The CHEAPEST Engine Drive Welder

- #stickwelding #welding #welder I bought the cheapest engine drive welder!
Here’s the link to it- amzn.to/40jQwlS
For only $1000 how could I go wrong? Have it the hardest test I could think of and set out to weld a 1” deep crack in a excavator bucket. Can it weld it? You’ll have to watch and see. I tested it with every welding rod I would normally use “7018, 6010 and 6011. We test the power outlets with my high amp grinders to see if they hold up!
Here’s some other welders tools I used -
3m respirator- amzn.to/3JrqcPO
Black stallion welding gloves- amzn.to/3YZGTrh
Bocomal welding jacket- amzn.to/3Trbz3y
Hobart welding helmet- amzn.to/3lhUJaY
got that exact welder at TSC it listed for $1300 marked down to 850.00 so when she scanned it , it said $480.00 close out, brand new in the box, i have 3 migs and 1 tig and this gas powererd i have used in the field for
about 2yrs. on various jobs, the last was around 8 hrs of welding and only used about a 1/1/2 gallons of gas all day very happy with this machine...
You stole that.
480! Wow
The Vulcan outlaw from harbor freight is a great deal. Been working almost every day without a hitch for a year. Great machine!!
Right on
Lincoln knock off. Wiring is not as good
@@wcmwfab935 it doesn’t matter what it knocks off or if the wirings isn’t as good. All that matters is that mother fuckers running.
@@MeltinMetalAnthony Shut up >:(.
That’s my welder I just ordered . Had a short hood 200 , downsized , needed something that can do multi process such as letting me weld mig off the generator , Running Chop saws and stuff as well as stick weld. The outlaw 195 is very underrated !
We have used the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!
Someone else already answered but yeah that weird plug should have a matching socket on the side of the machine so you can charge 12V batteries. They make it that shape so you can't accidentally plug it into a normal 120V socket.
Bingo. I have that with a set of jumper cables for 2 of my small gens. Jumped my pickup a couple of times. It's a must have and HF used to have it on their small gens and included a set of jumper cables
I run one all day at the job site, good on gas. Welds 7018 really good. Got a 50 (stinger) and 45 (ground) leads on it. I really like it. God is great.
*engineers
Nice find for those that do not have one of the tool outlets near them. The starter and wheel kit add good value to the package.
Just found your channel! I ordered this machine a few days ago and it already arrived.
My profession now is wildland firefighting, but one of the heavy equipment guys broke the grapple on their logging forwarder on a fire in Cali so my captain volunteered me into fixing it up, so I fixed it for them with a HF welder hooked into a HF generator, and I swore I'll never be caught in that situation ever again, it was infuriating but somehow it worked...
I'm excited to put this guy to work, I would be willing to get back into welding and out of fire again if all things go well.
Business expenses tax write off
I absolutely love your content. You've seriously boosted my confidence in starting my own business.
Great to hear!
Do it
That's not bad at all. I had an old Weldanpower engine driven welder that had to have been 50 years old. Worked like a champ
Dude me too, literally just sold it last week for 2 grand more than I paid 5 years ago lol
Looks like a good deal as a backup or occasional use machine. It'll be interesting to see how it holds up long term. That would be my only concern.
Man, you’re always keeping it real. That outro cracked me up! Keep up the good work
Thanks! Will do!
Hey Anthony, Jose from Puerto Rico. Nice job man! I got a generator I bought years ago for 600 bucks. I'm gonna give it a shot and see what happens. Furthermore, I've been subscribed to your channel for quite some time and I haven't commented lately, but this video caught my eye. This is something I can probably do too.
Bro. I look forward to your videos. Pure education, and entertainment. Keep up the good work. 💪🏼
Great machine for the money and a real winner for small repair jobs. A word of advice on small Chinese engines, do a few oil flushes as it runs in. They are known for shavings from manufacturing being left behind. Use exactly the grade recommended as they are splash fed. Often a straight 30 weight is called for.
A bit of care and you have a fantastic backup machine or a small odd job machine you can cart in the trunk of your family car, pays for itself the first welding job you do!
