My first thought was the Elris to Alice rebrand. If you're struggling to make a name for yourself, the last thing you want to do is rebrand to a common name that could easily bring up lots of other search results when someone tries to Google you.
but wasn't that because they changed companies & didn't have the rights to elris anymore? i get what you mean with alice not being the best choice internationally but i don't think picking a completely different name would have made them more succesful
The subtitled one hit hard for me. I like KPop, but I am a JPop fan first and foremost, I have been since I was a kid. Since the JPop market is so insular and self-sustaining, they don’t feel the need to really cater to international audiences that often (maybe unless there’s a big tie-in like an anime or video game song involved). I love JPop, but sometimes it’s hard being an English-speaking JPop fan 😭
for real im a kpop fans since i was young but these days i got into jpop but couldnt keep up even tho i can speak japanese better than korean the lack of contents killed me i can't know their personalities. most of them don't have variety shows and when they go to variety tv shows we cant watch it cuz they're not on youtube
I love Niziu and am constantly impressed with the quality of their music but if I didn’t understand most Japanese I would definitely not appreciate them as much as I do.
As a jpop fan since 2002 i feel this so strongly. I’ve been studying Japanese for five years now so i have more appreciation for lyrics, but in terms of anything live/unscripted I feel so behind in my listening skills
Video idea : Poor management by agencies with regards to an idol’s scandals and the effect it had on the company? Might be a lot of work but i think it falls under the categories that you mostly cover Amazing channel btw, I love all of your videos and topics that you cover!
Oh yes, please. The way SM handled Lucas' and Seunghan's scandals should be on top of the list😭 because none of us are in marketing but anyone can see they could've handled the issues differently.
I think a number in a name isn’t too bad depending on the placement, spelling, and overall sound, but I WILL agree that within kpop there are so many bad ones lol 😂😂😂
It is like a curse. If the name has a number in their name, the group definitely will lose at least one member. I also dislike when groups names include words like girls, boys, kids, child etc. It will age like milk
For The Kingdom I get what they were trying to do, since they enter a new era, but still… I’m actually confused why they didn’t change the name before they debuted… Like they probably knew that their name would be mixed up with the drama and reality show, they debuted in 2021 and they could’ve avoided it. But for me the worst change has to be the logo… Like they literally chose THE UGLIEST font possible and a put it on green background (Louis was definitely on vacation that day since the Aesthetic has left the chat). Also, what’s up with introducing the abbreviation TKD? Don’t we already have tons of groups who have three-letter names names with T or D? Also, the official spelling being The KingDom is so tedious since no one wants to write a capital letter in the middle of the world, they could’ve just go with THE KINGDOM.
omg yess the logo! it used to be so pretty and unique, I completely understand feeling like they needed to change their concept over time, but I am worried it taking a more 'generic' route when they were in such a unique concept/position :(
I wholeheartedly agree. I'm a gg stan but Kingdom is (was?) one of my ults. I adored everything they did as music, styling, lyrics, concept... gods, the concept. This is the only group whose lore I'm interested in. I don't know what happened after Coup D'etat... they were done introducing all kings and their kingdoms and I was on the edge of my seat to see how the real storyline would progress. However, I never expected... this. The logo for the Flip that coin era is horrendous and honestly, the whole aestetic of the era is just awful to me, especially with the majestic and sophisticated looks of the eras before that. They were the best in royal concepts and they abounded it - and for what? For the most generic and boring MV they have ever made. I could have gotten over the name change tbh if it wasn't so freaking pointless? In the beginning I thought it's because 'Kingdom' was just too generic to google but adding 'the' in front of it doesn't make it better IN THE SLIGHTEST. And whoever decided their new name to be 'The KingDom' should be fired lmao. Also, I don't understand the argument that it's because they enter a new era - are they gonna change their name every time they get a new sound? Ridiculous. Overall, all the changes that happened after Coup D'etat greatly disappointed me. Flip that coin is actually an alright song that fits their original concept but I just couldn't enjoy it at all - I couldn't swallow the changes mentioned above and ESPECIALLY them (seemingly) abounding their concept. (Concept and storyline are not the same thing.) I'm historical typa girl and I ate up their concept, it was all I ever wanted from kpop. I'll try to give them a chance with the next comeback which must be soon but after everything that happened, I need them to release the best song they have ever made in order to make me remain as a fan... This whole situation is just painful, Kingdom was a very special group and it was the first (and only) time where I'm OT7. I can't believe they're abounding the look and aesthetic they worked to establish for almost 3 years... Naively, I never imagined they'll turn around 180 degrees like that. Sorry for the mini rant and thank you if anyone read all of that
