Im not sure of many other bands where you can run through the entire discography and not find a single sub-par/filler song, Opeth is just a never-ending gold mine
@@futurebreedmachine9302 YESS, it was supposed to be the delayed In Cauda Venenum tour but they played the older stuff too because it was their first time playing here in croatia!!! sadly they didn’t play anything from orchid or morningrise but they did play demon of the fall!!!!
I understand why people doesn´t like the growls in general....but Mikael´s growls are something else....unique...addictive....one of the few vocalist that you understand what he is growling....every time I hear Mikael´s growls, goosebumps arise immediatly
I absolutely love the first three albums, but “Still Life” is the first one that seemed all buttoned up and perfectly, perfectly put together. It is so full & thick & lush that I don’t think you could add anything or take anything away from it to make it better(.) Boundless is a great word to describe Mikael & OPETH. I’m not sure there is anything he/they couldn’t do and then do it so damn well. And, Lauren, I’m excited to hear you coming around on The Demon, I had no doubts it would come. Oh, and one more thing….Mocha rules! 🤟🏼🐈⬛
Such a cool comment. In the end it seems to be that some of the followers/ commenters are right with saying " you get used to the growling with Opeth". And that's true. It's the growling that makes the whole picture seem right with Opeth. Also I was thriller to see that you choose Moonlapse Vertigo above the winner because It's my favourite right now. But with Opeth the favourite song can change every day. I love Opeth and I love your comment. Hugs again 🥰
"The long one, with all the guitar stuff" - pretty much 60% of all of opeth's discography could fit this description 😅. Another great reaction! Keep it up
Hey there you demon lover ;) The reason why you felt that this song started you in the middle of something is because it did. It's 4th song on a concept album, and the lyrics you were reading also relates to stuff that happened earlier in the story. It's kinda too late to do a continious listen-through, but I suggest that you do so at some point, when you are done uploading the songs you want from this album, sit down and listen all the way through in a single go. It just elevates the experience :)
@@MusicCatsandCoffee Highly recommend it. My Arms Your Hearse, Still Life and Ghost Reveries all are concept albums. After you are done reacting to every songs on these albums, listen to the albums in their entirety.
Great reaction to one of their best songs. I'm glad you got to it. I can't believe we have wait a month for your next Katatonia song..... Onward into Battle :)
This is the first Opeth album I ever purchased. From here I went forward and then backward to their first albums. I've noticed that they get more "mellow" from the first to the last. Every single song is Top Notch. Love your show, Lady L. 🤘😎🤘
Perhaps my favorite Opeth intro of their entire discography, the groovy ass rhythm guitar that kicks off the song is so good and the lead melodies over it are just gorgeous, then we get to that section that you said sounded familIar, you’ve heard it before m, but not on this album So if you remember “The Drapery Falls”, during the initial clean singing section Mikael sings “pull me down again and guide me into pain” that part repeats a little later in the song but the second time he doesn’t say pull me into pain, he says pull me into ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ahaaaaha” and it’s that ah vocal melody that the guitars are playing here in this song. Of course this album preceded Blackwater Park so in Drapery Falls Mikael was stealing from himself and his previous album lol
Opeth is the perfect band for me. They speak to my soul the way no other band has. I can even listen to their newer music and feel the same way. It's hard to describe.
Just rewatching some of your Opeth´s videos, and the moment in this reaction when you cross that treshold and finally "get" the demon is pure bliss, but I think everyone of us knew deep inside that one day you were going to fell for the demon spell.
I've been telling Lauren to listen to Black Rose Immortal so many times.....but I don´t know if she wants to do a 20 minute song....it's a lot of work to edit the video....but if she doesn´t do that one, i will be very pleased if she react to The Night and The Silent Water.... I believe it´s due time for her to do a song from Morningrise. I guess we have to be patient....
Sounds like Serenity Painted Death or The Moor? Cause this is from the same album! xD Love the reactions! Please keep them coming, demon or no demon. ^^
Oh Lauren... you are indeed epic too! I think it's a great idea to go back and listen to the first one where you heard the 'demon'. I'd really like to know you're thoughts on it now. 'Opic' is perfect to replace epic for Opeth. Don't give up on that one. 😉
You are right about the slight difference in demon vocals in this one, its more of an raged person because of loss of loved one, rather than haunting demon vocal as in baying of the hounds.
I'm glad you put Mocha growling at the end of the blooper reel. I thought that was a hilarious moment when Mikael first came in with the growls in the actual listening. I think Mocha didn't do that by accident. :)
If you have to go back to see if the "transformation is complete"....I have news for you.....the transformation is complete. Queue the trumpets, we're all glad you finally see it our way :)
Lol at Opic. Cool to see you embrace the demon, even if only a little bit. I think it takes most people a while to get into harsh vocals, but once you do it really adds another dynamic layer to the music. I'm still recommending Jinjer for you. The bass player Eugene is a big Opeth fan too. Vortex is a good song to go with, but you can't really go wrong with anything from them.
Let me start by saying that your hair looks really nice. Next order of business, you need to do new Opeth, Width of a Circle and old Opeth, Master's Apprentices. Enjoy!
I love all Opeth, but 'Moonlapse Vertigo' is far more epic than 'The Grand Conjuration' (vote winner). I love the outro of this song, the outro riff is truly majestic! You probably figured it out but this song/album was recorded way before 'Ghost Reveries' (baying of the hounds) and 'Watershed' (burden) and since 'Still Life' is a concept album the lyrics of individual songs might make less sense as they're just part of a whole story.
We’re watching someone slowly become a metal head and it’s great. For more varied vocals, I’d like to recommend checking out Boleskine House by Triptykon.
I'm gonna be the asshole and say that your cat being fed earlier than scheduled is worth having a full focus on the song and your audience. I have come back to this reaction for the third time because I have an Opeth problem and every time I have felt tingles in my heart... not about your cat's interruption but your inability to maintain focus with the interruption. It's your channel and your own thing but hey...
Correction! I was right the first time. Watershed was definitely after this one. :)
One of these days, I'll get it right.
Can you try System Of A Down next? I think you would like a lot of their material. I want to see you react to some other bands.
This whole masterpiece is a concept album, hope you someday listen from start to finish, great reaction as usual!!
Im not sure of many other bands where you can run through the entire discography and not find a single sub-par/filler song, Opeth is just a never-ending gold mine
Porcupine Tree is one of those bands, no matter the song you are going to get a wonderful experience
@@sebaxextremo Lollll yeah that was the other band I had in mind, I've been waiting for someone to ask her to react to them. When Anesthetize? 😅
System Of A Down
Be'lakor is the one you need 🥰 no bad songs 😉
So true
OPETH!!!!! I just saw them live 4 days ago and they absolutely killed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did they perform any songs from their first 4 albums ?