The last line kills me and is why I love this dudes content 😂
That odd plug is for the 12 volt out.
You can charge batteries with this.
See if it has an option to manually set the throttle.
Right now it sounds like it is in fuel saver mode where it adjusts the RPMs to match output.
That is why it take it a second to come up to full power.
My generator will let you turn that off and manually set the throttle.
If you can do that on this I think you will like it more.
I found the manual on line.
It doesn't say anything about a manual throttle.
I guess you will have to live with that slight hesitation at the start.
If you are starting out on a budget you are probably better off to just buy a 220 Volt generator and a 220 Volt welder.
That is pretty much always cheaper than buying a generator with a welder built in.
hey man would you recommend the harbor freight predator 9500 quiet inverter generator and say a lincoln tombstone stick welder?
I love the sign off man. "If you didnt like it, GFY" I look forward to that every time
Lol
Flat out won me over the last minute I subscribed right then
That plug is for charging a 12v battery. It is not an automatic shut off it can over charge a battery if left unattended. But looks like a decent unit.
*Hands down, you have the best **_Like & Subscribe_** tagline on YT.*
🤣
Can you see what the generator side will do ? Try to run a ,110 mig welder off it. Maybe even a 220 mig welder
I'm new to the channel, I like your attitude and your realistic way of speaking, feels like I'm right there with you in person and your not worried about a camera watching you because of what squirmy little bitches might say, you have more than earned my subscription, thank you Sir.
Glad to read a comment from a real MF thanks for the sub!
The best welder is the one you got. I can make shit stick together but I’m by no means a professional welder and that thing would be perfect for the Probly 25 times a year I’d use it
Thank you, Im going to be buying a small engine drive to put on an f150. In this category I've been looking at the Vulcan outlaw, Esab Ruffian, Tomahawk 210, and I keep coming back to this as well maybe. I think im going to go with the Tomahawk as it is advertised to work with 6010 comes with leads and tig torch but its nice to know I can make this one work if I want to spend a little more on the air comp for the rig setup.
Tomahawk runs 6010 finer adjustments and has idle control, Ruffian can kind of brother in-law you can run near highest amps and still run a small mig welder if you want someone tacking and assembling while someone welds up. The Vulcan less features but better price more amps than Esab if you or anyone has any experience that would help please let me know, would help the final setup for this little shotgun truck.
I wish Everlast made an engine drive welder that ran 250amp AC/DC 60%+ duty cycle to compete with red and blue
I just bought one of these for a backup , it’s not a Miller bay any means but it’s a welder when you need one!
hook a clamp meter up to the work lead and see how many amps that thing will actually run at max. That would be a good test to run.
Maybe I’ll bring it to John and bank test it
the ending is the best 12:57
Love the outro brother! Fuck the haters. Your not a fuckin entertainer or actor or some shit, the people can take it or leave it for what it is; genuine quality content
Dude, your videos make me laugh more consistently than anything else on youtube.
Love your channel Anthony and how pragmatic you ate, When the
miller trailblazer isn't available, this works. It's all about prep on multi pass.

i seen those in a facebook ad, they are trying to sell those for $5800 plus taxes... so i got a $50 broken 7000watt dewalt generator a 3.08 8.8 ford differential and a 4.6 V8 triton engine, 75hz would be 1500rpm "9000watt". weld up a 3 bolt flange that bolts to the crack shaft pully and a recycled steering shaft joint that slips over it. 2000rpm on the engine would be 100hz on the generator 1.7X output braker tripping. $50 PTO welder... 50amp to run 5/32 rod, 90amp to run 3/16 rod, sputtering minimum throughput that comes out clean... 12000watt at 100hz... 408 volts.
Finally, I've been looking for a review or anything on these and never found anything, and now my favorite UA-camr got the exact one I was looking at for Backup cause I have a low hours weldanpower 225
Glad I could help!
