Thousands of artifacts have been discovered from Syria, where the original Arabs came from in tribes. To the banks of the Nile, rings bracelets plates cups tools , all with the crescent moon engraved into them. Even a copper calf.
So proving that Ishmael had nothing to do with the original Arabs, and the greatest god of Arabia was the moongod. This proving "the god" (translated) al-lia and his three daughters allat manat and al-uzza were the moongod and his daughters.

Three cheers to professor Shady Nasser. *You are truly an academic* and that is how a true academic presents to his/her own students, grounding them on *methodology* [or 'scientific' approach] not creating blind believers. Your personal beliefs are *irrelevant* but methodology. And these rules applies to all religions, faiths and beliefs. Enjoyed every second of it, brings back memories of my wonderful teachers of my college.
Edit: If anyone doing undergrad studies in humanities this is the way to approach your subject matter. Explain your terminology, set back and move out of your box, ask questions and counter questions, look for or bring primary sources to prove your claims. This a wonderful teacher / student conversation in academic level. Do not follow what your ancestors told you or your clan follows. Yes, apologists having PhDs do so, but not true academics as they guide you for your own conclusions wit myriad of counter questions forcing you to find answers. And this is no exception to Christians, Bible, Hindus, Buddhists or anyone else. Loved it!!!

However Farid does accidently point out a serious weakness of the Arabic language. He shows three Arabic words with distinct meanings that differ only by two tiny marks. His claim is that Dr. Nasser got the wrong one. Those marks could easily be flyspecks or drops from a pre-ballpoint pen. The meaning of an entire passage could be changed by an inadvertent speck.

Why would a deity who is supposed to be the creator of the whole universe create a religion that is so un-universal (is that even a word?), a religion that would be so hard for people to understand and follow, unless you live in the 7th century Arabia. Here is what I mean:
Why would the creator of the universe start a religion in a language that is spoken by less than 10% of the world’s population AND THEN make it a law that the book he dictated to an illiterate merchant turned warlord shall never ever be translated to any other language?
Why would the creator of the universe make everybody face Mecca when praying. Doesn’t he know that the earth is round, and we will one day become a space-faring nation?
Why would the creator of the universe make it an obligation for all Muslims to visit an obscure shire in the middle of the desert at least once in a lifetime? Couldn’t he foresee the logistical problems it will make? And the deaths that it will cause (Stampedes happen almost every other year. In 2015, 2144 people died due to a massive stampede)?
Wouldn’t Allah know how hard it would be for Asians for example to grow a beard? (Yes, a beard is recommended in the Hadith)?
Wouldn’t Allah know how impractical the Hijab would be in other climates?
Why doesn’t Allah appreciate the diverse cultures of humankind?
Why would Allah feel the need to apply a common denominator to all Muslims, and then choosing pre-Islamic customs as the common denominator?
Questions needed to be answered or shouldn’t even have to be questioned if Allah was really a real God .

Through it God speaks to human beings through his son, Jesus Christ.(Heb 1:1-2) All scripture was inspired by God .(2 Timothy 3:16) The human authors/writes were under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Unlike the Quran which Muslims claim that it is sent directly from heavens to Mohamed and there is no evidence that Allah really sent a book ! It reminds me of a UA-cam clip I saw where it was mentioned that it was common for households to have 3 shakers, one for salt, one for pepper, and the third one was a mystery. Because no one decided to write it down, now people aren't sure what was in that third shaker, so info can get lost pretty easily.