@@ladymoon7327 Yeah, to be frank I’m worried about their future especially since their sales have been dropping since Mujin’s album… I totally get your point as they were one of the only groups that I’ve been following since debut. When I saw the MV of Excalibur and then the MCountdown stage… I thought to myself that no one could ever top such debut. I think the biggest problem with The Kingdom is that the execution of their concept and lore was lacklustre since the beginning. The source of their lore was only present in MV’s, title tracks, and intro. This is not enough to make the lore seem interesting enough and to introduce details that would actually invest fans and non-fans to follow it. I know that GF is not a big company so it’s pretty unrealistic, but still a man can dream. They deserve to have some kind of webtoon, photobooks or even written novels, the lore has SO MUCH potential. I also think that if their b-sides (except Promise and Song of the wind) would be somehow musically or thematically related to intro and title tracks, people would immediately be more invested. They would feel that the concept is not just some gimmick, but it is genuine and is actually something crucial to their identity. However the truth is that their b-sides, even though many of them are really solid, they could’ve been sung by such group as The Boyz (I’m sorry, it’s nothing personal, it’s just the first group that came to my mind), and nobody would see a difference, adding more to them being „generic”. I don’t think the change from historical to modern times was a bad idea per se. However, I think it happened way too early and wasn’t well thought. Before the summary of the first season, we received little to no hints that The Kingdom’s history is tied to modern times. Long Live The King was the only real hint since the song itself mixes styles to represent journey through different time periods and Louis is portrayed to be immortal. But it’s not enough and the change still feels too abrupt. We’ve got the taste of their modern looks during Mujin era and their American tour and that was when I’ve realised how transparent the group looked when they had to perform Dystopia in jean outfits (I know why they did it, but still). It seemed like the group wasn’t the same, they lacked something. I think GF got too cocky and thought that seven albums were enough to solidify group’s identity. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. The Kingdom isn’t Dreamcatcher that can allow themselves to experiment in different ways now that they’ve established their fanbase and everyone knows about their rock-influenced sound. I’ve heard somewhere that the person who was mainly involved in developing The Kingdom’s concept actually withdrew from GF and it makes sense why the change happened so suddenly. Since the beginning we were told that we would get tons of albums and that the group’s career was basically planned for many years. Many fans, including me, were theorising what would be the order of albums in the next season or whether Hwon would receive an album at all. I wouldn’t be surprised if that person basically decided to gatekeep all the ideas and begrudgingly allowed GF to finish 1st season. Also, the last album differs vastly from HOK series. There’s no intro, there’s no instrumental, and the title of the album is so weird, because it doesn’t refer to any of the members. It’s not even named “[2nd season title], Part 1: REALIZE”. It’s just “REALIZE”. I have my own theory that maybe REALIZE isn’t the beginning of the series, but a standalone album that might be some kind of translation or an introduction to the Season 2. Unless GF is so dumb that they simply forgot to name the season somehow, lmao. Yeah, I’ve also went on a rant (sorry), but it’s really frustrating, since this group could be much more than it is, especially now when boy groups have a difficult time to stand out. If I had a UA-cam channel and resources for that, I’d probably make some kind of video to reimagine The Kingdom’s career, lmao.
@@kaiwen_luii'm a month late but i'm totally in support of the kingdom career reimagining video! as a kingme it's really disheartening to see gluten free entertainment fumbling the bag like that and flushing all their progress down the drain. even during coup d'etat era the cb felt so bittersweet because in my head i kinda had an inkling that this was it and their concept was gonna change. especially after they got eliminated during the first round in peak time for having an established sound and concept. i feared that they would take that bs criticism to heart and eventually succumb to mediocrity to fit in the industry. i was hoping that gf would be smart enough to believe in their own creative direction and the uniqueness kingdom brought to the table but no. and how did i just now learn that the person responsible for the concept plan has left?! everything about their sudden rebranding makes sense now!