I like your closing statement its dope. Well put. Bsafe dude
So I was taken aback by the profanity, but when I saw the welds, I was like "fuck yeah, this guy's fuckin legit!" I fuckin subscribed! Hahahaha. Awesome review bro! 😂👊🏼
I just took a week welding course, it is a badass welding setup. They have every machine you can think of. The fact of the matter, even with very expensive machines, Allot of the guys weren't that good at welding. Just a matter of your skill. You can have a torch in the forest to start a fire, but some guys just need 2 sticks.
The plug / alligator clips charges your lead acid battery that's included with the unit.
I couldn't pass up a Honda 140 welder generator, cost about the same, used vintage but pretty clean.
Some cheap machines don't burn 6010 rods, but 6011 will usually work. Both rods are very similar.
The weird chinese plug thing is a 12v battery charger
You confirmed I'm going to school for welding. Great review keep it up sir.
The funky two prong plug with alligator clamps is for charging an external battery like a car or something like that. Can't jump start but just a nice little extra.
What’s your little grinder that you’re using to knock the slag off? Seems handy
Would you consider this a good welder for semi trailer work
Sure why not
The plug is for a 12volt battery charger, built in. Had a small Coleman gen, with one years ago.
That machine worked it out once you got your heat settings...👍🤔🎯🔥 Nice deal for a backup.,..💎
You should do a bare bones or “budget” series on everything you need to start your own business and do jobs with it
Good idea
the plug is for 12 volts at 1:48...my Yamaha Gen. from 1988 had one
I had a Lincoln weldnpower 125. I could put it in the bed of my truck by myself, Couldn't do that with my ranger or sa300. Really the only "better" routes I can think of for low budget would be buying a omnipro 220 from harbor freight then 9kw generator. It would cost 3-4 times as much but it's scaleable and would give 10x the versatility.
Looks like it did great. I just can’t stand the noise of that type of machine. The purr of my old SA200 is much more relaxing.
Yup I’m a new home hobby welder just getting into the welding world🤙🤙
Did ya have much issue fitting the leads? & what plate thickness could you weld with it pls ? Looked like u almost had it wound right out. Just asking cos I'm looking for a good cheap machine at the moment. Great video 👍
I got one of the harbor freight Vulcans I love that machine.
don't show up for X-ray work with this, but fixing beauty stuff, this would do the job.
Maybe I should see if it could. That’d break some hearts if it could
I like your attitude Sir , great way to deal with the troll :)
I'd like a little more power, say, 5000 watts but it does the job. Nice to see an actual job with a welder not just tacking some angle iron. For the money it looks like a perfect weekend warrior or backup rig
Looks like a great deal.
I have the same machine in the back of my service van.....I rarely ever use it but when I do it works well enough once you guess the amperage......
NLA on amazon, and the co website doesnt have it listed. maybe there were some problems with it -?
How do you keep your hands on the rod my rods gets hot and burn me a little bit through my Tig gloves do mig gloves really make that big of a difference and I use the Harbor freight Titanium 140 multi process welder and my stick welder only goes to 75 Amps
There are so many brand snobs out there. I started off with a Northern tool brand mig welder. I used it for 3 years, until l dropped it 13 ft onto concrete (no welder would survive that).
I believe it's 12vdc external battery charger plug.
Hey! Anthony how you doing bro? Let me start with saying that you are a outstanding worker and person,I like the fact that you give welding tips, tricks and advice also a big morale speech about good and bad time been a independent welder and worker a real entrepreneur bro keep it up,keep doing real and bad ass content at the field that’s where the real challenge is at not in a welding shop or production welding facility, lone wolf bro outstanding work 👍🏻100%
Good to see you back
Hay man I no your the guy who could answer this if I'm looking at a Lincoln Sam 400 for a really good deal but he says it needs the ignition points change to run is it worth the chance
Depends on price. I wouldn’t pay over $1000 without it running in case he’s wrong
Hell yeah he wants 700 but I thought asking would do 5 hell u think it's a risk doing it if I ain't got jobs lined up I mostly do handyman work but I've done some welding jobs just with my handy dany flux 125 I love that thang
Plugs for the 12 V output
Zinnore 130amp welder generator is $535 be cool to see a review of it
This machine is good for thick metal only!! You won’t be able to weld on thin metal! I bought this machine about a year and a half, mainly used it as generator to power a smaller machine
Always love the outros. Perfections
Glad you like them!