Adjectives and verbs inflected without observance of the concords of gender and number; illogically and ungrammatically applied pronouns which sometimes have no referent; and predicates which in rhymed passages are often remote from the subjects. Was the Prophet of Islam an Atheist?
Yes the heading will certainly raise some eyebrows but bear with me and please be open minded as I present to you an unconventional but certainly probable exposition on Muhammed, the final Prophet.
According to Muslims, Muhammed was a 7th century Arab who received revelations from God through an angel intermediary over a period of 23 years, thus forming the basis of the Quran - a scripture containing all the revelations. But this is where we run into problems. When you open the Quran and read these supposed revelations (from an ALL knowing powerful God) you discover the following irregularities and discrepancies.
1.Verses originating from myths and legends (Syriac Legend of Alexander and The 7 Sleepers of Ephesus )
    2. Verses originating from rejected apocryphal biblical and gnostic sources (The Infancy Gospel of Thomas)
    3. Verses lifted straight from the bible (Universe created in 6 days, Camel through the Eye of a needle)
    4. Verses that seem to serve the personal whims and fancies of Muhammed (who he can marry, which wife he can spend more time with etc).
    5. Verses that keeps repeating immoral intercouse with married female captives.(4:24, 23:1, 70:29, 33:50 etc)
    6. Verses that undermines the status of women. (beat them, testimony is worth less than than that of a man, 4 months seclusion)
    7. Verses that are confusing and strange (3.7 basically says the entire Qur'an is unclear and if try to understand it you have a disease. 3:81)
    8. Verses that places a bizarre emphasis on sexual pleasure for men (and Jinn) in the afterlife (55:56).
    9. Verses that provide zero context or explanation (Who is Abu Lahab?)
    10. Verses that repeatedly confirm the inspiration, preservation, authority and authenticity of the 7th century bible even though Muslims insist it's been corrupted from the 1st century (3.3, 5:47, 7:157 etc)
    11. Verses that are completely wrong on how it depicts science, biology and cosmology. (All alleged scientific "miracles" can be easily refuted using Quran itself)
    12. Verses that challenge the reader to its Divinity even though the same challenge can be applied to any book in history.
    13. Verses mostly end with a threat of punishment or humiliation for the individual who doesn't submit.
    14. Verses that practically copy and paste it's laws from the Jewish Talmud and other scriptures.
    15. Verses that has nothing new to say so just repeats the same thing over and over again.
    16. Verses that quote biblical characters as if they're 7th century Arabs.
    17. Verses that are contradictory (no compulsion in religion vs fight those that those who don't believe)
    18. Verses that start and end abruptly, arranged haphazardly and gives no context.
    19. Verses that have zero benefit for mankind and if removed affects nothing.
    20. Verses that are different to other versions of Qur'an so not perfectly preserved (Hafs vs Warsh)
    .....and many more.
Looking at these issues objectively - one thing becomes absolutely clear - the Quran could NOT have come from an All Knowing and Perfect Divine Source but rather a human/s making standard fallable errors, taking many years to perfect it, but still falling short.
    >>>So what type of human scribe is this?
If this author believed in some kind of Deity or Higher Power that judged him according to his actions, he would NOT be as brazen, confident, arrogant, shameless, narcissistic, fearless and determined enough to fabricate this entire verse revelation fallacy. He'll be far too afraid of the repercussions, yes?
Therefore the ONLY conclusion that one can draw is that the author/s of the Quran MUST have been an atheist or at the very least agnostic with zero accountability or culpability for his elaborate campaign.( Notice how the Quran keeps saying - "there is no blame on you" for immoral verses such as 23:1-6, 33:50 and 70:29-30.
    >>>Now why is the Qur'an essentially a book that implores people to believe in a God that he personally did not believe in?
Muhammed noticed one thing that with the Jews, Christians and Pagans and all other groups, that motivated his campaign. The ONLY thing guaranteed to get a large amount of people to follow a single cause is through belief in some type of supernatural Deity that can't be seen or heard. It's the belief/faith that He/It is there that matters. And then proceed to make up countless promises of eternal bliss if you submit to this Deity or a torturous eternal punishment if you don't. How do you think the Christian missionaries managed to spread a complex 3in1 belief that no one understands so rapidly?
    >>>What was his end game - if not to begin a new religion?
Belief in "Allah" is just the deception. The ultimate goal was subjugation and control to get people to submit to your will on the pretext of being a Prophet where you have access to vast amounts of wealth (jizya) and assets (war booty) and copious amounts of sex slaves but do it on the pretext of a Divine instruction. This is what "Allah wants" but ultimately it's me who gets it. (His own child bride Ayesha even declared - your "Lord" rushes to fulfill your desires). Wow.
Over the next next few hundred years Muhammads status was honed, shaped manipulated and fabricated into the "best of creations" where he has now achieved an almost God like status, occupying a position closer to your average Muslim than his/her own mother.
I'd say he was something of a 7th century religious cult leader many of whom typically still practise their "craft" today.

The apostles saw Jesus resurrected and their willingness to die or be tortured to death over that claim is what allowed Christianity to expand, otherwise it would have died with Jesus ( if faking the resurrection of a publicly executed leader was so easy, we would have countless successful examples yet we only have one if you want to consider Jesus case a fake).

I found particularly interesting Dr Nasser's answers on how literary asthetics have differed over time and the speech of god nuances (I assume he talks with Khalil Andani at Harvard who talks about the latter issue on Twitter). Shady has done very interesting work on the canonization process. His first book focused on how certain readings became shadhdh (non-canonical) and the second published last year explores what we can learn from Ibn Mujahid's book of the seven readings. Of course, certain bozo apologists try to paint him as some kind of polemicist in disguise, but I hope it's clear from his manner in this interview that his work is concerned with questions of academic interest. Other academics certainly admire and appreciate his work.