Especially in FIFTY FIFTY's case. The original groups' concept was that for some of their songs, the quartet would split FIFTY FIFTY (hence the name) and sing the song in duets instead. Now that the group is five, that concept wouldn't make any sense and so neither does their name.
The name wasn't from them splitting vocals duties, it came from the concept of coexistence. Idol life was going to be hard but they were going to strive for success - half reality and half ideals. The group and fans were also supposed to coexist - the group was half (50) and the fans were supposed to be the other half (50) to make it complete (100). Later they used the same reasoning when they picked the fandom name. Where did this misinformation come from?
@@glenfiddich-rs9hn I am wondering where this misconception and misinformation came from, too, because if it was about vocal duties, then the concept would only fit Sio (50%) and Aran (50%) who did all of the vocals (100%). Like, come on... just say you only like want the former members to be called Fifty Fifty because of Sio and Aran.
I absolutely disagree with Fifty Fifty making a mistake by keeping the name; i feel like most of y'all are missing smth: Fifty Fifty are UNKNOWN as a group, ALL of the members are unknown and Cupid is their only achievement other than the attention gained by the controversy, both of which are tied with the entity known as "Fifty Fifty". Sure, for us kpop stans they aren't nugu and obviously og hunnies will feel furious over this, but we are not the entire gp to which Attrakt (a small company) are shooting for with the group. The new member line up literally got an entire article on Billboard, thnx to the nature of the events; they initially made noise as "Fifty Fifty" when Cupid blee up and to mantain momentum without being from the Big 3, HYBE, Starship etc it's VERY difficult. If they would've changed the name, way more people wouldn't moved on from them since either support or just curiousity gets more than a new group from a small company. Even by controversy, the group has a way better chance ar success keeping the same name and holding the attention focus.
Even for kpop stans they are nugu. We all know the group but who would ever name the members? I couldn't not only name them but recognise any face even briefly. They are a one tiktok hit wonder group. Keeping the name was the only reasonable way to do it.
@@von1glik people think the prior tiny fandom who now keeps on shting on the new line up and preaching so much bout Fifty Fifty outta nowhere represent the group's biggest challenge when it's actually maintaining the attention & interest of the people who know Cupid and could maybe name the group BUT THAT'S IT.
It doesn't matter either way. If they change the name, the people who liked Cupid won't connect them to it; but with the understandable changes to the music producer and members, the sound will change, so Cupid lovers are unlikely to stick around anyway. Darned if they do. Darned if they don't.
Im so glad u mentioned to1 because they were my ult group for a longggg time so ive been with them through all the stuff their company wakeone put them through. I feel like they tend to be ignored alot or only known for their name change, which did impact the group esp when multiple members began to leave, including popular members, which made it more difficult to grow the group
It’s so funny how many of the things you said is what BTS did differently than other: they had english translations at least on their MVs and for other content, their fans jumped in. They had social media accounts on almost every platform and the "private" ones were run by the members, therefore were super active. Barely few days went by without a post. It’s sad that it changed now. BTS also went on tons of music shows to perform for army. And then, they are one of the few once where the rebranding worked. But basically they only "rebranded" for the western world, as BTS was just easier to pronounce than bangtan sonyeondan. They really made a clever choice their. About the groups keeping their name…especially in kpop it doesn’t make sense. I used to love 24k. The original 24k with Cory and Daeil… it already rubbed me the wrong way when members were replaced, but okay, I was able to live with that. Cory kinda had become the core of the group by then. But they eventually kicked out all the members. My baby Changsun was in the group and it felt like only a year (it was longer) that I saw him out on a survival show (he’s in TAN now) and the whole group rebranded as 24k+ with NO ORIGINAL MEMBER. And then they went a completely different route in music style. I would have understood if they kept the groups style, but not at all. They made a whole new group, but instead of giving them at least a little debut buzz, nothing. 24k was never a big group, but with heir rebranding literally their whole fanbase left. That was like the dumbest decision to ever be made 😅
See? but like when Brave Girls rebranded to BB GIRLS. Atleast the SEO was kinda better. The worst rebrand has to be Elris to ALICE, like WOW! now we cant even search u up
Minor point, but less than half of Indians speak Hindi. India has 22 official languages, with many times that actually spoken, so making subtitles specifically for India is not so simple.
