First, great choice Xmaxx is awesome....I don't even know you and am excited for ya, 2nd don't worry about the mesh. With the aluminum motor mounts and the hardened steel pinion and spur they are slightly tighter than normal gears and plastic mount, but it's fine, I have multiple ultimate Xmaxx's I checked out the mesh myself and took it easy a bit but no issues, it's mainly the hardened steel gears makes it sound worse than it is..I have no issues, and the wide maxx kit is your preference it looks killer with it, but not a must, but will be cool!!!! Great video buddy and I'll hit the sub and everything else for ya bro!!! 💯👍👍
Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate everything, yea I definitely wasn’t too sure about the mesh, but I keep hearing everything will be ok, so that definitely is settling to know, thanks for watching and commenting bro, extremely pleased to hear you subbed, Any other tips you can think of, I’m all ears !
I used the heavier springs from a wide maxx kit, changed my shock oil, and installed the HD upper and lower arms. I have mine geared 20/46 with the Traxxas machined gears. I also changed my suspension pins to the RPM threaded hinge pins. I put a little ca glue on the inside of the rubber on the wheelie bar wheels as the rubber would keep coming off of the wheels. It seems to be pretty bullet proof now. I do plan to upgrade to rocket fans on my esc and motor some day. BTW I love the look of that body you have on the Xmaxx.
Thank you very much for the awesome tip, I greatly appreciate it, I’m definitely going to start upgrading it little by little, and I will definitely be using this list you gave me, thank you for the compliment on the truck
@@RockSideRC It is just some things that failed as I learned how to jump and do flips. As things like arms broke I replaced them with the HD versions. I have been into RC since the 70s, but just got in to bashers a year ago.
@Doug_Morgan Oh yeah I heard a lot of ppl saying to upgrade the arms 1st, I was going to go with the RPM arms all the way around, I’ve been been into RC since the 80’s but definitely still learning as I go, I just started to bash myself a few months ago, so I definitely have a lot to learn lol, but I greatly appreciate the awesome tips you’ve provided !
I run my xmaxx with a 1100kv motor and max6 G2, rpm hubs around and the m2c top brace and motor mount and rear support. I agree with dont get the heavy tyres. Also leave the a arms stock. Build in some cheap and easy to replace breakpoints...nice body on your truck man. Like it!
How do you like the xmaxx with the 1100kv max6 system, I have that system in one of my smaller trucks and it’s a monster setup, did you keep the stock gearing or did you gear up, do you feel the stock arms are better then RPM arms or stay with stock your saying because it’s a cheap replacement? Thank you very much for the compliment on the new body
@RockSideRC i have the gpm mod1.5 set. I believe a 35t spur and a 20t pinion. Wouldnt want anything else anymore. And yeah i.m.o just leave arms stock. Broke my left a arm once and my right a arm once in 2 years owning it. And that was in a crash with other rc at 40 mph in cold weather. I have just put a max6 g2 in my truck havent even tested it cuz the weather is abysmal. The max6 g1 is now in my mojave cus the old stock spektrum esc kept cutting out
Definitely need those belted tires, when I put the speed pinion on mine back in the day, half a tire went about 60ft in the air a few minutes later. You want to swap the vxl esc out for hobbywing max6 or max 5. Pinion mesh is fine, first I've heard of that in years of owning a couple. If you run high speed which is the only way imo, you'll want to upgrade motor fan. Hit everything plastic with wd40 or something similar, if you do it's about impossible to break.
Thank you very much for the great advice, I’m sorry to hear about the tire exploding, I’ll definitely check out the speed gearing and Esc, I will definitely try the wd40 trick, hopefully it helps with these cold temps we get up here in NY sadly, I was honestly thinking RPM for the arms, I’ve had pretty good luck with them!
@@RockSideRC the rpms are solid, however I've only ever broke one front a arm and I tagged a pine tree at 40mph with left front tire. Only real damage it's taken, smashed a few pinions but that's why the mesh is tight, any slack with 7hp and they pop. They make some incredibly good aftermarket pinions now. I heard good things about the belt drive conversion as well but it requires a different motor. Personally I couldn't make the swap the stock motor is incredibly strong especially if you give it some more juice from a better esc.
@christophersimkins7109 Oh wow it definitely sounds like the Xmaxx is pretty tough from out the box, I’m not sure about gearing up yet, til I take your advice on upgrading the Esc 1st, but I think I’ll keep the motor also, definitely has nice tq, I could only imagine how much better it will be with with better gearing and esc, thanks for the help/tips greatly appreciated
You can build it to be pretty much bullet proof with minor mods.Heavy tires are a big mistake on these trucks.First thing i would do is upgrade the pot metal pinion and spur gear.
I’m still learning but I believe the ultimate XMaxx comes with the upgraded metal gears ⚙️ I have the proline wheels/tires but my buddy mentioned the same thing, not to use them and just run the stock tires
My upgrades on my main runner Gpm 8mm dogbones Axspeed diff output cups Gpm steel stub axles Hot racing spur and robinson racing pinion Protek fans x3 Monster pass servo Hot racing 3rd bearing cush drive Kevin talbot mods Silicone ear plugs in center diff Shimmed diffs Hobbywing max 6 esc Plus more lol but im building my 3rd xmaxx now😅
Wide max kit is a waste of money in my opinion, this is one of the most stable trucks ever. People that roll the xmaxx are simply expecting to much out of an RC, like it's magic or some shit.
Lmao 🤣 yes I definitely agree, when I took it out I was wondering why ppl suggested putting the wide kit on it when it handles decently out the box, I could see upgrading the steering servo and maybe some RPM arms all the way around !
The baddest xmaxx I've seen ❤
I greatly appreciate the compliment bro, thank you for watching
No bull,she nasty.
Beast of a truck, man. Congrats!
Thanks bro, greatly appreciate the compliment, Traxxas did a great job on the Ultimate line up

Thanks bro, greatly appreciated, definitely loving the new Xmaxx Ultimate

Nice rig, yeah those RC Thunder guys are insane, I see you got a different body, are you running Traxxas batteries?
Thank you, I wanted to change up the look of the xmaxx, I’m running Spektrum batteries 4s 100c 5000 mah
Awesome truck and great vid. Where did you get that truck body for your rig?
Thanks, greatly appreciated, check out Amain hobbies I believe the part # is PRO3507-17

@RockSideRC servo definitely lacks power but it holds up well as far as breaking.
It has a high centre of gravity, that's why it traction rolls more than others. Physics dude, not expectations.
@Bennyboy1212-f4e it don't roll though, I've been driving one for several years.
