  • "It's not rubbish. I saw it and I believe in it."
BBC Panorama reports on alleged Nessie sightings, as well as an ongoing loch-wide search for the elusive beast.
The hunt for the Loch Ness monster, involving a team of volunteers and army-hired search lights is led by David James, a British Member of Parliament.
Reporter Jameson Clark also hears from local eyewitnesses, who claim to have seen Nessie for themselves.
"The evidence, as you've heard, varies. Sometimes one hump, sometimes two, sometimes three."
"It's been seen all over Loch Ness, from Port Augustus to Castle Urquhart."
Clip taken from Panorama, originally broadcast on BBC Television, 13 June, 1960.

I saw it one bright morning. It had a tartan bunnet on with a cigarette hanging out it's mouth.

It was in a car crash and had to be taken to hospital in 1972. Was released two weeks later and now drives a taxi.

I saw it once. It was climbing a tree outside my window, hanging from its tail. Seemed to be showing off a bit.

I saw it too, but down south where I live. It had a long neck like a swan, with the body and head of a swan. It was living on top of a lake, swimming around with a swan. Definitely Nessie though.

The next year, a comedy film, 'What A Whopper' was released - written by Terry Nation, it starred Adam Faith. Fyfe Robertson reports from Loch Ness for the BBC - only to be called "Mr.Michelmore" by Sid James!

Wasn't that famous photo of Nessie speculated to be an elephant from a nearby circus swimming around with its trunk out of the water. If you look at it with this in mind, you can make out that its a trunk and part of the head poking out from the water.

Most likely a small model of some kind. If you look at the surrounding waves, they'd have to be 20ft high to correspond with a large animal.