12:07 Then you could say the same thing about Blackswan. Why does DR Entertainment keep the name when 4 of the original girls are no longer in the group and only Fatou remained? They went from a 5 member group to a 4 member group. Shouldn't they also change their name as well and should rebrand, too? Then, the same thing with Fatou she'll also have a different experience with the three new girls than she did with the original 4. I get what you are saying about Fifty Fifty, but I disagree.
@@freshstart0558I could see the new lineup of fifty fifty doing the same though, if you watch their little cover medley, though their voices are uniquely theirs and different from the ogs, they still give the soft sweet angelic vibe. From what I’ve seen, apart from hunnies, the gp didn’t know the concept and seemed confused why it 4 member group name fifty fifty lol.
DR is bad about this in general. One could argue that Black Swan is an extension/rebrand of BP Rania (their first album supports this), which was a rebrand of Rania, which ended up with a nearly, if not 100% new lineup from their debut. The company seems to just have a hard time letting go when they aught to. _The bright side_ is that Blackswan really has managed to escape Rania with the new name, and even though there's a nearly brand new lineup, the group is picking up traction because of their perseverance. And maybe that's why companies keep the name, hoping that the history and persistence eventually gives them popularity.
I would argue that renaming Blackswan wouldn't have been a good idea because Fatou brought the group a lot of its identity to the general public. There were 3 BP Rania members in the original Blackswan lineup, but a lot of people tuned into Blackswan specifically because of Fatou's addition, which also really seemed to strike the rebrand in the first place. Anybody that knew that Blackswan was changing members was probably deep enough into the group that they knew what DR Ent was about, so it shouldn't have been surprising there were member changes, but for the public Fatou really made Blackswan, so there shouldn't be a need for a rebrand. Opposed to this, Fifty Fifty was Attrakt's first group, so there's no real prior history to reference when it comes group marketing and treatment. Not only that, but Cupid blew up so much that it isn't really comparable. On top of that it was the twin version of Cupid that got so popular, and most people were attributing the group with Sio and Aran's vocals or Saena's choreo, and not with Keena as she had no real presence in twin version. While Keena was an original member, Fifty Fifty's success really took place independent of her, which means that forming a new group around her with the same name without the members that really skyrocketed the group's popularity is gonna cause a great disconnect amongst global audiences and casual listeners. On top of that we're also seeing the IOK Company directly attribute 3Jeong with "the viral success of Cupid" as they've now been scouted separate from Keena. Overall it's typically the members that make the group what it is, and when you have certain members skyrocketing in popularity over the others the identity of the group isn't really equally held, and each member has an entirely different share at the end of the day.
Poor marketing tactic 1: i do agree that from a marketing perspective, if a group has been using the same name for a damn good while, it wouldn't be wise to change it IF there isn't an announcement prior Some examples i would personally like to bring are the kingdom (from kingdom to The KingDom) and madein (limelight to madein) both of these groups have a change in group name to indicate a new theme + new soundscape. While madein notifed its fans that the group will be making a rebrand once ta da promotions is over, i don't think i heard a formal statement from Kingdom's company about the change in name (yes the company did state in the beginning that once all of the members have their themed song release that they would be making a kinda rebrand) i think it resulted in a very late name change cuz the 7 releases prior were all tied with a kinda historical elegance concept which then changed to be a more digital ish concept
#5 i'm a kamilia and kara has had a few lineup changes but idk it really worked for them, i think it also worked for wonder girls, it's different in the case of fifty fifty, i think it realy depends
if music shows improved their lighting (got rid of that pale white filter and bright white lightening that washes out the idols and makes their features blurry), turned down the backing track and got rid off pre-recorded vocals, i might consider watching them again. also the hosts/interviews during these music shows are stilted and awkward 9 times out of 10. they need MCs with ACTUAL personality that would keep things interesting. i prefer killing voice and it’s live at this point. also performances on sketchbook or live performance videos on the group’s own youtube channel. also agree regarding fifty fifty. i can see them keeping the name if just one or two people left but when it’s so many at one time, that means the dynamic will completely change, and it just won’t be the same group anymore
Ooh I was just thinking about the music show thing. Im just a casual listener of groups that I dont stan but i noticed smaller groups are really taking advantage of promoting on music shows when the budget allows which is great. But having been a 3rd gen stan, i notice popular groups who have been around for a long time barely promote on music shows and thats one of my favorite things about kpop. I WISH there was a weekly music show format in the US and I could see new renditions of my favorite songs so seeing my kpop groups only performing 3 shows is so heartbreaking
But do smaller ($) and new groups benefits from going on music shows? For the live exposure maybe but In their yt numbers are a fraction of fancam numbers of a popular group's member. Better yet how do marketing measure if a exposure or campain is effective ? If it effect isnt instant.
