Honestly Krist is annoying in every interview lol. It's kinda just his thing to troll them, not sure if it was the alcohol or what I never really thought much of it. Dave however was usually pretty quiet due to Kurt and mostly Krist taking up all of the oxygen. This is just what I've seen from interviews obviously, I've never met a single member. Edit: also noted that Kurt had a problem with male interviewers but was nice to female interviewers from what I've seen/heard. Not defending his actions just thought it was important to state that.
The way nard was able to steer the conversation to something Kris would be interested in and put him in a better light than just spouting nonsense was pretty masterful
Back then they were all drunk, banged on heroin and god knows what else. He was entering a jungle where his purpose was to try and get any kinda sentence out of them.

My feeling watching a lot of these interviews is people start off thinking Nardwuar is a bit of a joke but then they start to realize that this guy really knows what he's talking about and warm up to him. He even got Courtney Love to say "how do you know that?" way back in '94.
I can attest to you youngsters, that pizza indeed was different and on a different level in the year 1994. It isn't the same anymore, the preparing methods and trends have changed.

My mom waitressed for Krist and Dave Grohl way back then and she said Krist was disgusting and thought everyone cared that he was famous even tho nobody knew who he was lol. Both my parents & my sister have met Dave Grohl and said he was a nice, regular person though!
I've watched enough Nirvana interviews by now to say it's probably his weird sense of humor that made him come across that way & made people think they could unfairly judge him after a few interactions with him. 75% of the interviews he's saying something obnoxious to make you think or be the light. Seems to me he's trying 2 stop those around him from taking everything so damn seriously. But think whatever you want.

IF Narduar wants an interview, Narduar gets an interview, because its not really Narduar you are dealing with, you are dealing with 'his people', the people who back him and who he represents, and they are powerful people, its all part of the game. Narduar's job is to interview you and to 'spook you' with what he's managed, somehow , to know about you (hint: everything) . all part of the checks and balances game, celebrities are put in their place and kept there

A lot of celebrity deaths are faked for various reasons, often the problem is that the celeb wants to get off drugs but cannot handle the pressure of fame without drugs, so the powers that be arrange for them to quietly start a new life somewhere else without the nosy authorities tracking them to all corners of the earth. Their 'deaths' are faked, all sorts of contracts and cash are generated on the news, and everyone is happy. The 'dead' celebrity gets a whole glut o money and a new life, plus all the publishers make their pile on the royalty circus to follow their 'untimely death' . It is far more profitable to 'die' than to to simply retire.

Gustavo Escobedo well for one, thats how we are supposed to eat, we are supposed to chew until our food is salivated, thus when you chew more and take bite size pieces of food in your mouth, you enjoy it more and you dont gain as much weight so fast, instead of just gobbling it down and taking enormous bites. Listen to the Nardwuar behind the scene commentary of this episode - he says the band gave him and his cameraman all-access back stage passes for another show in Seattle the next day too but he had a prior commitment and couldn’t go. Why would they give him more all access passes after this interview finished and encourage him to come to another show if they hated him or were annoyed by him? They probably liked him and that’s why they felt comfortable taking the piss outta his questions. Lighten up ppl.
I’m floored. I’ve never seen Kurt like this, he seems exhausted and strung out. Totally on top of things, intelligent and super sensitive but exhausted.