THE TRANSFORMATION IS COMPLETE MWUHAHAHA
I have warmed up to the demon, a lot, thanks to you. I think Mocha was trying to keep you safe from the demon. Lol : ) Have a nice weekend!
Love how you caught that sweet drum lick at the very end of the song by Martin Lopez!!! I love when drummer's add a little extra at the end

Yes sir. You read and obviously live music 👍
Loved the video! Yes both Martin's are killing it. In the OG Martins we trust
When it comes to entertainment (and that's what reaction videos are mainly for, right?) for Opeth fans, you're in a league of your own! ❤
Opeth is the perfect band for me. They speak to my soul the way no other band has. I can even listen to their newer music and feel the same way. It's hard to describe.
The melody in the beginning that you realize seem familiar, is similar with "aaaaaaaa" from The Drapery Falls
Wow, that's a full throated Demon/Cookie Monster for sure!!
That harmony at the end..... and get ready for the most Demony Demon in The Grand Conjuration!!
Let's not give away any spoilers about the song :D

Honestly, I am not sure she would like it. A lot of Opeth fans do not like that song in particular.
Yes me
Lauren "I'm trying to read"
Mocha "I'm trying NOT to starve to death!"
The thing about Opeth albums is, they tell a story.... from the first track to last, they are all part of a story
You heard it in "The Drapery Falls"
This was the song that got me back into harsh vocals after many years of avoiding them.

This fades perfectly into Face of Melinda
The cat is just trying to clean the camera lens with it's tail... 😬
Might I suggest checking out Ihsahn? One of his songs, Unhealer, has Mikael Akerfeldt as guest vocals.