That was what I was thinking, especially since they end up losing that needed money to fund future projects, especially if you are from a low income company
Almost as bad as changing names is a name that is meaningless to anyone other than the fandom. Groups like Stray Kids, Red Velvet, Twice, Big Bang are great, but names like B1A4 (which remind me of two paper sizes) or AB6IX (?) Or MCND (sounds like a sku number for a medical drug) are just bad. I don't care if VAV, EXID, Up10tion or TxT are an acronym for something, it just plays off bad. And names that is meaningless in english like Victon, Mamamoo, Weki Meki, Fromis 9 can be cringe or may work, but the name won't be a help.
Kinda off-topic but imo The 50-50 fans honestly should evaluate themselves because how are you crying about attrakt mistreating the members while simultaneously bullying the new 50-50 girls? I literally saw someone saying and I quote “Can someone in Korea act like she was a bully so she can get a garam moment?” Mind you this was said about Athena, a 17-year-old, a literal child… words cannot describe how disgusted and angry I felt the fact that you think it’s OK to wish something like this upon someone a literal child nonetheless so gross😐🤢
For number 2, i would love to gain teaching lessons about how how to analyze data so that you can advance your marketing as i find that to be incredibly crucial for my course work specifically (for context i'm a digital communications major at my college in canada and so with that comes times where i need to take courses aboit how to best analyze social media or online data regarding a product/service and how to weave it in a kinda way to advance one's marketing so that their business can reach higher leavels of notice)
Also....the lack of effort put into comebacks by groups that are CONSTANTLY on tour. Ahemm..... ITZY, ATEEZ, Twice...come to the front of the congregation. In ATEEZ' side, they were introducing a new album...and in their opinion, A Golden hour era. But on looking at the concept photos and teaser, and even trailers, there was BARELY anything enticing about this era. It Almost felt like they just dropped, and dipped back to tour. And it doesn't help with all the exposure they got after Coachella. I truly expected more from the comeback, like a post title track wither blind or Shaboom. But this album gave me the bare bare bare minimum. I wasn't even enticed to purchase any physical albums because of how DRY the promotios for the album was. You would think that the company was going to file for bankruptcy the next day with the way they handled their promotions. I thought that with the Coachella hype, we would get promotion after promotion. Like be EVERYWHERE....interviews on SNL, performance of GMA, global citizen festival etc, like SOMETHING!!!! But the album was the complete bare minimum for me. And we can talk about how we should just ENJOY the music, but some of us like to be a part of the journey too!!! Compared to how they utilised the Kingdom era hype when introducing their World series albums, this era was a complete fail. And the guerilla era is the one that brought in soooo many new fans. On a sidenote: i understand that ATEEZ was booked all over the place. But there is such a thing called strategic schedules and ATEEZ BARELY did that. This album would have been their easiest to perform considering they used easy children nostalgic dances as their dance challenges but they couldn't even get that right. Okay, I'm done ranting. If you are an atiny, and you feel just like me, you are not alone in your disappointment too
Hiii! Atiny here. I just wanted to say that I've never really thought about it because Golden Hour is such a good album but I realised that I agree with you. Golden Hour was my first comeback as an Atiny and I listened to it as soon as it came out at school. I didn't really follow trailers and stuff (mostly because I didn't know they released an album, I just thought they would release Work and the album would come later, sort of like a lead single in western pop, which in kpop doesn't really happen as much) but I think that should show you how bad the marketing was. It's a shame because the music is really good and all the songs are amazing but I'm so disappointed we didn't get an MV for Blind because it's my favorite song and an absolute banger. I wanted to buy the album but after seeing the unboxing, I was kind of disappointed because it just looked very plain (especially in comparison to the Crazy Form era photos...) and way too 'minimalistic'. This era deserved so much more and I wish they stopped spending money on Work remixes nobody asked for with problematic people *cough cough* abusers *cough cough* G-Eazy and rather did better promotions or another MV for Blind or even Shaboom. I mean, we only got a performance of Empty Box. It's a shame, because it could have been such an iconic era for them.