My dad used to roadie for Nirvana during the In Utero tour. He said Kurt was cool but you'd have to know him awhile to get his sense of humor. Kris was a jerk though and Dave was nice. He actually met my mom on the road and had me shortly after.
From what I can tell it looks like Kurt is doing his best to but everyone around him keeps interrupting everything. They aren't added to the interview, they just don't even understand that 20 years from now, their attitude will be talked about on a website that doesn't exist on an internet that just started.
Kurt was so respectful throughout the entire interview, he really understood how difficult it was for Nardwuar to record and be there being bothered so much, Kurt is a legend
I have a feeling the next Nirvana album would've been excellent. He was getting more mellow (see Do Re Mi), had a killer single, pun not intended, (You Know You're Right), and he was just in the beginning of working on it. Scott Stipe says he heard glimpes of it and guarantees us it would've blown us out of the water. MTV Unplugged was so good that he knew then that mellow material wasn't betraying the "punk rock" that he loved to talk about so much. Really wish we would've got that one more album before he took the shotgun express. My first gf was very Courtney-esque and these narcissistic, possibly borderline personality disorder individuals will drain all the positive life force out of you. I felt backed into a wall and tried to kill myself like 10 times, but luckily I sucked at that as much as a I sucked at life. If I had millions upon millions of dollars though, I might not have felt so desperate, but they can make you feel like you're at fault for all the shit they do to you and you're constantly wondering if they're actually right and it's you that's crazy and abusive. She didn't kill him directly or hire anyone, but she planted seeds in an ultimately naive but talented man she saw as her ticket to stardom. I think it was Billy Corgan that she was really in love with because he doesn't take shit. Dude's got some serious shit going on himself, but he was tall, at the time quite good looking (especially Gish era), knew his way around the guitar, and probably had some massive gear judging by the size of his hands, feet, and height. But he was not to be manipulated and wasn't even as popular at the time. By the time Siamese Dream blew up, Kurt was well aware that she wanted his gerkin, and by the time three huge hits were all over MTV and Rocket was just hitting MTV and radio to a limited extent, he may have felt quite inadequate. After Kurts death and the release of Pisces Iscariot and finally Mellon Collie, Billy was forced to part with the source of his genius. Pattern balding is a killer, and he shaved more than his hair that night. He shaved his soul and any remaining vestiges of modesty. RIP Kurt and Corgan. Thank God we still have Courtney.

Listen to the Nardwuar behind the scene commentary of this episode - he says the band gave him and his cameraman all-access back stage passes for another show in Seattle the next day too but he had a prior commitment and couldn’t go. Why would they give him more all access passes after this interview finished and encourage him to come to another show if they hated him or were annoyed by him? They probably liked him and that’s why they felt comfortable taking the piss outta his questions. Lighten up ppl.

I have a feeling the next Nirvana album would've been excellent. He was getting more mellow (see Do Re Mi), had a killer single, pun not intended, (You Know You're Right), and he was just in the beginning of working on it. Scott Stipe says he heard glimpes of it and guarantees us it would've blown us out of the water. MTV Unplugged was so good that he knew then that mellow material wasn't betraying the "punk rock" that he loved to talk about so much. Really wish we would've got that one more album before he took the shotgun express. My first gf was very Courtney-esque and these narcissistic, possibly borderline personality disorder individuals will drain all the positive life force out of you. I felt backed into a wall and tried to kill myself like 10 times, but luckily I sucked at that as much as a I sucked at life. If I had millions upon millions of dollars though, I might not have felt so desperate, but they can make you feel like you're at fault for all the shit they do to you and you're constantly wondering if they're actually right and it's you that's crazy and abusive. She didn't kill him directly or hire anyone, but she planted seeds in an ultimately naive but talented man she saw as her ticket to stardom. I think it was Billy Corgan that she was really in love with because he doesn't take shit. Dude's got some serious shit going on himself, but he was tall, at the time quite good looking (especially Gish era), knew his way around the guitar, and probably had some massive gear judging by the size of his hands, feet, and height. But he was not to be manipulated and wasn't even as popular at the time. By the time Siamese Dream blew up, Kurt was well aware that she wanted his gerkin, and by the time three huge hits were all over MTV and Rocket was just hitting MTV and radio to a limited extent, he may have felt quite inadequate. After Kurts death and the release of Pisces Iscariot and finally Mellon Collie, Billy was forced to part with the source of his genius. Pattern balding is a killer, and he shaved more than his hair that night. He shaved his soul and any remaining vestiges of modesty. RIP Kurt and Corgan. Thank God we still have Courtney.