I'd already heard it and have seen these attack points all before. Here are a couple of responses on reddit to Farid's video: 1 of 2: "The general consensus on Aasim: trustworthy but bad retention. Weak on unique transmissions.
There's a compilation of opinions on him here, and even on the page that Farid displayed [2:09] they're calling him 'unretentive' 'dismissed'."

    • @adamnasser2995
      @adamnasser2995 2 роки тому +1

2 of 2: "On the al Tabari one Nasser admitted the mistake and corrected himself in his second book p. 107. Tabari did criticise the maaliki reading, but it was maalaka that he said was against consensus so that's the only bit on the screenshot page that Nasser got wrong. Sure, it's a mistake (van Putten guessed Nasser may have used the edition with the typo there), but the overall point stands whereby Nasser gives numerous examples of Tabari criticising variants that became canonical. Nasser did make some mistakes about Ibn Attiyah, and the biography entries for Qunbul (Farid himself found that there's at least one edition of the source with the same mistake, albeit not the edition Shady cited) and Ibn Dhakwan. He wrote two massive books, so while he should have done better, it's going to have some mistakes. Neither Farid nor his friends have been able to address the reports on other readers and transmitters, so it barely affects the point Nasser is making. Nasser was essentially correct that Asim was often weakened, as van Putten confirmed when this came up before, but Nasser explicitly says that he is only listing negative reports and explains why afterwards. It's part of his theory on why tawatur became so important, that this aspect of hadith methodology wasn't wholey viable for the readers and transmitters. Nasser even explicitly states right after the list that he has been selective and most reports for each reader say they were trustworthy, which you'd never guess from Farid's hatchet job. But Farid loves to straw man people. And as for the ahruf hadith stuff - another straw man as Dr Hishami pointed out after confirming with Nasser himself. Nasser carefully explains in the book that he is not seeking to establish its authenticity or otherwise, but rather he is interested in when it was starting to circulate widely. Van Putten also backed him against Farid on this (except for on the Ubayy version). Incidentally, Van Putten has also called out Farid in the past for a dishonest misreading Ibn al Jazari."

The Quran jumps around a lot because nobody back then (8th century A.D.) was writing a coherent story. Poppycock! What about the Greeks and Sumerians? What about Moses and the Prophets? Blaming the ignorance of the people for the jumble, which is the Quran, is no defense.
"By Western Standards" That's nonsense. Moses wasn't a Westerner. He came from Egypt. Isaiah wasn't a Westerner but his prophecy is pretty well organized. The Sumerians weren't Westerners. The Epic of Gilgamesh is a coherent story. Holding up "the poor ignorant Arabs" as a defense for the mess, which is the Quran, is ridiculous.
Was Israel a Western country? John wrote the Gospel of John. That's a coherent story. John lived in the first century A.D. Arabs who slapped together the Quran 8 or 9 centuries later couldn't tell a coherent story? Puh-lease.

Allah is a fabricated name of Arabic ideology called Islam, my understanding of , where Allah name came from and why it is also known as moon god in Egyptian history? We have to open pages of history of Asia and Europe about 3000 years ago, what was happening in India , Pakistan , Iran, Iraq , Israel , Egypt , Greece , Italy and many other known major countries back then. And need to understand who was super power and what was role of them in known planet earth then , according to know religions books and some deeper looking in history, we find some clues.
I found out emperor Rama from India was a very powerful Emperor, who was running a Continuation of a very big empir as a family kingship , for thousands and thousands years and most of kings from this empire are Hindus’ Bhagwan, like shiva , Kirisna, Manu, Buddha, Rama, Brahama etc, it might be more then 2 thousands years since Brahama ( Abraham/ Ibrahim / el / Gilgamesh seems one man story) time , Rama had 2 sons from Seeta , Lov and Kush ,
When Lov and Kush grew up , both became warlord as emperor Rama him self and added many far distance countries to their empire. We have historical fact , Israel was conquered by Rama’s son Lav , and known as Al - Lah in Arabic language or older language of that area and he made many shiva temples in all those countries were he went , one of that temple is Muslims Kabba with shiva idol, and shiva idol is broken many time but it has place in silver frame, and that black stone is called higra e Aswad , and going around 7 time of this black stone ( Hijjra e aswad ) , is short name of Hujj . You got it ? Higra to Hujj, it just a yearly festival of older time pagans ( Indian Hindus) , but with time some one change it to fabricated Islamic ideology. And Indian kings Purans became with added local stories and pronounced as Quran with Q .