@@flaggov6949 there is minimalism that is good to look at and appreciate and amazing. The Golden hour minimalism was giving "rush project, the fans will take anything we throw without complaint, pump and dump."" The fever era was minimalist like Golden hour, but it was better and back then ATEEZ had 5 dollars and a budget.
@@PrimadonnaGirl12 finally someone said it. That's what I expected too. I expected like either a surprise drop for blind while they were on tour and perform it on music shows just like baby monster did with the "like that" track. But KQ as usual likes to keep things under wraps and act like the company is gonna di3 the next day. Atinys always shout at the top about the diversity in ATEEZ' music but ATEEZ' management doesn't even bother promoting the group's discography better. I expected that at Coachella we would gwt like a one minute performance teaser of like let's say Shaboom, then they drop the music video, then drop work and promote at music shows. The give a post release of blind and go on tour. They couldn't even make VISUALIZERS for the b sides so that people could get more interested in the songs. But the just drop those funny looking color logos that they love to use all the time. Nothing about this era screamed Golden hour, not even the sounds themselves.....but I digress. The posters, trailers, everything was just a rush project to go back on tour. And I am going to say it again, KQ making ATEEZ go back on tour after three months is one of the biggest reason that this comeback flopped hard. Like with all the Coachella hype that they had, they couldn't even use it to their advantage. Whoever does their marketing needs to be let go. They are doing a piss poor Job at what they did with this era. I don't even think we will ever get a blind or Shaboom performance from them. And once the oldest turn 28, preparations for the military. This opportunity was just sooooo ripe for the taking, but KQ wanted the tour money first. Like everyone knows ATEEZ has the best tours, people would still purchase the tickets even if the tour came next year, that's how much people love ATEEZ. KQ keeps making the group work like they are going bankrupt tomorrow. They should start thinking smarter if they want longevity. And you what's disappointing and embarrassing, after releasing and piss poor promotions for work, ATEEZ didn't even get a VMA nomination despite crazy form and work having good videos. ATEEZ is starting to become redundant and boring to me. I truly hope the next comeback is much better.
@donttalk372 You are totally right about the touring, I was super surprised when I saw the new tour, I was like, 'already??'. They should have focused more on putting more effort on Golden Hour because it deserved it. In my opinion, many groups can pull of the minimalist concept perfectly. Ateez is not one of them. Don't get me wrong, nothing against them, it's just that their whole idea is maximalist and loud. I'm not saying they should always do the same thing, of course not. As an artist I know how much it sucks to be limited creatively and to not be able to create something new or different just because of your previous work. Besides, I'm all for groups trying out new concepts, but it just doesn't work (see what I did there??) with ATEEZ. I think maybe, if done differently, they might have been able to pull it off. It's just maybe the way it was executed was a little lazy. With such a drastic change in aesthetic, sound and visuals, it must be done carefully and with extra effort so as it comes out like something fresh and new but not unconsistent, which was a little bit of the case. It had so much potential as an album and it could have thrived so much more if more effort was put into it. This way, despite being a great great album, it comes off more as inconsistent or half-assed, rather than something new and different from their regular sound that Ateez wanted to try out. Also, justice for blind, it deserved at the very least a choreography because it's so fun and danceable! Golden Hour deserved so much more

It’s not a bad decision to keep the fifty fifty name, even if it doesn’t feel right to fans. Oh yes, please. The way SM handled Lucas' and Seunghan's scandals should be on top of the list😭 because none of us are in marketing but anyone can see they could've handled the issues differently.

that's so great to know, thank you so much! 🥰💖
every time a new group comes out with a number in their name i seriously roll my eyes... after 30 years of kpop, it's like they never learn
I think a number in a name isn’t too bad depending on the placement, spelling, and overall sound, but I WILL agree that within kpop there are so many bad ones lol 😂😂😂
Oh gosh ikr, it's like the universes sees a group debut with a number in their name to represent the amount of members and goes ...interesting 👀🙈
The fact that 9muses only had like 2 songs as 9 should have been the wake up call
This!! Even though they entered a new era, they have essentially completely erased everything that was unique about them
omg yess the logo! it used to be so pretty and unique, I completely understand feeling like they needed to change their concept over time, but I am worried it taking a more 'generic' route when they were in such a unique concept/position :(
I wholeheartedly agree.
