In Igboland there's a great difference between paying dowry and wine carrying. It is after the wine carrying they will do the church wedding and some will go as far as court marriage. Family doesn't have the right to tell a man marrying your daughter where he should do his wedding. They should dictate on the man where they want their traditional marriage take place and not the church marriage. In a situation where the man does or traditional marriage and they hand his wife and years later they want to do civil and church marriage, will the parents come to tell the man where to do it? Answer is NO. But the problem is that the man accepted the conditions. He would not have accepted initially.