In his book Twenty Three Years, Iranian scholar Ali Dashti admits the truth about the Qur’an:
      The Qur’an contains sentences which are incomplete and not fully intelligible without the aid of commentaries; foreign words, unfamiliar Arabic words, and words used with other than the normal meaning;
Adjectives and verbs inflected without observance of the concords of gender and number; illogically and ungrammatically applied pronouns which sometimes have no referent; and predicates which in rhymed passages are often remote from the subjects. These and other such aberrations in the language have given scope to critics who deny the Qor’an’s eloquence

Surah Fussilat 41 : 37 prohibiting muslim to worship sky objects (sun, moon, stars) is recited by Muhammad (because he's illiterate) 3-5 years (AD 613-615) after he proclaimed as a prophet of allah in AD 610. He copied the Jews' Tanak (Bible: the Old Testament) Exodus 20 : 4, Deuteronomy 4 : 19 & 17 : 3 that Yahweh, the God of Israel that's worshiped by Abraham, Ishaq & Yakub, forbids the Israelites to worship sky objects but Q 6 : 77 muslims used to worship the moon goddess 🌙 & Q 53 : 49 Sirius the brightest star used to be Allah.
William Tisdall says in his book "The Original Sources of the Qur'an - Its Origin In Pagan Legends and Mythology" during that time Muhammad followed some of Jewish's, Christian's & the Sabian belief and practices. At that time he was still befriended wth them. He had access to Jewish's, Christian's & the Sabians (ancient people of Mesopotamia (nowadays Iraq until southern Syria) scriptures. He admitted the rightful Inhibitans of Israel in the Palestinian's land (Quran 5: 20-26), Jews & Christian are good friends. They'll go to heaven., but quran 5:82 to hate the Jews but Christians are the kindest to muslim, fight & slaughter the Jews (Sahih Muslim, Book 41, Hadith 6981 & 6985), quran 5:14 to hate Christians, quran 9:29 to fight theJews & Christias, 5 : 51, 1 : 7 the Christians & Jews are the cursed ones. Muhammad ordered muslims to pray 5x/ day to curse them, the Pact of Omar in AD 717, allah turned the Jews into pigs & monkeys Q 2 : 65 & 5 : 60, 7 : 163, rats are made from the Jews Sahih Al Bukhari, book 54, Hadith 524, cut the neck & fingers of the disbelievers Q 8 : 12 & 47 : 3 - 4, to kill the non muslims Sahih Al Bukhari Vo. I, p. 13, Q 9 : 14, to wipe out non muslims Q 6 : 44 - 45 & many more. Why there are many contradictions ???
The turning point is in AD 624. Muhammad wanted to be accepted as their new prophet (the Jew were waiting for their Masiah & the Christian were waiting for the coming of Christ for the 2nd time). When they rejected him he turned against them. Muhammad quarrelled with the Jews in AD 624 in Medina. Muhammad chased, killed & expelled them out of the Arabian Peninsula.... W. Tidall, p. 39. In the same page says in the same year Muhammad performed his 1st 'Idu'l Adha. While the Jews slaughtered lambs Muhammad slaughtered 2 kids. One for his people & one for himself.
Book of Dr. Daniel Alan Brubaker "Corrections in Early Qur'an Manuscripts". Dr. Dan says, "There are thousands seemingly endless deletions & insertions in the early quranic manuscripts (7th century)". Quran is just a man made book.
Western & European historians are free from religious oppression, intimidation & collusion. Not like their fellow muslim historians in their muslim countries. Eventhough they don't live in muslim countries but they're still bound with their religion. By making a report which is contrary to the quran & islamic rules and agreements the muslim historian could still face death threat, eg. Salman Rushdie. Salman actually didn't make any report which is contrary with the quran. It's already there ! Q 22 : 52 (read the interpretation of the verse by Ibn Kathir, 1999 printing, vol 5, p. 441).

The turning point is in AD 624. It's explained near the end of this reply. You shouldn't rely on the quranic verses only but you've to know the time & history of Muhammad. You should know the reason(s) why this/ that verses were written & when. Read book of William St. Tisdall. I've got one. Google who's he & his achievements.
Western/ European historian can investigate any historical event free of religious oppression. The reports will be published & debated in the public. If the author is lying/ making up a story he/ she could be persecuted by the government for making false statements in attempt to gain personal's interest (eg. money by selling his/ her books or famous name but by deceiving people).
You can't do it the the democratic Western & European countries but you can do it muslim countries after collaborating with their imams.
