Setting Up New 190 Gallon (720 Liter) Fish Tank

- Short video how i set up my new 190 gallon fish tank. I did order the aquarium 4 months ago and it finally arrived two weeks ago. The tank was meant for my geophagus tapajos red heads. Sadly i've lost all of them when adding new roots to their tank. Now i have no idea what fish i should get. So any ideas are welcome...
#newfishtank #newtanksetup #aquarium
Hey you're back. Looking forward!!!!
thanks! had kind of a bad start with this tank and also setup and will do a complete restart today. still not decided if i go south american with tetras or south esst asian with tiger barbs 😃
Perfect
thanks! 😃
Discus fish are the best choice for this beautiful aquarium good video 🎥
i love discus fish. they are awesome. but i want to reduce water changes and electricity so i will not go with discus for the moment…
Excited
i did change the setup a bit. will do an update video soon 😃
A nice school of silver dollars with your tapajos red heads would look good
i sadly lost all my geos a few weeks ago 🥲 i like the look of silver dollars. i did my research on them and often read that they tend to be skittish 🤷♂️
@@freshwatertanks I have a group of 12 silver dollars and they are fairly large aswell and I've found they tend to do better in dim lighting and larger groups
I always love the simplicity in your tanks!! They're inspiring 😊
thanks a lot. hope the plants will grow as expected. i would love to have the jungle look on the left of the tank!
Wow thats a nice tank mate👍 hope you keep us updated 😎
thanks a lot! 💪 sure i will once the tank is ready 😃
lots and lots of smaller schooling fish! 20 panda corys, black neons and maybe angels? few bolivarian rams? I love the simple layout.
Sorry to hear about your previous fish
corys and black neons sound good! 😃 and thanks a lot! 🙌
Tank looks amazing. Sorry to hear about you fish.
thanks a lot. yes it was really sad and unexpected 😢
Very excited to see how this looks when fully stocked! Perhaps some Theadfin Acara with Geophagus Sveni?? What brand is the new aquarium?
thanks! hmm still thinking about getting cichlids or not. but love the threadfin acaras... they are beautiful.
r.i.p beautifully clean white bathtub lol it looks great so far. not sure what fish to suggest yet. im thinking about it though.
ha ha don‘t worry it‘s clean and white again! 😄
Le rêve ! il est magnifique ce bac !
ahh merci! 😃
Harıka
sagol 😃
Can’t wait to see what’s next!
honestly me too haha. i will take my time for the hopefully right decision :)
@@freshwatertanks as far as what fish to choose. I saw a video of a very simply scaped, very large tank filled with large angel fish. Their elegant schooling behavior could be seen at its best. It was hypnotic.
@@freshwatertanks hee hee. If it was me? I’m a confirmed guppy junky. Can you image a tank that size filled with guppies! 😄. Oh and one grumpy betta to rule them all! 😂
haha. i love guppys too to be honest... 😂
New subscriber here! Good video
thanks a lot! 😃
I cant believe u posted! Great work btw :)
i'm still here and still loving fish :) i just decided to reduce my tanks to this single one... love your account name. sterbais are on my list if i should go with an southamerican tank...
Maşallah reis para bol tabi
😶
Very Nice Scape.
Some pairs of apistogramma, ancystrus sp, 1 or 2 large schooling tetras like rommy nose or serpae!
thanks a lot. yes at the moment i'm favoring a school of tetras, some corys, ancistrus and a pair or harem of apistos... probably that's the way i will go.😃
I think a school of schoutedeni puffers would look fabulous mixed with a school of Congo tetras🥰
ah nice idea. but i don't know why puffers have never been my favorites. but congo tetras are great (had them as a teenager). would be more of an african tank then... 😃
Bolivian Rams, Keyhole Cichilids, Angels. Corydoras or Hoplos.
Or a big group of Pentazona barbs with some Pearl Gourami if you wanted to go for a different theme.
thanks for the ideas. i‘m almost sure that i will start with a group of tetras and than corys next 😃 but still taking my time choosing.
@@freshwatertanks Congos are very popular for something bigger, fancy trying Colombian tetras as some point. Red eye tetras are underrated too. Good luck with the setup 👍🐟
thanks! 😃 red blue colombians were on top of my list but after doing some research i‘ve read that they often get black spots so i‘m not sure anymore! 🤷♂️
Discus, altums, tetars, tapajos
discus.. hmm... still not ruling them out. but i mentioned in another comment that i probably will go with fish who need lower temperatures than discus.. but i did love my discus i had a few years ago. i have a feeling that i would have to reduce the actual setup for them (take out some wood to keep it more simple to make cleaning easier).
