet was at our fingertips. I love the concept of 1st person POV and that it's psychological. That you don't actually see the witch. This is one of my all-time favorite scary movies. I had a basement very similar to the one in the final scene.
Yet part of the scare was the Webpage they put on the Internet. It was well done for the time we.
I graduated hs in 96. You have to keep in mind that cell phones were barely a thing and certainly not smart phones. Leading up to this movie they released a few fake news reports about finding this footage. I knew a lot of people that were unsure if this was real or not going into it. What a great film and A+ marketing.
Great reaction guys! Shot on an original budget of $35,000-60,000, the film had a final cost of $200,000-750,000 and grossed nearly $250 million worldwide, making it one of the most successful independent films of all time.
The year this was released, I was in the 5th grade. I watched it on Halloween. I fell asleep when it wasn't creepy yet and woke up in the dark to them screaming out for Josh in the dark. Freaked me the F out.
Hey Guys! Spooky movie that I remember! I'd suggest, if available, check out 'The Haunting' from 1963, with Julie Harris & Claire Bloom. Older and Only B&W, but without special effects, it's still 'chilling' at times, because of the fundamental way it's filmed. REALLY fundamentally Scary & Spooky. I found and bought the VHS & DVD when available! Recommended!!
Lighten things up on Wednesday with "Zombieland" you need some comedy after this!
When this movie came out I was new to the internet . I came home from the theatre and started searching for the story of the Blaire Witch on line , the producers had done such a convincing job of creating a backstory of online articles that I was totally gaslit!!!
I love this movie so much. I’m so glad I was alive to experience it when it came out and had me convinced it was real.
When I went and saw this in the theater, they had signs at the ticket windows to the effect that watching the film could cause motion sickness. It almost did with me, too. (I used to get car sick a lot as a kid.)
I remember going to see this in theaters, and even then I felt like it was completely fake. Great concept tho, it paved the way for Paranormal Activity , which y’all also my like. Guess Jay says heck no to The Exorcist. 😂
Paranormal Activity might kill Jay
The viral marketing had me convinced it was real at the time
I saw this movie the weekend it opened back in 1999 in nyc. it was a totally sold-out theatre in Chelsea. and during the last 15 minutes-i have never experienced an audience that quiet and that intense. it was another level. and nobody spoke when the credits began. it was amazing.
The marketing for the movie was really cool since the filmmakers made it seem real
The marketing for this movie was GENIUS! It was never really clear whether it was a true story or not. My ex husband was obsessed! Saw it multiple times in the theater.
This film was groundbreaking, there was nothing else like it when it came out. It’s marketing was genius and it deserves to be remembered for that if nothing else.
Some films just get under your skin and Blair Witch is that film for me... That final shot of Mike standing in the corner disturbs me to this day!
As someone whos family always went camping, this was so terrifying when it came out. I was 10 and most of us didn't have easy access to the internet. It was marketed as a true story and alot of us kids absolutely believed it
"Gilligan's Island... My Grandpa used to watch it."
Yeeeeah I don't feel old at all now.
Fingers crossed for “The Graduate”! Such a great soundtrack!!🤘🔥
I have to leave a second comment because I'm laughing too hard. Jordan's instinct to go to sleep during a crisis is something that I never heard anyone say until The Birds reaction. That he said it again hit my funny bone so hard. I can't. 🤣🤣🤣😭🤣🤣🤣
: ) this was fun when it came out because there was a lot of confusion about whether it was real or not, there was an experience around it that can’t be replicated. Can’t wait to watch this when I get off work ❤ crossing my fingers we still get The Exorcist 1973 this year ❤ hey they want a challenge and have said they really haven’t felt scared so…… 😂
I love that they get the horror of it. The unknown and how much a little sound or a sight can absolutely terrorize you. I love in the country with houses far apart from each other... And when I saw this in the theater with my friends in college...we all went in thinking it was real....they had a lot of people fooled and it was the most brilliant marketing campaign I've ever seen. My skin was pure uncooked chicken skin at the end because I've lost my way in the mountains in Arizona....and we have a lake on our property in Michigan where we camp all the time. I think having gone through a similar experience can definitely chill one to the bone. People seem to either love or hate this movie.....I freaking love it and it still gives a chill. You guys do a hell of a job.....God Bless!
Oh wow, I wanted to watch with this with you guys! I know some people think it’s silly, and they lol during, but I was scared out of my mind! Because it was so realistic. I can’t miss this it’s Halloween season! Thank you guys!
🎃 🎃 🎃 PS another oldie along the psychological lines, but a real movie is The Changeling with George C Scott. Outdated a bit but still frightening as hell
I agree. I've wanted to see some reaction channel do The Changeling for a long time. I'm nervous that they won't like it, especially younger people who don't like older movies, but it's been one of my favorites since I was a kid.
