Great content! I’m someone who has been looking to break into VC on the biotech/pharma side. I have made some great connections and learned a ton in the process. Despite the fact that you focused more on the tech side of things, I still found this content incredibly insightful!
Pitchbook and crunchbase, and I read term sheet first thing every morning to know who is funding what kinds of companies (largely so I can avoid those markets!)
Thank you for this insightful video! Your content is truly empowering. As someone who discovered venture capital later in my 20s, it’s encouraging to know there are paths into the field. Appreciate the guidance!
Recently found you and love your content! Had a few questions: 1. Could you dive into the different roles at a VC and what their day look like? 2. What does compensation look like for these roles? 3. How does a young (recent grad with startup experience) join as partner?
Thank you! Yes great idea, I was planning a day in the life type video. Comp is about 200-250 base plus some bonus or perhaps a feee hundred k of carry if lucky for associate hires who usually have some startup or banking or consulting experience. Recent grads are typically not hired often into major VC funds as it’s really hard to be effective before you have expertise (eg you can help founders on GTM because you did this at stripe) or a network (eg you have friends at stripe starting companies to fund)
Sorry I don't - I started this channel because I got too many questions on this so wanted a way to reach many people at the same time! Can try to answer short questions in comments here
Hey Wayne! Can you please do a video on how to apply to a business school like HBS to switch into VC especially as a non-American? Basically a video on how to apply to HBS successfully

Genuine question. Do you ever feel insecure that you didnt let the math nerd grow into a tech role. I ask this because i am myself insecure between tech and leaving tech and doing my MBA.
Awesome video Wayne! Glad to see you're back on the platform and giving such valuable advice for people looking to get into VC!

can you explain why does it matter if vc raised from institutions vs rich people
@@samiaafrin6145 if you raise money from public pensions, you are making money for teachers and firefighters

Sometimes! But I love what I do now and every choice I made led to this