@@glenfiddich-rs9hn oh really? I saw another comment mention it and I just went along with it. Oh well... The name is kinda boring now..
@@viki7268 it was a joke fans came up with.
New Coke and Zero Coke is still Coke. It would be dumb to change the brand name of Coke to something else... Duh
I agree with you
This new lineup has me more interested and has way more potential than the old one imo.
Darned if they don't.
wow, i have just discovered your channel and i loove it. i love marketing and i love kpop so it's a perfect match 🥹
Ooh thank you for this point! I didn't know this actually 😮
I feel like black swan really matches the group’s colours right now and ppl do recognise the group now as for especially the Korean audience
I think the name blackswan can still fit the group well cuz no matter what group arrangement they are in, the name still fits it's concept
Poor marketing tactic 1: i do agree that from a marketing perspective, if a group has been using the same name for a damn good while, it wouldn't be wise to change it IF there isn't an announcement prior
Some examples i would personally like to bring are the kingdom (from kingdom to The KingDom) and madein (limelight to madein) both of these groups have a change in group name to indicate a new theme + new soundscape.
If Keena ever left this group it would be a perfect example of Theseus's Paradox 😭
if music shows improved their lighting (got rid of that pale white filter and bright white lightening that washes out the idols and makes their features blurry), turned down the backing track and got rid off pre-recorded vocals, i might consider watching them again. also the hosts/interviews during these music shows are stilted and awkward 9 times out of 10. they need MCs with ACTUAL personality that would keep things interesting. i prefer killing voice and it’s live at this point. also performances on sketchbook or live performance videos on the group’s own youtube channel.
also agree regarding fifty fifty. i can see them keeping the name if just one or two people left but when it’s so many at one time, that means the dynamic will completely change, and it just won’t be the same group anymore
YAY MARKETING VIDEO
YAYY! They're some of my favourites to make 🥺💖
But do smaller ($) and new groups benefits from going on music shows? For the live exposure maybe but
In their yt numbers are a fraction of fancam numbers of a popular group's member.
Better yet how do marketing measure if a exposure or campain is effective ? If it effect isnt instant.
That was what I was thinking, especially since they end up losing that needed money to fund future projects, especially if you are from a low income company
yay first!
yayy thank youu!
3:33 CTDENM I’M LOOKING AT YOU
Kinda off-topic but imo The 50-50 fans honestly should evaluate themselves because how are you crying about attrakt mistreating the members while simultaneously bullying the new 50-50 girls? I literally saw someone saying and I quote “Can someone in Korea act like she was a bully so she can get a garam moment?” Mind you this was said about Athena, a 17-year-old, a literal child… words cannot describe how disgusted and angry I felt the fact that you think it’s OK to wish something like this upon someone a literal child nonetheless so gross😐🤢
A lot of kpop fans are hypocrites nothing new.
I liked it. After the excess that was The World series (don't get me wrong I loved it), I liked the minimalist switch up, but to each their own.
@@flaggov6949 there is minimalism that is good to look at and appreciate and amazing. The Golden hour minimalism was giving "rush project, the fans will take anything we throw without complaint, pump and dump.""
The fever era was minimalist like Golden hour, but it was better and back then ATEEZ had 5 dollars and a budget.
Golden Hour deserved so much more
Hahaha I`m glad I`m not the only one who hates Kingdoms new group name xD It doesn`t make any sense. The other examples you gave kinda make sense because the spelling is easier or the group is easier to google but for Kingdom it doesn`t make a difference. Never watch it with subtitles. Ruins the entire song. Pop lyrics are normally quite infantile

thats why we are boycotting fifty fifty + also bc former members and keena being abused by the company
It’s not a bad decision to keep the fifty fifty name, even if it doesn’t feel right to fans. Their song went viral and most people who will be looking them up will be locals who don’t care about the members. Using a new name would lose all that potential audience and make no money.