Wow will be amazing. 👌👌😍
thanks! i can‘t wait to add new fish 😃
So lieb vielen Dank.
Thanks for sharing. An interesting move might be a U. S. Native tank. Large school of Notropis Chrosomus and several Red-ear Sunfish. Alternatively, the Madagascar Starry Night Cichlid is stunning (Paratilapia pollenii)
i don't know any of them. something to google this evening. thank you!
@@freshwatertanks With the sunfish, you wouldn't require a heater at least.
i have never seen a sunfish in a store here in switzerland. so interesting. it's kind of sad that the aquarium hobby here is not that big as in other countries...
@@freshwatertanks You likely won't see them in a store. In the US for the most part they are locally caught. A lot of people around me eat them.
oh okay 😄
tanks looks great - would be a shame if you give up on Geos... but if you want keep it minimal I would suggest the following: some rare Tetra like Iguanodectes Geisleri, some pairs of Apistogramma like Trifasciata or Elisabethae, some small plecos like L134 or L46 and some Cories like Fowleri or Super Schwartzii - the only thing you would need to add for this setup would be caves. Keep up the great work.
thanks for the nice choices! will definitely read more about them. the bigger problem will be getting rare fish... (except maybe the plecos). regarding the geos. after loosing mine i don't know if i want to keept them again. feels bit wrong at the moment... will see.
Excited for you, the tank looks amazing, love the wood you have chosen. On the subject of what fish, I know you had the geophagus before but what about a different type like the eartheater larger geo as thay are stunning.
Or you could go with a group of clown loach say 7 one of my personal faves. 😊👍
thanks! a group of tiger barbs with 6 clown loaches could be something. just have to decide if i want a tank with lots of action or a mor calm setup... but love both fish...
Danke nochmals
Channan fish or Altum Angelfish .. or schools of Tiger barb
tiger barbs could be great
Very nice setup 😇An update is coming?? 👍
thanks a lot. well the setup is kind of on hold at the moment. the tank needs to be replaced and i just need to wait (takes sooo long). but i had to remove most of the wood as they were stinking horribly. so at the moment i only have one wood in it and some plants. will do a fresh start once the tank is delivered (hopefully in the next weeks). also i will try something else and switch to fine black gravel instead of sand.
Great tank as always! If you want something a little different, you could go with a group of elephant fish, they are very social and it would be interesting to see their behavior in such a big tank. Keep up the good work!
thanks a lot! yes they are really interessting but i will stay with south american fish! 😃
So sorry! Have you ever watched Halfman HalfCichlid he has very beautiful tanks.
thanks! i did have a look at his channel yesterday. he has beautiful geophagus sveni! 🤩
Can you explain more how you lost them? Have the same setup as yourself with 6 Redheads and Tetras. Atb with your new setup.
sure. i should have received the new tank 4 weeks ago. so the delivery date was set and i prepared everything for the move and waited for the tank to be delivered (took all my fish out, prepared ro water and moved the fish to a small aquarium). when the aquarium didn't arrive i called them and they did send me the wrong date (2 weeks later). so i had to fill up the old aquarium back again. i've decided to add the new driftwood as i wanted them out of my bathub. so everything looked fine and the next day all of my fish (including tetras) were dead. the filter was running during the whole process in a separate bucket. so i really don't know. i think its possible that it was maybe lack of oxygen due to the new driftwood? it was a horrible weekend for me... still sad.
@@freshwatertanks Had the same problem with my wood as well, lucky me I added some fish randomly just to help cycle the tank
okay looks like that this can happen. normally i would have said that adding wood will never cause problems but now i know better. i will probably start with one bristlenose pleco in 4 weeks. better than to add more fish at once. thanks for sharing your experience.
@@freshwatertanks Can I ask what food you used to feed both your Geo's and Tetra at same time. Really struggling, Tried Tetra Prima, bug bites the lot and cant get something that they will all eat at same time. Even tried New Life Spectrum 0.5 to 1mm pellets and the stuff doesn't even sink.
i fed them d-allio plus and softline america (size m) both from tropical. and also flakes and frozen brine shrimps…
Would like to see Severums or Oscars or Angelfish this time.
i really love oscars and i‘m sure i will keep one in the future. but i will go with small fish in a big tank this time…
(Uaru fernandezyepezi
uarus are great. but i think they will get to big for this tank?