My new favorite channel by far keep it up brother when can we see you review that harbor freight engine drive? There is only a few videos out there and they sent the most in-depth shit might get some views
Didn’t buy that one maybe one day
Proof that you can get out there on a minimal budget and make some money as long as you have some ability and determination.
What’s the duty cycle?
That weird plug with alligator clips on it is usually a 12v out put for charging car batteries and shit. We’ll should be anyway
Awesome video. Is there any chance you could tell me your model respirator? I like the way you can make it easily fall with hood on and can’t seem to find anything like it
I use the 3m quick latch can’t recall filter number
Perfect outro
the goofy plug is likely DC output to charge 12V stuff with the two clamps
Anthony, put your work lead over on the flange you are welding on.....
less resistance, will help you a lot.....cheers, Paulie
Good idea
Love the ending 💯👍🙌💪
I guess an amp clamp could be useful if you are unsure just strike up an arc on some scrap and see where it is but I mean the number isn't the end all
What brand grinder is that?
Hell of a video 👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽🫡
Great video as usual mate.
We need to see more Reno work to your house
That's a Philippine power point plug. I've studied electrical in the Philippines.
12 volt charging leads is wha that weird plug is
Cool video man. It informed me more about this generator. I wanted to ask you your pro opinion on which generator you would recommend to pair with my Lincoln ac/dc tombstone stock welder to use out on the field/ ranch? I was considering the Cummins 9500df but not sure if it’s a good choice. That model is made in Vietnam but would rather get a USA made one. Any recommendations for USA generators or a decent one made overseas? Thank you & have a great day
I like this guy 😂
That funny plug is for charging 12v battery’s, plugs into the welder.
The old-timer that taught me to weld told me your remote is in your wrist you can change the voltage and amps by how close or far away you are your Electro tip to work peace distance determines whether you're using More Voltage for more amperage closer more amps farther away more voltage small machine like that in the hands of a professional will work just like any other machine the only question I have is how much open circuit voltage is that machine have that determines what it can burn for example your Lincoln should say it has 70 or 80 open circuit voltage
Great video Anthony, welds look clean.
Thanks 👍
Sure looks like it welds nice.....you ain't too shabby of a welder either! LOL Those cord ends are for people who want it more as a generator than a welder. If I can suggest one thing, turn the fuel valve off and run it till it quits to use up all the gas in the carb. The ethanol in fuel today will kill it. If you can find ethanol free gas, it is worth it to use it. The welding lead ends are like Miller used to use on their small welders. I have an old thunderbolt that had them. I just bought the DINSE style panel connectors off Amazon to allow me to use my regular leads.
I like the harbor freight outlaw 190 ... it's 1700
Great video! Nice work. Looks good.
I like the review and how you address the negativity. hahaha
What is the Respirator for your outside

The channel should be called meltin fuckin metal Anthony
12 volt battey charger plug
I have the duromax 16hp engine(same) and i have it set up with belts driving a mecca alta italian head unit at 8000watts.. i use to power a 1970’s 60amp craftsman welder at half poweri built my madmax generator in 2012.. only issues is the fuel drain cock gets plugged up with gas tank trash Starter went out in 2020..only use ethanol free gas will save you alot of headaches..
Nice but for the price it might be deal with able
yes this is the better deal…
Are you back in Florida?
A good welder can make a decent bead with AAA batteries 👌🏻
💯
Awesome dude! You DA MAN!
Thanks! You too!
Nice little welding machine that could. 1/8 6010/7018 job sounded like it was right at the edge of the comfort zone for that engine. Not too many hobby welders need more heat than that. Sure it didn't sound as stable as bigger engine units or buzz boxes but that just makes you a better welder. Nothing like having some wind to blow your arc around too. I could totally see some guys getting these just to make their wives quit complaining about their hobby causing high electric bills.
Lmao right
