Ashley, as a mama of 2 now and married for 13 years, one of the things I would have loved to have done before having children is to minimize my belongings. After having children I was so tired and then all the new belongings babies bring made things so hard to get a handle on. My oldest is 8 and I feel like I am always trying to get my ducks in a row! Just a word of wisdom from someone a bit ahead down the road. I know you didn’t ask, just popped in my mind and wanted to share this insight. 💗 beautiful home!!!!

This is EXACTLY the kind of first home I would love. I’m in love with the charm and how you’ve made the space so homey. I don’t think I could ever sell my electrician husband on an old home unfortunately, but I’ll live through you and I’ll practice contentment because we are so blessed for an affordable rental even if it isn’t my style.
Have you thought about planting trees and shrubs? Almost every window looks out onto another house. Would be great for more privacy! Other than the property & homes being so close, the house is a beauty inside!

Hi Ashley! Thank you for the home 🏡 tour. I really like your kitchen cabinets. When sun shines on them it brings out the warm brownish gold color. Very pretty. I have downsized into a small apartment. Things I miss most is my washer & dryer and dishwasher. But I thank GOD I can stand on my feet and do dishes. I too like the wood around the doors, very pretty. The walk-in closet in your office I really like. Have you thought about adding shelving to part of the closet? I like behind the back door in the Kitchen is a place for coats and shoes. Your home is warm and inviting with lots of charm. I have noticed it seems exactly what you were needing to break your chains of depression. After I moved out of my parents house, I have always lived in a apartment. I have noticed my mental health was better the more windows I had in my apartment, the more sunlight that came through the windows, the happier I was. I really like the midwestern feel in the living room and dining, room I went to Utah and Arizona this summer and loved it, I’m trying to incorporate some things like that in my space.

Your home is so lovely. I love antique homes cause there just something about them. It has history. Stories that happened of love, fun times, and generations that grew up there. People who lived through all the events since it was first made experience them there and I love it. Not saying that I disliked new houses, cause history will be made there too, but I am a lover of the 1800s and early 1900s so to know that people that lived through that era lived in my home it's cool. Thanks for sharing your home with us, Ashley. The garden and hardwood floors are beautiful. I like the southwestern mid-century modern feel as well. In the bathroom/laundry room turning one of the closet/storage space into the area for the washer and dryer and then using that whole back wall area for a huge walk-in shower would be nice. Giving the two areas a bit of separation but also keeping them close. I think your doing a wonderful job and I look forward to seeing how everything goes turns out.

Hahaha... Yeah, mortgages... But!! One day, God willing, it'll be paid off!! Learn as much as you can do fix stuff yourself, but for major plumbing and gas lines, please call a professional!! Try not to stress over everything that needs to be done also... Ask God to help you get stuff done/fixed! Love your home!! Favorite part is the stairs!! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go into my (your) studio early in the morning and write, then come downstairs with my coffee and watch the sunrise.... 😊

We decided to make our bedroom on the main floor because the only full bathroom is on the main floor :) It works better too because the laundry is down here! Thank you so much for your ideas!!!!

We decided to make our bedroom on the main floor because the only full bathroom is on the main floor :) It works better too because the laundry is down here! Thank you so much for your ideas!!!!