I think a tank of Bosemani Rainbowfish would look awesome.
rainbows are beautiful fish. but i think i will go with smaller fish. big tank small fish 😃
@@freshwatertanks Are you thinking tetras? A smaller species of tetra would be pretty cool in a massive school. Maybe 1 or 2 dwarf ram cichlids would be cool as a "feature fish". There are also dwarf rainbow fish!
yes i'm almost sure how my setup will look like in the near future. Did add some more plants yesterday. So i will go with a group of tetras, corydoras, a pleco and dwarf cichlids 😃
Forgot to mention mascara barbs very peaceful very colourful and get too about 4inch, we have six at moment 😀
oh they get big! 😃 i never really looked into barbs or fish from southeast asia. except tiger barbs. will look them up but i‘m slmost sure that i will go with south america. just need to wait a little bit with fish as my ph is rather high at the moment.. 🤷♂️
Vielen Dank nochmals!
Altum Skalare wären nice
skalare habe ich irgendwie nie in betracht gezogen. 🤷♂️ vielen dank!
Like always I really love your projects, the tank came out looking fantastic! But I have to say I'm a little bit concerned regarding your wood. I used Azalea wood from JBL in my 700 liter tank and after eight months I had to get it out. It started decomposing. Hope this will not be the case here. Best regards!!!
thanks a lot. oh no hope i won't have this problem. would be sad as i do like the look of it...
You are not the only one, I have heard several stories where the wood started rotting and smelling... It was the first thing that came into my mind when I saw the wood in the video...
I strongly suggest you look into it before it's too late...
thanks for letting me know. will look at it
hi there! you were right! i had to take 3 big pieces out of the tank. i wanted to move one piece and took it out and it smelled horrible! same with the other two. so only one small piece is now in the tank. will have to start over 😶 so i will go with just the small piece, rocks and plants. so no wood no south american tank for me. now looking into a south east asian setup! but at least no fish were in the tank…
Discusfisch wilds
i thought about discus but decided against them. also i had to rescape the tank as the driftwood was horribly stinking ☹️ my main reason against discus was heating the tank to 28-30c° and i wanted an easy tank this time… tank is now running for more than 2 months. will upload a video once plants have grown to their final size 😃
Wow amazing set up , may I ask please where did you order the wood roots from ? Maybe a link or so .. thanks a lot
thanks a lot. i bought them from a local aquarium store here in switzerland.
@@freshwatertanks do they please have also internet sale ? Cause this type of wood is hard to come by in my area .. , thank you so much !
normally stores here do not sell wood online. some do but they show just a generic picture and you never know what you will get. also sending big wood pieces from switzerland to another country would probably cost more than the wood itself because you also need to pay customs. so i would not recommend it 😃
When Will u post :((
Im waiting for 6 months
i know it has been a while. i‘m editing one at the moment. 100 day transformation of my tank. had to film it with my phone though 🤷♂️
Where are your geophagus? I liked them
i‘ve lost them all after adding new driftwood 😢
@@freshwatertanks omg, that's sad! Driftwood? How this is possible?
i really don‘t know. maybe lack of oxygen… but i‘m not sure
Where did u order the aquarium from?
Fish stock wise I would definitely go with electric blue acara, firemouth cichlid, and etc.
it was custom made here in switzerland. electric blue acaras are beautiful! :)
@@freshwatertanks what kind of wood is that?
it was sold as dragon skin wood
Lg Sven
Hallo Sven.
danke!
Sooooooo? How’s the new tank?
it‘s doing great. but i did change the setup and removed almost all wood and changed to black gravel 😃
Name of the wood?
it‘s called dragon wood.
what happen whit this tank my friend?
it‘s still work in progress! 😬
What happened to the geos
i sadly lost all of them. including my tetras... after adding new driftwood to their tank... :(
Any updates?
i‘m taking videos of the progress. hopefully soon i will upload a transformation video. i‘m just waiting for the plants to grow bigger so my tank doesn‘t look too empty 😄 btw i did start from scratch again due to some issues with the wood and also the tank. so it looks different now…
Nice...Im waiting for the update.😊
Poor fishes 😢.
New fishes :
Pterophyllum scalare Rio Nanay
Pterophyllum altum
Wild discus
Betta macrostoma
Killifish
Rainbow fish
yes it was really sad seeing them all dead. 😢 but i can't change it. and thanks for the nice choices. already the second person with the angel fish. will do my research. thanks
Where are the geos?!
sadly lost all of them (and also the tetras) 😢
@@freshwatertanks omg sorry for the loss, what happened?!
i still don't really know. i did add new driftwood to their tank and when i woke up the next morning all of them were dead 😢 i'm not sure if it was because of lack of oxygen...
@@freshwatertanks that’s really unfortunate, they were beautiful, I’m starting the same tank/journey next week! Wish me luck
thanks! awesome. are you planning to get geos?
